  • Superb Villa!

"The house at Waikoloa Colony Villas is very luxuriously finished. A beautiful place, excellent beds, airconditioning etc. There's a garage to park you car, tennis and snorkling gear and even two bicycles. The resort is extremely well maintained. The kids enjoyed the nearby pool and we used one of the two BBQ's there frequently. The King's and Queen's marketplace have everything you need in terms of shopping and eating. The beach is right around the corner. Whether you are a golfer or not, you'll enjoy this place. We know we did!"

  • Truly Oceanfront

"This condo is great and is exactly as advertised – truly oceanfront. We watched the whales every morning from the lanai while drinking Kona coffee, and fell asleep every night to the sound of the waves and cool ocean breezes (we neither needed nor used the air conditioning – we were so happy to have the sea breeze and the sound of the waves). Hali’i Kai is upscale and quiet. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The pool is fancy. Condo #13C is quite nice and furnished with attractive wood furniture. The master bathroom is very roomy, with “his and her” sinks. The WiFi/broadband worked great. We grilled most nights on the community gas grill at the pool, just a minute or two walk from this condo. That was not inconvenient, especially because we let grilled meat rest a few minutes before serving. The kitchen appliances are deluxe (Sub Z frig, Wolf range). There are enough pots and pans and utensils to prepare a simple meal -- we sautéed ono one night – but we love to cook at home so of course we have many more kitchen tools at home than we found in the condo. In the Waikoloa Beach Resort, we’ve also stayed in Kolea. Kolea condos are more luxurious – Kolea condos have lots of marble and exotic wood – and also larger. But we prefer Hali’i Kai #13C because it is oceanfront, not oceanview like the Kolea condos. (I see marble and exotic wood every morning when I walk into my own home’s master bathroom, but my own home is not anywhere near any ocean, and is also not anywhere near the tropics.) There is an enormous difference between oceanfront and oceanview if you want to see whales, hear and smell the ocean, and really capture aloha spirit – and Hali’i Kai #13C is oceanfront. Owner Helen was very responsive during the rental process, and called to make sure everything was okay after we checked in, but we never needed any help – condo was very clean, and everything in the condo worked as it should. Hali’i Kai #13C is where we intend to stay next time we’re on the Big Island."

  • Better than expected!

"We are from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and we are already talking about how soon our we will be able to return to Karen and David's condo at Hali'i Kai!! Needless to say, we highly recommend it! We stayed for one week and wished it could have been two! The description of the property and the pictures were accurate and reliable. I had booked the condo and my husband said it was even better than he expected. I don't think you could ask for a better location: private, with stunning views of the ocean and the 7th hole of the golf course. The grounds are immaculately kept and the pool area is beautiful. Evening sunsets from the pool deck or the 7th hole green, are outstanding. We also enjoyed the Happy Hour at the complex's restaurant :) We could go on and on about how much we enjoyed the property; it exceeded our expectations! Based on what we saw, it is the best location within the complex, offering a unique mix of amazing views, quiet and privacy, all within a 3 minute walk to the pool and restaurant/bar complex. Thank you David and Karen. You have a wonderful home, and were great to deal with. Mahalo!"

  • Maryland Family

"Stayed for 8 nights in Jan 2015 and had an incredible time. Condo is a very comfortable home away from home. Well stocked with many extras to make vacation even more relaxing. There is starter supplies of shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper, soaps, laundry detergent, etc. that is very helpful so you don't have to bring everything with you. Plenty of towels to use. Kids really enjoyed using the boogie boards and even played basketball several times. The pool and dining were incredible and staff very friendly and always giving tips on places to visit and best beaches. Doug, the owner, very easy to work with. Would definitely stay again!"
