  • Can't wait to go back!

"We just got home from 5 days at this awesome little guest house, and we wish we were still there! This house is beautifully maintained, and is situated on a secluded beach and turtle reserve. Make sure to wear water shoes though, as the lava rocks are rough on the feet! We came to the Big Island with our 4 year old and our 10 week old, and this rental was perfect for our little family. Peter, the local property manager, was on site our first full day there and he was so nice to us and gave us some really good tips for things to do and even recommended a great app for our space-loving preschooler. The employees at the Puako General Store were super friendly as well, and there were tons of healthy organic food options at this little store (we were pleasantly surprised by that!). Minutes away from one of the best beaches on the island (Hapuna Beach), but you can beat the crowds by hanging out on the beach in your backyard at this house and watch a ton of sea turtles while you are at it! All in all, we give this place two thumbs way up!"

  • Iconic Pu'ako beach house

"Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We could not have asked for a more "Hawaiian" house than this. It must have been the first house on this beach with its Polynesian feel. We were 4 adults and 2 young kids. Grandparents stayed in the separate unit; great to have that space. Kitchen worked well, very fully equipped. The big, open living room was the gathering place. The house is NOT little kid (1-2 year old) friendly so keep that in mind, especially with some of the owner's beautiful baskets and pottery. We put a lot out of reach. Best feature by far is direct access to great beach and bay for swimming, snorkeling. We were there from morning to night! House needs repairs soon, including driveway gates that are falling in and rotting wood walkways here and there. Most of those we ignored because of the splendor of the place, but owners should look closely at aging infrastructure. As we left, all we could talk about was "When can we come back?" NOTE: property managers were SUPERB -- responding quickly and professionally."

  • New and improved!!

"This unit is such a fantastic deal... not to mention that it now has a new kitchen and baths !!! The convenience of this unit is unmatched for unloading and going back and forth to the beach without a lot of hassle up and down stairs. The pool and outside areas are kept immaculate and the people are very nice and friendly. The Puako store is the best... amazingly has almost anything you need in a pinch."

  • Very nice beach front

"My husband and I stay in Puako every year. We have stayed in several properties and have rented this particular one twice. It is a large spacious home. The ocean view is wonderful and we enjoyed whale sightings and viewing ocean turtles from the Lanai. The reason for the 4 stars is the property is a bit outdated but comfy and fun. It is a great value for the size and the location. I would stay there again."
