"This was a great property. My wife and I stayed here 4 days with our boys 9 and 12. The house had everything we needed, was clean and in good shape. In particular, the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with every little small appliance you could want. The kids enjoyed the pool and we made use of the outdoor grill. Liz, the property manager, was nice, local and available for questions. We left an item there that she was nice enough to box up and ship back to us. The payment requirement through wire transfer was unique, but worked out without issue."

"The house is spacious, airy, bright and exceptional in all respects. The house is secluded: there are neighbors but nothing close by to be seen or heard. There is all one needs for all occasions. The kitchen is very well appointed with all the needed utensils; however, if one is doing serious chef work, pack a quality knife. The breeze and views are WONDERFUL from the wrap-around porch! Though on a catchment system - and we were mindful of this - our six members never had a water problem. Joanne has a large selection of beach/water items on the lower porch including a kayak; however, I recommend you either pack snorkel items or stop at a Walmart (I just HATE recommending Walmart!) and purchase on your way in. You WILL want to snorkel! The following is recommendations/information about the area. (no reflection on the exceptional house)
~ The Oceanview market at the base of the hill is a full line grocery that stays open until 9 p.m. The prices seemed in line with other places on the island
~ The house is a substantial distance from most everything. You will drive a lot. Gas is about one USD higher than mainland. Thus, plan your day linear and one can accomplish a lot.
~ Joanne and guest have provided/left guide books about the island. Use them for they will save you a lot of time.
~ Pack a sweater and an umbrella!
~ Be sure to drive across the saddle road. Despite what some of the guidebooks read, this is a very nice modern highway (not just a "road").
~ Seek out the local restaurants and roadside "shacks". You will be rewarded.
~ Stop and pick the fruit along the roadside. Stop at roadside fruit stands and buy the local stuff. Be prepared for all future like and similar fruits on the mainland to be a huge disappointment.
~ Snorkel at the tide pools and Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. An experience you will never regret and will forever change your life. Humbling.
Wondrous place, exceptional host and house. Make a dream come true."

"Upon our arrival late Christmas night, we were greeted by a celestial show of stars before we even made one step inside the house. At that point, we felt safe to say that our trip was destined to be a success. The pictures of the home do not depict the interior's size. The master bedroom was huge with large picture windows and screens which we opened to enjoy the ocean's breeze. From the porch we could spy the most southern point in the U.S. Our location was advantageous in visiting both sides of the Big Island. We were able to leisurely tour and hike portions of Volcano National Park which wasn't too far away. We visited the black and green beaches of the area and even witnessed a large turtle resting on the sand. We contacted the owners several times and they were more than helpful to direct us to the beach below the house- kind of a hike, but we endured. We do extensive research on vacation homes we rent and were well satisfied in selecting this house as our base for our Big Island adventures. If you thrive in a busy, noisy locale, you might consider somewhere else. However, if you like solitude, no sirens, no barking dogs, no loud trucks, no hot rod cars, or rowdy neighbors, then you have found the right location. We don't think you will regret it."

"This was an absolutely beautiful, peaceful getaway spot. I had no idea there were such unspoiled places left in Hawaii. The outdoor bath and showers are awesome, we had an unending supply of fresh lemons, grapefruit and macadamia nuts! Just make sure to stock up on groceries before arriving. In the entire week no-one came close to turning on the TV! Mahalo Sandra."
