"This condo was amazing!!! We were expecting that like most places, the pictures would look better than it actually was. But we were pleasantly surprised to find that the place was even better than advertised in the pictures! Staying in a condo was so much more comfortable than a hotel. This condo was extremely spacious. We were only two people but you could easily fit four adults plus two or three children in the unit without feeling crowded. We will never go back to hotels for vacations! The kitchen was nicely stocked with all the little things you might not remember to buy at the grocery store such as spices, oil, sugar, syrup, etc. The appliances and kitchen utensils were of very high quality and made it easy to cook meals. The condo was nicely furnished and well stocked with beach towels, snorkel gear, and other beach toys. Everything was in good working order and the place was extremely clean. I'm a total germ-a-phobe and neat freak and this was one of the few places that met my standards! The condo is in the Mauna Lani complex which has very beautiful grounds and was extremely quiet and relaxing. It was conveniently located close to shopping and many beaches along the Kohala coast. There is a large lanai off the condo with a large gas grill and we enjoyed eating our meals outside. The owners, Karen and Arthur, happened to be staying in one of their other units next door and were very welcoming and friendly. It was very easy to make the reservation and Arthur and his assistant responded to emails very quickly. They also had a very useful notebook in the condo explaining where to find groceries, recommended restaurants, amenities available in the complex, and condo rules. This was an amazing and comfortable place to stay and we would definitely come back in the future!"

"The condo was beautiful and all of the extras (stand-up paddle boards, boogie boards, bikes, snorkels) were great for enjoying the beaches on the island.
The mauna lani beach is about a 10minutea walk through a lava field trail and really interesting fish ponds. Small but great snorkeling and calm for kids. Interesting hiking trails accessible right from the property. Great place to base yourself if exploring the north of the island.
Cindy was great to deal with, always responding promptly to correspondence. Would definitely recommend the condo."

"3 things to consider about this place:
1) Location of Mauna Lani Terraces - GREAT! One of the few lower density places that is oceanfront Hawaii. I want to find a similar place on Oahu (i.e., I like that island the best for stays > 1 week). Also, we mixed up the daily routine between snorkeling on the edge of the reef (swimming from Mauni Lani Hotel to Beach Club), Beach Club, Mauni Lani Hotel beach, Mauni Lani Hotel pool, Fairmont beach, Fairmont pool and a few driving destinations (e.g., Pololu, Waimea, Hapuna)
2) Location of this unit within Mauna Lani Terraces - IDEAL! The patio spills out onto the grass. As such, my kids flowed back and forth between the unit, patio and the grass. The pool is about 50 steps from our patio. Importantly, it's really quiet there (i.e., not obnoxious to our unit) and it's fenced (i.e., don't have to worry about kids wandering in without supervision). The beach (300 feet away?) is directly on the other side of the fishpond (80 feet away). So, you get the ocean breeze and view. Finally, the fishpond is bounded by lava rocks ... keeps toddlers out.
3) The unit - Pretty good. Pros - Has everything you need, good light and air (fans), well maintained and immaculately cleaned. Cons - I'm not a big fan of carpet on principal and especially in a beach location. The fixtures are a little dated but work fine. The master bed was a bit soft for my back. These, however, are minor issues."

"Our entire family, including our 14 month old granddaughter, had a wonderful time here. The house was set up for a family on vacation -- the upstairs lanai with a view of Mauna Kea, a well-appointed kitchen with everything needed for cooking, bikes and boards in the garage, and comfortable spaces. It felt as if the owners were sharing their house, and not just furnishing a rental. Although not on the beach, it was close enough to walk. The work out area and pools are very convenient. Very well managed."
