"Full Disclosure..........I've known the owners almost all my life and have stayed at 82 many times. So, can I give a fair review? I think so.
If I had one more trip in me before getting too old to travel it would be here. Why? A lot of reasons, but basically, location, location, location. The other reviews are all 5 stars and give many of the reasons why, all of which I agree with. It is always a joy to walk over the bridge across the pond behind the house and see one of the most majestic views you can imagine. You are literally one step away from what is essentially a private sandy beach. It's not private of course but, it is far away from the public beaches so there are no crowds of tourists. The only people you generally see are a few of the people staying in nearby homes and they are just walking by and not sitting down on your beach. From the big deck you step onto the beach where there are several coconut trees to provide shade, Adirondack chairs where you spend a lot of time enjoying the gorgeous weather, the awesome scenery and beautiful sunsets. Then there are the Green Turtles, lots of them laying around in the shallows feeding or sleeping. They have pretty much lost their fear of humans so you can get quite close to take great pictures. If you are lucky you can find yourself swimming along with them in the deeper water. It's awesome. Oh, then there are the Whales. Literally every day during the winter months the Whales can be seen swimming back and forth not far offshore. They often breach and trust me, that is spectacular and I have the pictures to prove it. There have been nights when it is quiet and the wind is not blowing and you can hear the Whales as they come out of the water and splash back down. Amazing to listen to. At night as you are lying in bed drifting off to sleep the sound of the waves gently rolling across the reef is something you won't find in many places because you are so close to the beach.
So, all that being said, 82 is not for everyone. It is a small, old and rustic essentially one room house. There is a kitchen/living room, one full bath, one half bath and two bedrooms separated by the large bathroom, which are more alcoves than separate rooms so privacy is limited. Then there is a large covered deck and one step to the beach. Kitchen facilities are adequate. It works great for a family or two couples (especially if you are really good friends)."

"My family and I just recently returned from an absolutely wonderful trip to Big Island, especially due to this house. We had so much fun just being in this house. My favorites times were on the lanai in the mornings watching for whales w/my coffee and in the evening watching for whales w/my wine. Can it get any better? I cannot say enough good things about this house. It has everything you need in a beautiful setting. Each room and space is very tastefully furnished and fully equipped. It was so comfortable and relaxing just to be there. I highly recommend this house to others and I am looking forward to returning."

"For the second time in two years, we have recently returned from a wonderful visit to Colleen’s Mauna Lani Golf Villas home. Over the past 8 years, our family has stayed in 5 different condos all within the Mauna Lani complex. Colleen’s is the best value we have found; on future trips, we will not be staying anywhere else.
Her condo is beautifully decorated and well maintained. We particularly appreciate the fully stocked kitchen and great outdoor space and BBQ where we prepare and enjoy as many meals as we can. Whenever we are not outside at the beach or on an excursion around the island, we all lounge comfortably in the living area watching TV or playing the games provided.
The beach club is the main reason we keep returning to Mauna Lani. The beach area itself is a very wide and deep stretch of sand that never feels crowded. It is protected from the open ocean by lava rock. As a result, the water is very calm and provides fantastic snorkeling. The restaurant is quite good and where we eat lunch every day while at the beach.
Finally, and while probably a very personal interest, our family loves to watch the sunrise over the island. From both the master bedroom and from outside on the patio, it is absolutely spectacular to watch the sun come up alongside Mauna Kea.
Colleen is the most responsive owner with whom we have worked. From the initial email request until you are on your way home, she is always available to answer questions and provide additional information about your visit."
