"We stayed here for a week with our two kids, 7 and 11. We absolutely loved everything about our trip, including the condo unit itself, the Hali'i Kai complex and the Waikoloa Resort area. There are many options for fun activities, both around Waikoloa or a little further afield, so Hali'i is a perfect home base. As other reviewers have mentioned, Nicole has set up her unit with everything you could ever need, including lots of great stuff for the beach. Having rented from other owner-direct type services in the past, we were especially pleased to walk in and see that the unit matched the posted pictures exactly (not always the case we have found). Being on the ground floor was really nice, I think we ate every dinner on the lanai and watched the kids enjoy playing all around the grassy areas out back. Being such a close walk from the pool was really nice as well.
We loved the ocean club and pool, and found ourselves enjoying time down there everyday, even on days we took a day trip to other parts of the island. We found the restaurant food to be quite good, although rather pricey...but everything in Hawaii seems to be a bit more expensive so we didn't worry about it. The service was great, and the happy hour Mai Thais were especially good!
Nicole was really good to work with, and I can only say great things about our overall experience on the Big Island. We are already looking at dates to go back next year, and if we do we will book this unit without hesitation. Aloha!"

"We have visited the Big Island often and this was one of our best experiences ever!! We absolutely loved the condo- beautifully decorated, immaculate and well equipped. Like being at a luxury hotel but much more peaceful and relaxing, with all of the comforts of home! This is the perfect vacation location- the resort offers everything you need, great beach, hikes, golf, shopping and restaurants. The owners are amazing and anticipated our every need. We miss being there already and have wonderful memories of our all too short visit."

"3 things to consider about this place:
1) Location of Mauna Lani Terraces - GREAT! One of the few lower density places that is oceanfront Hawaii. I want to find a similar place on Oahu (i.e., I like that island the best for stays > 1 week). Also, we mixed up the daily routine between snorkeling on the edge of the reef (swimming from Mauni Lani Hotel to Beach Club), Beach Club, Mauni Lani Hotel beach, Mauni Lani Hotel pool, Fairmont beach, Fairmont pool and a few driving destinations (e.g., Pololu, Waimea, Hapuna)
2) Location of this unit within Mauna Lani Terraces - IDEAL! The patio spills out onto the grass. As such, my kids flowed back and forth between the unit, patio and the grass. The pool is about 50 steps from our patio. Importantly, it's really quiet there (i.e., not obnoxious to our unit) and it's fenced (i.e., don't have to worry about kids wandering in without supervision). The beach (300 feet away?) is directly on the other side of the fishpond (80 feet away). So, you get the ocean breeze and view. Finally, the fishpond is bounded by lava rocks ... keeps toddlers out.
3) The unit - Pretty good. Pros - Has everything you need, good light and air (fans), well maintained and immaculately cleaned. Cons - I'm not a big fan of carpet on principal and especially in a beach location. The fixtures are a little dated but work fine. The master bed was a bit soft for my back. These, however, are minor issues."

"The Bamboo suite is beautiful and quiet. It is connected to a larger rental on the property, but still felt very private. We hardly saw our neighbors. It rained nearly every night during our early March stay, but it was only a 30 minute drive to the sunny coast. It was nice to cool off a bit on the Lanai after a day at the beach.
Our only complaints are that the outdoor shower did not drain properly and the internet connection is hit or miss. Otherwise we had a lovely stay.
Also, make sure to stop at GJ's Huli Chicken for lunch! It was the best (and cheapest) meal that we had in Hawaii. They set up a bbq next door to the Hawi visitors center on Thursdays."
