  • Great Home for a Family Reunion

"We joined our two sons and their families, a total of nine of us, for a fantastic family reunion of ten days at Mauna Kea South Fairways #20. Everything was ready to go. Lots of towels, coffee filters and spices for the barbeque. You do need to bring hair dryers. We stopped at Costco and loaded up and then stopped at the Foodland Farms grocery at Mauna Lani. Lots of refrigerator space including the one in the garage. Registration at Mauna Kea for the amenities program was easy and it gave us an additional two access cards plus a key card to the fitness center. The temperature was easy to control. we used the a/c in the bedrooms and then opened all the sliding doors at night for a gentle breeze. Most of our meals were outside. Parking for two vehicles is not a problem. The pool is really the high point of the house. It was used every day. We would not recommend it for children that don't know how to swim as it doesn't have much shallow space. Our grandkids are water babies and played in it virtually all day. We used the boogie boards and other stuff at the beach. Easy to park at Mauna Kea - take the first right hand turn, swipe the access card and park near that end. Take the path on the right side of the parking lot down past the tennis center. We were there for the 4th of July. Some went to the beach and some stayed at the house. Fireworks visible by the pool at the house! Every evening we watched the sunset and voted on how beautiful it was. Usually either a 9 or 10. Activities we did included Golf at Waikoloa Village (great price and wonderful course), horseback riding at Paniolo Stables, day trip down to the Place of Refuge and shopping in Kona, snorkel cruise on the Fairwind II to the Capt Cook monument and a day trip to the Volcano Nat Park. We used the Saddle road and found it to be in really great shape. Most of it has been realigned and repaved. Only the last 10 miles above Hilo are still narrow and curvy. Drive up past Waikoloa Village, turn right and follow the signs. Make sure you have plenty of gas as there is nothing up there. When we checked out we refueled at Costco. Best price by far. Again, highly recommended!"

  • Very lovely and comfortable

"We really enjoyed our stay at this Big Island home. As soon as we walked in we were blown away by the property. Comfortable beds, nice linens, towels etc and plenty of room to spread out. Kitchen was very nice and fairly well equipped. We loved the location, so quiet but close to our favorite beach or Waimea. The owners were very easy to work with and very responsive when we had a few questions during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope we can stay here again."

  • Complete condo package!

"We stayed at Gail and Dave's Fairways condo for 16 nights, arriving on Thanksgiving day. Everything was included that we needed. The location is perfect with various restaurants, grocery stores, beaches, and shopping within minutes. The unit is tastefully decorated, the kitchen well stocked and having a washer/dryer available is a plus. We spent every morning on the lanai enjoying the morning sun, reading the West Hawaii Today newspaper and eating breakfast. The ceiling fans keep the unit cool and opening the front door and using the screen door to invite the trade wind breeze in, is a nice feature. Items such as spices, cooking oils, condiments and other goodies left by previous guests, as well by the owners, was a nice option and made cooking so much nicer. The unit was exceptionally clean, the "extra's" in the garage, i.e., beach items, coolers, were a plus! The pool at the Fairways was nice and a great afternoon place to hang at. We are very glad to have found this condo on VRBO and would recommend it to friends and family. Gail was extremely easy to work with, answered all our questions and was prompt to return email or phone calls. An overall wonderful condo experience and we would stay here again."

  • BEST FAMILY CONDO

"Our family of four really enjoyed the luxurious, modern, two-story three-bedroom condo floorplan that F-2 offered. We especially loved the location directly across from the wonderful pool/hottub area as we had two tweens. The décor and furniture were the perfect mixture of modern and Hawaiian yet comfortable and tasteful. We made a game out of looking at all of the artwork. Honestly, the photos did not even begin to show how amazing and gorgeous this place was (look at the kitchen photo - everything is as great as the new stainless appliances and granite counters). DVD collection had fun family movies, porch offered a swing for morning coffee and a table for meals. Laundry was quality and worked well so we packed lightly. Private wifi worked great. TV's in all the rooms were fun for the kids and husband. Fans were appreciated where we tried to keep the air conditioning off as much as possible, and downstairs screen doors were nice. Keyless entry was great. Foodland minutes away was perfect for all our cooking needs. I highly recommend F-2! It was possibly our best family vacation yet, and quite a bit due to our condo. I recommend getting instructions on the location and how to use the air conditioner if you're coming in at an odd hour because it could be hot at first, and you might not be in your right mind to cool the place down for sleeping (although after that you will likely not use it too often unless it's summer). Also, if you aren't very technical, make sure you know how to use the DVD player, etc, as there are limited instructions - I found cable instructions, but luckily the setup was much like our own. And we couldn't find small ice cream sized bowls. That's not too many suggestions for a huge condo! Honestly, it's perfect! OVERALL: I recommend! Five stars!"
