  • Raising the bar!

"Our stay on the Big Island was amazing and staying in your lovely home made it perfect. We marveled at the beauty and comfort of your home on a daily basis. It was better outfitted than our family home. You have now raised the bar on a vacation rental. Thank you, Thank you"

  • Great Home for a Family Reunion

"We joined our two sons and their families, a total of nine of us, for a fantastic family reunion of ten days at Mauna Kea South Fairways #20. Everything was ready to go. Lots of towels, coffee filters and spices for the barbeque. You do need to bring hair dryers. We stopped at Costco and loaded up and then stopped at the Foodland Farms grocery at Mauna Lani. Lots of refrigerator space including the one in the garage. Registration at Mauna Kea for the amenities program was easy and it gave us an additional two access cards plus a key card to the fitness center. The temperature was easy to control. we used the a/c in the bedrooms and then opened all the sliding doors at night for a gentle breeze. Most of our meals were outside. Parking for two vehicles is not a problem. The pool is really the high point of the house. It was used every day. We would not recommend it for children that don't know how to swim as it doesn't have much shallow space. Our grandkids are water babies and played in it virtually all day. We used the boogie boards and other stuff at the beach. Easy to park at Mauna Kea - take the first right hand turn, swipe the access card and park near that end. Take the path on the right side of the parking lot down past the tennis center. We were there for the 4th of July. Some went to the beach and some stayed at the house. Fireworks visible by the pool at the house! Every evening we watched the sunset and voted on how beautiful it was. Usually either a 9 or 10. Activities we did included Golf at Waikoloa Village (great price and wonderful course), horseback riding at Paniolo Stables, day trip down to the Place of Refuge and shopping in Kona, snorkel cruise on the Fairwind II to the Capt Cook monument and a day trip to the Volcano Nat Park. We used the Saddle road and found it to be in really great shape. Most of it has been realigned and repaved. Only the last 10 miles above Hilo are still narrow and curvy. Drive up past Waikoloa Village, turn right and follow the signs. Make sure you have plenty of gas as there is nothing up there. When we checked out we refueled at Costco. Best price by far. Again, highly recommended!"

  • This is our second stay in this lovely property!

"We came last year and we came again for another two week stay! Attributes are: cleanliness, tasteful and professional interior design, ocean view with sunsets, quiet, a well equipped kitchen with quality items, its location (minutes from everything), option of amenity pass access to Hapuna and Mauna Kea resorts and beaches, not to mention professional and responsive dealings with the owner (no middle man). Whether you're active (which we are) or inactive, you can't beat what this property has to offer. We don't like to stay on a resort property with resort prices but like the ability to enjoy the beaches, pools, gym and tennis with preferred parking access and then leave the scene to the tourists and retreat to this wonderful and peaceful property. If you're golfers, it even gets better! Even if you never leave Waiulaula you still have access to their gym, pool and hot tub. Lastly, if you like to start the day with a walk or run, this is a perfect place to do that too with no traffic and lovely coastal views. Thanks again Keenan!"

  • It's so nice - we've done it twice! Fantastic!

"We first rented the house for an entire week in September, 2013 - yes, just the two of us. (LOTS of space.) We also just returned from our second week at this home, and loved it just as much. Before arriving, I knew we were already "at home" as Donna made us feel so special, and immediately created a wonderful bond via the phone and emails. She answered every question we asked, provided great information about the resorts and surrounding areas, etc. Upon arrival, we were amazed at the property, the views, the weather and the amenities of the resorts. The biggest daily decisions were which pool/beach to use...the Hapuna, The Mauna Kea or just relax at the property's very own private pool, yes Chardonnay in hand. What a way to relax. The house itself is wonderful and spacious. The kitchen is stocked very well with pots/pans, plates, utensils and lanai-ware for outdoors. It's a great set-up for entertaining, especially if you are going with a larger group of people. There is also an outdoor gas grill which was used several times. As for the bedrooms, they are very spacious, and VERY clean. Do you find a bug once in a while? Of course! It's the tropics! (And having lived in South Florida for years, a little gecko here and there in the house, which is rare, is also good fortune as they take care of any little bug that may have entered.) We had one little issue with a leaky valve on a toilette and Donna had people out within the hour to have it repaired. The grounds are spotless and maintained impeccibly! Donna, Marsie, Richard - everyone takes such pride in this place. Basically, what I'm trying to say is this place is perfect. Whether you're a couple looking to just get away from it all, or are coming with a group of people, this is your place. If you're a family trying to vacation together or have a mini-reunion, this is perfect! The house is divided so well that you won't trip on each other at all. Throw all the kids in the family room, and let the "big" kids sleep in the wonderful bedrooms. If you have a car, it's a great place to jump from and explore, as well as very close to Kawai'hae (5 minutes away) with great restaurants and Waimea. I could go on, but won't. It's just lovely and while these pictures are quite accurate, they don't do it justice. Can't WAIT to be back! Aloha..."
