A slice of heaven
"We had stayed at the Hali'i Kai resort before but this was our first time in Mike and Wendy's condo. Their place is truly wonderful. Beautifully equipped, exquisitely decorated with wonderful furniture throughout and full of those little extras that makes a trip just perfect. The whole experience, from the booking online, to the pre-arrival information was handled easily and professionally through VRBO. Mike and Wendy contacted us prior to our arrival by email with relevant information and once at the condo by phone to ensure we had settled in nicely. In summary we have no problem offering an unreserved recommendation of this condo to anyone wanting to stay in Waikaloa"

"The condo was absolutely beautiful! It was in a perfect location to get to the pool, yet was quiet. The furniture was upscale, but comfortable and suited to both children and adults. Beach chairs, towels and all manner of beach gear is there for your use. This was our third stay at Fairway Villas. It is perfectly located for walking to the nearby Kings Shop and Queen's Marketplace, as well as the "A" beach area. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We were disappointed that Hapuna Beach now charges $5.00 a day for parking. We instead started going to Kea Bay Beach, the entrance of which is across from the Veteran's Cemetery. The beach opens at 9:00 am and is gorgeous! The waves are a little rough for younger ones and there is no shade. Also, you have to walk over a bit of lava to reach the beach. For shade and young ones, we recommend Spencer Beach. It has more of a park atmosphere, with picnic tables and shady spots. There are so many beautiful things to see on the island. Definitely go to The Hawaiian Botanical Gardens, preferably as early in the morning as possible since it gets hot and humid quickly. While over that way, visit Waiapo Valley and Akaka Falls. There will be a charge at Akaka. Actually, the best advice is to buy the latest addition of Hawaii The Big Island Revealed Guidebook by Andrew Doughty, which tells you everything you would want to know about the island. Our only other disappointment was that there wasn't any spices, cooking oil, etc. left over from other guests. Other condos we have stayed in had things left over in the pantry so that we didn't have to buy as much at the store. That is just a minor issue, though. We would recommend this condo to anyone and would not hesitate to stay there again ourselves!"

"Look no further! This villa condo was simply perfect! It is exactly as the description states and the pictures reflect. It was immaculate, well furnished, with tons of towels, exquisite Ola bath products, (leave your shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion and lip-balm at home!) kitchen appliances, dishware, lovely bedding and beautiful woodwork and artwork throughout. We loved having breakfast on the lanai, just outside the folding pocket doors. Grilling in the evening as the sun set in the west was picture perfect! It simply took our breath away, the minute we stepped in the door. It continued to take our breath away every day as we felt so blessed to stay in such an amazing villa. Kolea at Waikaloa is a perfect location on the Kohala Coast; easy to get to from the airport and easy to go to anywhere on the island. As there were only two of us and we didn't want CostCo sized items, we enjoyed grocery shopping at the local grocery store in the village of Waikaloa, not far from the property.
The grounds of villa are so very well taken care of. Plumeria was everywhere! The beach club access was such an added bonus to walk through right to the peaceful cove for our daily morning swim followed by a dip in the infinity pool. The villa was also thoughtfully stocked with beach mats, coolers, and boogie boards.
We would highly recommend this amazing property.
Our heartfelt thanks for this perfect stay! It was a dream vacation come true!
With blessings and Aloha!"

"We have been renting vacation homes from owners for over 10 years, sorting through many listings looking for that perfect rental. In March 2015, we chose a real winner. The Lepley’s were great to work with and villa and the Colony Villa property were a delight and exceeded our expectations. From the first day we arrived it felt like “home”. It’s spacious and although there was only two of us there is definitely lots of room for 6 adults. It’s nicely decorated and the furniture and beds are very comfortable. The unit was very clean, in good repair and all the appliances were in good working condition. They provided everything we needed for visits to the beach. The lanai faces east, a great spot for our early morning coffee. By mid-afternoon it is in cool shade. Perfect for afternoon drinks and supper. When we were looking for late afternoon sun- we simply moved our chairs out onto the lawn. The commercial grade gas BBQs located at the end of the driveway made cooking supper quick and easy and the BBQs were cleaned regularly by the maintenance staff. It’s the social gathering place in the early evening! The Colony Villa property is nicely landscaped and well maintained. We enjoyed lazy days around the pool. The water was warm and deck areas were clean and had several lounge chairs and tables. We took advantage of the golf discount package offered by the Lepley’s. We played both courses and found them to be in good shape. The friendly staff at the golf course always managed to find a tee time that worked for us.
The Waikoloa Beach resort area has a variety of restaurants, shops and a small supermarket and of course the best beach at “A” Bay. But, be sure to rent a car, pack your Big Island guide and GPS. With its quick access to major highways, the location of the Colony Villas is perfect for exploring this remarkable island. The upgrades and improvements to the Saddle Road allowed us to safely cross to Hilo in just over an hour, and reach the volcanoes in under two hours. Our day trip adventures included: secluded beaches; lush rainforests; quaint and charming old Hawaiian towns; finding local eateries and coffee shops; hikes over the lava to historic sites and national parks; fascinating volcanoes; and interesting botanical gardens. One of the highlights of our trip was a tour to Mauna Kea summit for sunset and star gazing with Adventure Tours. Not to be missed! It was a memorable way to end our GREAT vacation."
