"I travel LOTS within the Hawaiian Islands as well as all over the mainland, and I have very high standards. Villa Hui exceeded my expectations (!). In my experience, Villa Hui is superior for many reasons, but don't miss these solid points:
1) elegant and stylish decor, spacious and impeccably clean
2) throughly appointed provisions for the complete kitchen and any beach outing (snorkeling gear, bikes, beach chairs, cooler)
3) a pool all to yourself- awesome!
4) location location location
The Mauna Lani Beach Club was quite easy to get to, calm and not ever crowded, lots of open cabanas. We never had to wait for a table at lunch when we ate at the restaurant.
I also took advantage of a local grocery delivery service (Going4Groceries) and a store that delivered wine (Kona Wine Market). We went to the restaurants nearby (7 -10 min walk) and enjoyed Monstera Sushi and Under the Bodhi Tree.
Make it easy on yourself and choose this beautiful place, Villa Hui for your vacation holiday. You will love it!"

"Halii Kai is the best condo community at Waikoloa. The Ocean Club is right at waters edge with panoramic ocean views. We spent every afternoon there, soaking in hot tub and drinking Mai Tais during happy hour. Quiet and tranquil surroundings.
BBQ on patio is first rate. Condo fully stocked with all amenities"

"We had a wonderful stay at this condo. The condo was very clean and spacious. The pool was right across the street where our kids could walk to it by themselves. The condo is in a gated community and everyone we met was friendly. Hapuna Beach was a few miles down the road by car and we spent almost every day there. Great place for the money."

"We (two couples) spent a great 11 days at Banyan House in late April 2015. It is a delightful location for a non-resort experience of the Big Island. As others have noted, the house itself is lovely, with pretty much everything you could ask for, and we spent many pleasant mornings and evenings there. It’s within walking distance of Kekaha Kai State Park and a short drive to the Pololu Valley Lookout and its trail down to a black sand beach. The small towns of Kapaau and Hawi are nearby, and we enjoyed the local restaurants, the Saturday farmers’ market, and getting fresh eggs from a small farm close by.
Mike Bailey, the local caretaker, was a great help to us as well, giving us tips on good beaches, places off the beaten path to see, and even hacking open coconuts for us. One evening he screened a movie for us on the side of the small church next door.
We got great weather, with the occasional rain coming in mostly at night, and we spent a lot of time on the lanai just enjoying the breezes, the sound of the breaking waves, the birds, and even the occasional cow or two in the field of tall grass a short distance away. The banyan tree that dominates one side of the yard is truly a wonder.
As for driving, it was about 45 minutes down the Kohala/Kona side to the Mauna Lani and Waikoloa resort areas, and along the way there is a good place to get fresh fish for grilling back at the house. The beautiful drive from Kapaau or Hawi to Waimea takes about 35 to 40 minutes, and you can continue on over to the Hilo side of the island from there."
