  • Exceeded our expectations!

"This was our 3rd time to the Big Island, and 2nd time with our family (3 kids under age 10). We brought one set of grandparents too, so there were 7 of us total. We enjoyed working with the condo owner Bill; he was very helpful, responsive, and accommodating. His onsite manager is a real pleasure to work with. The condo is very spacious and furnished beautifully. The kitchen was very well equipped and we used the grill on the lanai several times. Parking was limited and tight but adequate. The amenity center with a beautiful pool and hot tub, work out room and community room was very close by. It was quiet, comfortable, and the VIEW! AMAZING!! The proximity to the Hapuna and Mauna Kea Beaches was exactly what we were after. We paid the extra fee (arranged through the condo owner but paid directly to the hotel) to have access to the hotel pools and towel service. Totally worth it. The Mauna Kea Hotel's poolside and ocean lounge chairs get "saved" early in the day which is frustrating. That didn't seem to be the case at the Hapuna Beach Hotel though. Stop at Costco right after landing and buy yourself a boogie board. You'll get tons of use out of it if you spend any time at these beaches! The Mauna Kea luau was fun. They don't advertise it much but there is an option to go to just the show and skip dinner. When we compared the dinner + show cost vs. just show, we decided dinner is NOT worth it. The kids were happier eating at the condo and the show was worth every penny. Both the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Hotels offer a breakfast that is to die for in a setting that is just so beautiful. Casual dining options are expensive and limited near these beaches, which is another reason a condo was a MUST for us this time around with the family along. We considered the Waikaloa Beach/Kolea Condos, Mauna Lani Condos, Private Homes in North Kohala, and others. I am SO GLAD we stayed at Mauna Kea and in this particular unit. It was AWESOME."

  • Everything You Want In One Place

"Stayed for one week in July 2014. Family of 8, 3 couples and 2 teens, with 3 cars. The listing and photos are very accurate. This is an amazing condo with plenty of space, and never felt crowded. We would definitely stay here again. The owners and management company are incredibly responsive. On arrival, we discovered that the wifi router was failing, and it was replaced the next day. During our stay, the kitchen sink plugged up and was cleared the same day. Single-car garage, but plenty of parking within a few steps. There are tons of supplies in the garage, including 6+ beach chairs, body boards, snorkel gear, aqua socks, beach mats, a beach umbrella, etc. Check the supplies before you buy anything. The pool is a few steps away. It's a two block walk to the Queens Shops, which includes a food court and grocery store. It's a 15-minute walk to A' Beach. If you're not planning any site seeing, you could easily stay here without a car. Our only complaints, and they're minor, were that we were charged $15 for a third set of keys (only two are provided) and there were insufficient paper supplies (paper towels, toilet paper). Charge an extra $5 per stay and don't trouble me with having to buy my own."

  • Fantastic beach house

"We were a party of 3 celebrating a birthday. The house was very clean and well equipped when we arrived. The open layout of the property was uniquely inviting and relaxing. We appreciated the stainless and concrete finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms as they are very beach friendly and worry free. We occupied rooms #3 and #4, both spacious and comfortable. The house was also a great vantage point for either day trips or a lazy day on the beautiful beach just footsteps away. We had some concerns about bugs prior to arrival, but they were not an issue at all. Our interactions with Mary, Marley, and the rest of the 2 Papayas staff were very cordial and professional. We would definitely stay at the Treadwell House again."

  • Terrific vacation rental

"We stayed here during the holidays and thoroughly enjoyed it. The condo was well appointed, clean, kitchen well stocked with utensils and tools, spacious, amazing view and comfortable. Big sofa, roomy modern kitchen, huge lanai, lots of ceiling fans if you want to avoid using AC (but good AC if you want it). Property management was helpful and flexible. For much less than the per night price of the two nearby resort hotels, you get a huge space, 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, amazing views and, for $100 extra per adult (regardless of how long you stay), full access to the hotels and their amenities through the amenity package. You get the Mauna Kea Hotel experience for a fraction of the price. For anyone traveling as a family, this makes so much more sense than cramming into an overpriced hotel room forced to spend huge bucks at hotel breakfast/lunch/dinner. Note that while there is a grill pictured, it is not for renter use -- but no worries because the pool at the condo complex, a short walk away, has a nice Weber grill, so we had our own pool party with fish tacos made from fresh mahi mahi picked up at Bite Me Fish Market at the harbor. In short, this is a fantastic property. We will rent here again for sure."
