Beautiful, Relaxing Vacation Home
"Wow! On our first time renting a vacation home and visiting Hawaii, we hit the jackpot! This home is beautiful and spacious--perfect for a trip with our teenage children and our parents. It suited the 6 of us perfectly. Of course the views are spectacular and the accommodations exceptional, but I was particularly overwhelmed with the owner's helpfulness. Months before our arrival, the owner provided us with travel tips and suggestions. Directions to the home were flawless to the point that we easily found it in the dark. The attention to detail and hospitality was second-to-none. Thanks for a fabulous vacation. We would love to return again. There really was so much to see and do on the big island that a week wasn't long enough!"

"This is a perfect vacation home for a large family. We were there with 4 grandchildren and 6 adults. The home itself is spectacular architecturally. There is a large open atrim adjacent to a large spacious pool and hot tub on the main floor, with wonderful views across the Mauna Kea Resort golf course and out to the ocean. All of the bedrooms are large and spacious with adjacent bathrooms. There are several eating areas and a large barbecue which we used to make dinner. And all of the services of the Mauna Kea resort are available. All of us had a great time and are eager to return. In addition, the home manager Lynda was always available and did all she could to make our stay enjoyable."

"My wife and I were here for a month. We have visited the Big Island a few times now, and this is the best place we have stayed to date. It is a ground floor condo in a quiet and well-maintained 15 year old gated development in the Uplands area above Hapuna and Mauna Kea resorts and beaches, about 40 minutes north of the Kona airport. Located at the north end of the development overlooking a golf course, the condo itself is clean, comfortable, and includes a large kitchen with top quality cookery, large living room and master bedroom, a smaller second bedroom, and a den area. It has an amazing, and completely unobstructed westerly view, and we spent many hours on the large lanai enjoying it. The owner is attentive and responsive. The owner dealt with a small maintenance problem promptly. Resort staff are always available but unobtrusive. A car is required as grocery shopping, farmers markets, sightseeing, and restaurants are at least 15 minutes driving time away. Although the area is hilly, there are good traffic free areas for walking, or you can drive a short way to the beaches and walk in the sand and the surf. If this is your first visit to the Big Island this would be an excellent choice. We will be back!"

"This was our 3rd time to the Big Island, and 2nd time with our family (3 kids under age 10). We brought one set of grandparents too, so there were 7 of us total.
We enjoyed working with the condo owner Bill; he was very helpful, responsive, and accommodating. His onsite manager is a real pleasure to work with.
The condo is very spacious and furnished beautifully. The kitchen was very well equipped and we used the grill on the lanai several times.
Parking was limited and tight but adequate.
The amenity center with a beautiful pool and hot tub, work out room and community room was very close by.
It was quiet, comfortable, and the VIEW! AMAZING!!
The proximity to the Hapuna and Mauna Kea Beaches was exactly what we were after. We paid the extra fee (arranged through the condo owner but paid directly to the hotel) to have access to the hotel pools and towel service. Totally worth it. The Mauna Kea Hotel's poolside and ocean lounge chairs get "saved" early in the day which is frustrating. That didn't seem to be the case at the Hapuna Beach Hotel though. Stop at Costco right after landing and buy yourself a boogie board. You'll get tons of use out of it if you spend any time at these beaches!
The Mauna Kea luau was fun. They don't advertise it much but there is an option to go to just the show and skip dinner. When we compared the dinner + show cost vs. just show, we decided dinner is NOT worth it. The kids were happier eating at the condo and the show was worth every penny.
Both the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Hotels offer a breakfast that is to die for in a setting that is just so beautiful. Casual dining options are expensive and limited near these beaches, which is another reason a condo was a MUST for us this time around with the family along.
We considered the Waikaloa Beach/Kolea Condos, Mauna Lani Condos, Private Homes in North Kohala, and others. I am SO GLAD we stayed at Mauna Kea and in this particular unit. It was AWESOME."
