  • The big island- we saw it ALL

"We started in Hilo for a few nights and did the volcano scene completely. Then came to Kona. We felt very spoiled here. From a local vibe in Hilo to a resort feel in Kona. Perfect. We were traveling with our college boys. Both are 6'3" so they made the best of the twin beds. Ha. Everything was there for us. The fins were nice, we had brought our own snorkel equipment but there was plenty there. And the hose on the back patio was great for hosing off the equipment. The cooler came in handy as we put over a thousand miles on our rental jeep. We went everywhere and this was a great location to come home to. We thoroughly enjoyed the golf course. The use of the clubs was perfect and because of the availability we did golf. If we had needed to rent clubs we probably wouldn't have bothered as we are not golfers on a regular basis but enjoy it on vacations. The course is fun and very doable for average golfers. Helicopter ride for the boys which they loved. Going to the Summit for sunset was great but choose to either get back for the star gazing info at the visitors center or stay and watch the beauty AFTER the sunset. Breakfast at the golf course satisfied us before we left for the airport. Be prepared, grocery store is pricey, shuttle bus is $2 a person. Lava lava, near "A beach" is a nice place for the last night for a sunset meal. A bit pricey but the view is nice so either make a rez or get there early."

  • Great Condo

"My husband and I stayed in this wonderful condo for a week. The condo was very comfortable, nicely appointed, and looks exactly like the pictures in VBRO. The pool and fitness center are just steps away from the condo. We made good use of the beach closet, which was well stocked with beach chairs, snorkel equipment, umbrellas, sand toys, beach towels and snorkel gear. It was nice finding a place that had all the amenities from snorkel gear to a fully furnished kitchen with everything you might need! We loved eating breakfast out on the lanai every morning and looking at the beautiful landscaping of the resort. It was so relaxing. Beaches are close by and shopping is just across the street from the entrance to the resort. We had a great time on the Big Island and never realized there was SO much to do here. After a busy day of excursions we loved coming home to the condo and just relaxing by the pool or watching our favorite TV program on the 55 inch TV. Jim provides very detailed instructions and descriptions of everything you need to know about the condo and he is prompt in responding to questions or concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends or book again for our next visit. Thanks so much for opening your home to us and all that you provided to make our Big Island experience an unforgettable one."

  • Fantastic Vacation Rental!

"Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My fiancé, her mom, sister and I had the most wonderful and relaxing time staying here. The place was very neat, clean, well decorated, and comfortable. We enjoyed the convenience of the location: walking to the beach in the mornings (just a 10 minute walk/ 4 minute drive!), being just a few minutes away from LavaLava Beach club and having the Island Gourmet and Queens Market / Kings Market across the street. We relaxed in the condo in the afternoons and took advantage of the spacious lanai and the outdoor grill. The kitchen was full of beautiful dishes and cooking supplies for all of our needs. The A.C. worked great which is a gem in Hawaii! We would love to come back and stay here again!"

  • Great views, nice location

"We stayed for a week in this lovely condo. We had 4 adults and 3 teenage kids. The kids report that the futons are very comfortable, and far superior to the sofa beds they usually get stuck on. They are located in the loft that has no walls and is above the living room, so I was a little worried that the sound from below would bother them, but it didn't seem to. They slept VERY soundly. The view from the master bedroom of the two volcanoes every morning was spectacular. We made great use of the pool and spa, which I didn't think we would given the proximity of the house to the beach. But after a day snorkeling, it was nice to just hang out in the pool together, before or after dinner. We had a nice lunch at the walkable Lava Lava Club, and enjoyed snorkeling with the turtles there. Visitors should know that, at least when we arrived, there was NO food in the pantry. Most of the VRBO places we have stayed have a few leftovers from the people before like plastic wrap, napkins, coffee, maybe a few staples (and once even a good bottle of wine that must not have fit in the suitcase or was forgotten). I think the property management must clear it completely out after every visitor because there was nothing except a nice spice rack with very old spices in it. There was almost enough dishwasher detergent for the whole week, but we did the last load or two by hand so we didn't have to buy the $10 package from the market at the Queens shops. This is not a big deal, and we would stay at this property again in a heartbeat. Some people probably would prefer that there aren't any "leftovers." But you may want to throw a few spices, a few ziplocs, and a few packs of dishsoap in your luggage if you have room."
