"My husband and I enjoyed a lovely stay in the Garden Studio on the same property as this cottage (Waimea Gardens). There are three units - two in the separate cottage, and the studio that is attached to the main house. The garden studio is tastefully decorated and has all the amenities, including wifi, TV, travel and other books, comfortable linens, small kitchenette, and an assortment of fresh fruit, bread and eggs for breakfast (excellent quality and very tasty)! The layout is unique but accommodating. The bathroom has little privacy so you should select this place only if you are staying with someone you are very familiar with. But even though the studio is attached to the main house, there is adequate separation so you don't feel like you are intruding into the owners lives, or vice versa. The owners (Barbara and Charlie) are very friendly and helpful too. Waimea Gardens is located very close to Hawaii Preparatory Academy and is within a couple of miles of the center of Kamuela town, which has several good restaurants and interesting stores. The grounds are lush and full of fruit trees, with chickens and even a wild turkey and peacock roaming around. All in all, a very comfortable and high quality B&B."

"We just returned from two weeks on the Big Island. Our second week was in Alice's Cottage. The home is very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed, plus a beautiful patio to enjoy the scenery. The photos were a true representation of the Cottage. Alice was always available and turned us on to all "local" attractions which made our time more enjoyable. The views were outstanding overlooking the Kohala coast. Both Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea were spectacular and right in view. We were 7 miles from the town of Waimea and located on the dryer side. The house location allowed visiting Hawi and Waipio Valley an easy and spectacular drive. We suggest having barbecue at The Fish and Hog; live music and food at the Blue Dragon. Thanks, Alice!!"

Aloha Vacation Cottages, the best VRBO we have been to!
"Fresh air, birds singing, immaculate accommodations . We have been to many VBRO's. Never have we been so well cared for. Our hosts thought of everything . Lots of little extras to make us feel welcome. Aloha does not just mean hello or good-bye. It a way of being. The Big Island is full of aloha. This was a great location, private deck. But close enough to snorkel, explore Mauna Kea , visit volcanos national park. I felt sorry for people that took a cab to a hotel and spent their vacation in that one spot. This wonderful island has to be explored. Annette and Pally had many great ideas and we're happy to share their local knowledge. Look for the slack key guitar cd's. We played them in the car for the whole trip. I bought one at home. When we play it, I feel like I am riding with the top down, feeling aloha. Many mahalos to our wonderful hosts. Ed and Margaret"

"The apartment was very modern and clean and had every convenience of home. It is close to Waimea, a full service town. We ate breakfast in the apartment every day. We never felt like hurrying out the door in the morning and it felt like coming home at the end of a day spent exploring the island. It was great to find beach chairs and a cooler in the apartment to take to Mauna Kea beach which was about 15 minutes down the hill. Brett was a wealth of information about the island and so friendly, but never intrusive on our privacy. Would definitely stay again. Can't imagine a more comfortable place to stay."
