  • Magnificent Site!

"Our family of 9 spanning 3 generations loved our Kohala home for the holidays! Everything we needed was available in this lovely property. We enjoyed the home for its layout, location, space, peace, provisions, owner and management communications. A small detail we appreciated was having essential light switches labeled for our convenience. This location was perfect for our group for its proximity to beaches and activities. The layout offers privacy and space for a group such as ours as well as options for a variety of gathering spaces. We would happily return here. Aside from the qualities of the property, the views and sunsets are amazing. This is way more than simply lodging. It is a lovely home that we could enjoy spending time in."

  • Best vacation ever!

"We have been coming to the Big Island for several years but this vacation was perfect. The ranch is located in the Meadows of Kohala Ranch. Warm sunny days and cool comfortable nights. We lived on the spacious lanai with a 180 degree view of the ocean. The Jr. suite is tastefully decorated and impeccably clean. There is a full kitchen, gas BBQ, laundry facilities and the most comfortable bed. The resorts with their restaurants, beaches and shops are just down the hill. Waimea is a nice sized town town close by with all the necessities: groceries, drugstores, churches, quaint shops and restaurants. We loved to sit on our lanai and watch the cows roam across the open range. Drive slowly, they also roam in the roads. There are wild turkey and beautiful song birds. The ranch also has 2 horses who love carrots and 2 sweet, well behaved dogs. It was comforting to know if you needed anything the Watsons were there to help and yet they give you your own very private island retreat. This is the perfect vacation spot. The weather, the open spaces, the fantastic accommodations all provided for a relaxing, rejuvenating and down right FUN TIME. WE are going back!!!"

  • Absolute Heaven!

"This is an absolutely beautiful home, located in a gated community on the side of an extinct volcano with terrific views of the ocean. The house is quite private with a distinctive Tuscan feel to it. Built around a center courtyard, it is well-furnished with a quiet and air-conditioned bedroom wing and comfortable public rooms. The kitchen is well equipped and large. The lanai, where we spent most of our time, is superb. The covered section is reminiscent of an Italian villa, the pool is large and heated and the grounds are well maintained. The lanai is perfect for whale-watching in the morning with that second cup of coffee, or enjoying the sunsets with a gin and tonic while grilling a fresh caught opakapaka - absolute heaven! The owners - Sue and Dave - are great to work with and are very intent that your visit is memorable. There are simply not enough superlatives to describe this house. What better recommendation than to say we had reserved it for next year before we departed this year."

  • We'll be back!!!

"We had a fantastic time in the luxurious, spacious Welina house! We are a family of 5 and travelled with my husband's sister and daughter. With 3 adults and 4 teenagers, we needed a place with some space and a fully equipped kitchen. We rented the house and guesthouse. The house was a 12 minute drive to two of the most gorgeous beaches on the island, Puako and Mauna Kea. There was also an excellent fish market at the bottom of the hill and fantastic shave ice/icecream place (I recommend the white chocolate ginger icecream, but all flavors were excellent). After each day at the beach, we enjoyed having dinner in the fully equipped kitchen/dining area and watching the gorgeous peaceful sunsets by the pool. The house is about 10 degrees cooler than down by the beach, so much more comfortable. Sometimes it was pretty windy so we only used the jacuzzi/pool a few times. There were lots of movies and games for the family too. All in all, the description was accurate, the photos reflect the amenities, the property was clean and well-maintained, Pam was very helpful in answering questions/concerns, and we will definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. We hope to come back too!"
