  • Great stay, wonderful unit

"This is our second stay at Hali'i Kai but our first in this unit. The property is truly fantastic. Every afternoon at the pool area you are treated to a whale show. The private members restaurant and bar at the pool is very handy and very popular at happy hour. The unit is very well equipped, well furnished and was spotless when we arrived. A surprisingly comfortable bed in the master. The units with the golf course views or ocean views are the ones to get and this one has both. Fairly private lanai compared to most of the units. Great spot to watch sunsets. Hope to return!"

  • Great base for exploring north coast of Big Island

"We had been to the Big Island once before, about five years ago, where we stayed in Kona. This time we wanted a quieter accommodation and to spend more time exploring the north end of the island. Kohala Lodge was a great base and excellent value. We found the lodge to be even more attractive than the pictures on this site convey. The owners have clearly spent a lot of time making the cabin comfortable, well equipped and welcoming. Both inside and outside of the lodge were clean and well maintained. Certainly the weather here is cooler and more changeable than the Kona coast but that is one of its attractions. Our kids really enjoyed watching and feeding the sheep and horses on the property and there was a wide variety of bird life to be seen. Hapuna Beach is about 30 mins away but there are other beaches and many excellent snorkelling spots that are closer. We saw lots of whales each time we drove along the coast and there are plenty of historic sites, hiking trails and viewpoints to satisfy a range of interests. We would recommend this property to anyone interested in a more authentic Big Island experience."

  • This unit really does have it all!!!

"My husband and I spent 6 wonderful weeks in Linda's lovely condo. The accommodations were so much more than we had anticipated. Aside from the condo being immaculate all the finishes were high end and the unit was tastefully decorated. Everything you could possibly need was supplied and very much appreciated.Location was great, close to several beaches, shopping, and night time entertainment. Thank-you Linda for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous home,we hated to leave."

  • Awesome location!

"We rented this house for ourselves, our son and daughter in law and toddler. The location in Puako is perfect! We could swim between the rocks in a sandy section just down the beach, explore tide pools right in front, and snorkel with the numerous turtles without driving. Within driving range, a mere 5 minute drive away, are three beautiful and unique beaches -- Beach 69, Haupuna Beach, and Mauna Kai Beach (in front of the resort but open to public). Puako has a small general store, but nearby Waimea has everything else one could need, including a great brew pub -- the Big Island Brewhaus. Mostly, we enjoyed our location so much we were happy sitting on the sea wall enjoying the tropical breezes and incredible sunsets. The house is not new or fancy or remodeled, which we were fine with. There's a lot to be said for a beach bungalow! It was clean and comfortable and had most everything we needed including beach chairs, towels, etc. There is an ant issue in the kitchen which we were aware of from reading other reviews -- a very typical problem on the islands and not a big deal to us. The lawn area is perfect for a toddler and the sea wall was helpful as a border to the bay. We loved putting our chairs up on the sea wall and watching the turtles swim and come ashore each evening. We would definitely return and continue our explorations of the Big Island! Thank you for a wonderful stay!"
