  • Cozy condo with a view of the Ocean and in a great community.

"This is a very nice cozy condo in a great community. It is on the ground floor and you can see the ocean across the golf course. The pool is very close but not too close that there is any noise from it. It is a great place for kids and has a lot of room for playing outside but you do need to keep you head up since the golf course is right next to the condo and a number of balls come in the area. The only disappointment was after agreeing to a price including all fees we still got hit with a credit card fee of 2.5% (there were no other options to pay?) and a daily use fee for the resort of $10/day."

  • Amazing Location/People and Best Coral Reef!

"I stayed here with a friend for almost a week, and at first was not sure where it was that we were driving to in the dark. When we arrived, the air was rich with the scent of flowers, and we opened the door to a week of bliss. Be warned - this is not in the middle of tourist central, and there are no major grocery stores nearby. Instead, there is a small general store that pipes in the hydrophoned calls of whales from the offshore harbour. There is the shallow reef, home to the resident turtles just across the street. And Bud - the penultimate host, and his pooch Sancho. We were sorry to have missed Peg, but I am sure we will go back to stay with them again. The suite is small, but good. There is an outdoor shower that really makes the night time snorkelling amazing :) All in all this place is one that I will remember for a long time to come!"

  • Beautiful Location

"Puako is a local community representative of old and new Hawaii. The property is expansive with lovely views of the Pacific. The house is a typical Hawaiian style with great living spaces and a well-stocked kitchen. The master bedroom is small with limited closet space. The house was clean and well managed."

  • Perfect place to stay in Waikoloa Resort

"My mother and I spent a wonderful, relaxing week at this condo. It's perfectly situated near the pool and clubhouse, which we discovered is very important at Hali'i Kai. We remarked more than once that we were so glad we were not in units closer to the main road as it would be a very long walk and quite difficult for mom. This unit is well appointed, the master suite is especially spacious with a very nice en suite. Housekeeping visited once mid week to take out trash and leave fresh towels. This was fine with us, and those who need more frequent visits can request as an add-on. The daily fee that covers the housekeeping and access to the pool was an additional $10 per day, which was reasonable. The wifi was easy to access via a code provided at check in. This was my fourth trip to the Big Island, and every previous time I have stayed along the Kohala Coast at major hotels. This time, rather than pay exorbitant hotel rates and resort fees we decided to check VRBO. This decision was the right one. For much less than the cost of two rooms and the logistical challenges of meeting for meals, etc, we had plenty of space and the ability to have breakfast and lunch in the condo or the pool (the spinach salad was a favorite). The Hali'i Kai is a beautiful spot from the condos to the pool area. Quiet, well managed, very friendly staff. Waikoloa Resort offers good restaurant options, and some shopping. These are a long walk or easy drive from Hali'i Kai. Having been around the island several times, we stayed close to home for the week. However, it is a great location for day trips to see all this incredible place has to offer. The owner was very responsive during the reservation stage and the check in and out processes were a breeze. We would definitely return to this condo on our next visit to the island of Hawaii!"
