  • Paradise revisited

"We loved this wonderful home for our two month visit to the Big Island! What did we love about it? In a word, everything! Spacious, well equipped, very clean, wonderful king size bed (three bedrooms, but only two of us), centrally located for our needs, quietness of the area, views of the mountains, ocean, and beautiful sunrises made this the ideal home for our visit. The owners are really nice people and very accommodating. We had great communication and even additional photos before our arrival and provided a list with descriptions of exciting things to do on the island. They even provided beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels and anything else needed for the beach. We were here during the winter visits of Humpback whales and blessed with many spectacular viewing opportunities. There are great beaches and hiking opportunities in the immediate area and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is just a short drive away with many sights and hikes to enjoy. We really enjoyed two local places to eat and snack, Hana Hou Restaurant with a full and the Punaluu Bakery with great sandwiches, ice cream and malasadas. The central location, which is roughly halfway between Hilo and Kona, enabled us to do several day trips to other parts of the island and we even got in an overnighter in the backcountry of the national park. For us this home was magical and the great value allowed us to do more things than if we had stayed in a resort area. We hope to be able to return in the future."

  • Home away from home

"This condo had everything needed as home base. Wonderfully furnished with all amenties of home. A little loud with upstairs neighbors but manageable. Was able to hear their every move each morning but evenings were quite. Great view of ocean and golf course. This spot is right between Hilo and Kona, lots of driving but also led to adventure each day. We had a little issue while there but Barbara was on top of it and responded quickly. Would visit Turtle Hut again!"

  • Outstanding!!!!

"Our stay at Aina Lani was outstanding! I have taken the time to write this review because this cottage is a little gem. The feel and layout of the cottage is immediately welcoming and comfortable. The whole cottage is very clean and enjoyable to be in. It has big beautiful windows, a great kitchen to cook in, a gorgeous bathroom and outstanding outdoor space! Anne and David have taken care of many of the small details, from having several towels on hand if needed, to having a packed beach bag with a set of beach towels and snorkels. They also provided a cooler in the closet, flashlights to maneuver around the dark grounds and an umbrella in case of a tropical down pour. The kitchen tools were well picked and we had everything we needed including reusable containers and zip blocks (a nice convenient touch). They have not used any strongly scented cleaners or detergents which is rare and very much appreciated by me. The bed was very cozy and comfortable as was the living room furniture. They were very respectful of our space, we only saw David upon arriving and departing otherwise we did not see them at all. It was great having all of the little extras (like we would at home) it made our stay much more enjoyable knowing that we didn't need to bother them for an extra towel or roll of toilet paper :) Alongside all of the carefully thought out amenities they also greeted us very kindly with a bowl of tropical fruit as well as two chilled bottles of water in the fridge. The grounds of the cottage is truly a little piece of paradise, it's secluded and allows you to be completely away. The outdoor space is more than the pictures show. It's beautifully groomed and has many little areas, it's very serene and relaxing with big tropical plants everywhere! The cottage is secluded so the nights are dark, the star show is unbelievable. The bedroom has a big beautiful window and is the perfect place to lay and watch the stars before the day is over. The cottage is located close to the volcano and a beautiful black sand beach, it is secluded so factor that in when you are deciding how you will be spending your vacation. I highly recommend Aina Lani! Thank you Anne and David for renting out such an enjoyable place! I hope to visit again!"

  • Gorgeous house with very private and quiet location!

"We stayed here from May25, 2014 until June 30, 2014 while we were looking for a long term rental, and thoroughly enjoyed this home. It is so beautiful and we especially loved the kitchen, the vaulted wood beam ceilings, and glass door stand up showers. Very nice breeze throughout the day and night with the windows open. Had everything we needed and we were very comfortable there. Raul was easy to work with and very hospitable to us and made it an easy stay. If you want to explore the south part of the island, then this is the place to be. It is on the south tip and you can go east or west to Hilo or Kona. It is near South Point green sand beaches which is awesome. Volcano National Park isn't too far either. Ka'u has the macadamia nut and Ka'u coffee tasting that is pretty cool too. There is a pretty cool view of the ocean on clear days so you still feel and remember that you are in Hawaii. Huge lanai that is comfortable and keeps you dry when it is raining. We used the yoga mats and exercised on the lanai everyday with 5 of us, so it is very big! Thanks again Raul for allowing us to stay in your home and we hope others will find this review useful as well. Semper Fi brother and God bless!"
