"This was our first visit to the Big Island; and after extensive
research on VRBO, I was drawn to Hali'i Kai, Unit 12 in
Waikoloa for our week's vacation ~ truly a treasure in
paradise! From the outset, my interactions with owner,
Peggy, were pleasant. She was always available and responsive
to all questions about the area and the property.
What a surprise to land in Kailua-Kona Airport surrounded
by a moon-like lava landscape and to drive 18 miles south to
be welcomed by an oasis of lush vegetation, waterfalls, and
upscale shopping areas in Waikoloa. Hali'i Kai is a gated
community of lovely condominiums which are beautifully
landscaped, peaceful and quiet (unlike other dense condo
Opening the door to Unit 12A, we were immediately welcomed
by the stylish decor, spectacular vistas, and all the comforts of
home, including complimentary wine, beer, beverages, and
coffee. With meticulous attention to detail, Peggy has thought
of everything to make a visit to her condo comfortable and
memorable! Reviewers have covered the luxurious and
spacious living quarters, comfortable beds, large bathrooms,
top of the line linens, heavy duty front loading washer and
dryer with cleaning products, closet of aquatic equipment,
umbrellas, tennis racquets, games and books. The kitchen is
well-stocked for even the gourmet cook. We especially
appreciated having wi-fi, a computer and printer at our disposal.
Location of Unit 12A is unbeatable!! From our balcony,
view to the west of spectacular sunsets over the Pacific.
To the east, a view of Mauna Loa (the highest mountain on
earth when measured from the sea floor). And it is a short
walk to the clubhouse for fitness workout, a dip in the pool
or food and beverage. 12A is also right off the 7th hole
of the beach golf course.
My husband and I will be certain to request Unit 12A when we
return to the Big Island. We were also pleased that we stayed on
the west side of the island as we enjoyed sunshine every day. We
drove the two hour trek to Hawaii Volcano National Park via
Hilo where it does receive a lot of precipitation. Fortunately,
the next day, we booked the 7:00 a.m. helicopter ride over
the volcanos from Pacific Helicopters. That same morning,
the helicopter ride from Hilo had been cancelled due to rain.
I apologize that my enthusiasm for Unit 12 A has resulted in
a lengthy review.
Reluctantly, we leave paradise and Hali'i Kai, but with wonderful
