  • Adventure and relaxation all in one!

"Wow! We arrived at night to the beautiful sound of rustling palm leaves and the brightest stars I have ever seen. It was even better the next morning to wake and see the emerald green golf course and meticulous landscape. The town home itself is beautiful, clean, and updated with large bedrooms and bathrooms and every amenity you could need. We traveled the entire island to find out that the best the island has to offer was indeed right at our back door. Great restaurants, shopping, coffee all very nearby. The beaches are walking distance but a bit of a hike. We enjoyed the daily workout by rewarding ourselves with a splash in the ocean. Snorkeling, kayaks and beverages are all available at the beach club. If you prefer to stay close to home you can lounge in the exotic oasis of the pool and whirlpool. The town home is fully equipped and we even enjoyed movie night with the family friendly DVD collection. We would choose this rental over any resort. We look forward to returning!"

  • Wonderful Golf Villa Stay

"We rented the villa for our daughter's wedding. This was an excellent alternative to staying at the nearby resort which hosted the wedding. The full kitchen and nicely appointed living area provided much needed social space for the family. Excellently maintained villa, grounds, and pool. Quiet neighborhood and quick access to shopping and tourist destinations. While we didn't have time to golf, the courses looked fantastic. The salt and pepper sand beach was quiet and full of reef fish. All in all an excellent option for a Hawaiian vacation."

  • AMAZING & WONDERFUL

"We recently celebrated my husband's 80th birthday with a week-long stay at KaMilo. Our group consisted of 15 adults and 8 children, ages 5 to 18. We found three 4-bedroom units in KaMilo that were close to each other and to the recreation area (pools, fitness center, pavilion), all managed by Shig. During months of planning, he was patient, gracious, knowledgeable, and responsive in answering my questions. His "Insider's Guide" booklet was supremely helpful, and his recommendations proved to be spot on. Our beautiful, spacious units easily accommodated meals that included all 23 of us without feeling crowded. The bedroom configurations worked out perfectly. The unusual (to us) lock-box for entry to the units turned out to be the perfect solution for multiple inhabitants often going their separate ways. We couldn't have been more pleased. During our stay, my husband and I hosted two catered dinners for our group: an Arrival Dinner prepared in our kitchen by a great chef/caterer from Waimea, and a more formal Birthday Dinner held in the wonderful KaMilo Gathering Place Pavilion (Shig's suggestion) catered by a Mauna Lani chef who used the barbecue and other cooking facilities to create a magical celebratory dinner. We were able to reserve the Pavilion for the whole evening. These dinners turned out to be far more comfortable and congenial than trying to find restaurants for such a large group. Our group made the most of KaMilo: the lap pool, free style pool, hot tub, and fitness center got a lot of use thanks to being close by and perfect for a short or long visit; the private beach club was enjoyed for its beautiful setting, wonderful snorkeling, and great food at the restaurant. The nearby Foodland was a great convenience. Throughout the island, scenery was spectacular, sunsets breathtaking, and colorful fish and huge honu lounging on the rocks memorable. The Big Island is incredibly well-suited to suit a wide variety of interests. Supporting and underlying all the fun was the comfort of our clean and luxurious accommodations. The pictures on all three VRBO sites capture the beauty of the furnishings, but being there brings out their ability to house 9 people without feeling at all crowded. Any questions or concerns were addressed easily and immediately. KaMilo at Mauna Lani is a great location. A KaMilo residence managed by Shig and his wife, Maya, is the perfect answer to whatever your needs might be."

  • Great condo...private but close to wonderful beaches and good locations for day excursions

"My husband, 10-year-old son and I stayed here for eight nights early April. It was our first visit to Hawaii and I would recommend to anyone staying in Hawaii for more than three nights (don't know who would bother flying all that way for fewer) to NOT stay in a hotel. It is possible to do Hawaii on somewhat of a budget...but staying in a condo/villa where you can prepare meals is crucial...eating out is EXPENSIVE! This condo is lovely and HUGE! Much more than enough room for the three of us. The kitchen was well-equipped with appliances, dishes, utensils, some staples...sugar, spices, etc. Appliances are high-end, place is clean and nicely decorated. We felt very much at home and relaxed and looked forward to our evenings in the condo. Plenty of beach/pool towels in the unit and the washer and dryer were great to have...we were able to pack very light. I've seen apartments that could fit in the master bath! The location is awesome. Beaches are a very short drive away...could even take a longer stroll to the beach if you wanted. You are VERY close in this complex (The Fairways) to Mauna Kea...which has the BEST beach and no crowds. It's a 5-star hotel beach and they only give out 40 public parking passes a day...we always got there before 8:30 am and always got in...that's about as late as I'd go...even earlier on the weekends. Good snorkeling...we brought our own masks and snorkels but there were some at the condo...and fins, which was nice. There was a boogie board to use as well...my son used it the whole time. Just about every day we'd eat breakfast, go to Mauna Kea, come back to the condo for lunch, then head out exploring other beaches/points of interest. So nice to come back to the condo in the evening and have a swim in the lovely and never-crowded pool. The pool, grounds, and units themselves are all well-maintained and very quiet. You're a quick drive to the shops at Waikoloa and Kona is an easy drive. Shawn was great to deal with...always responded to my emails/texts quickly with questions about the unit/area. We will definitely visit the Big Island again...ideally would get this unit, or at least another in The Fairways...and definitely get something through Shawn. Thanks so much!"
