  • Had a whale of a time!

"We had a super vacation and spent much of it just relaxing at Hale Lauhau. We felt so at home and appreciated all the effort the owners have put into providing their guests with all the amenities one could hope for. My partner had never been to Hawaii before and I wanted our first vacation together to be special. We had just finished rebuilding our house after a devastating fire back home and we were both in need of relaxation and inspiration. From the moment we arrived at the front gates and were greeted by a whale's great tail slapping we were hooked! We were mesmerized by the constant whale activity. Cooking was a pleasure in the beautiful kitchen with almost every gadget and appliance provided. Dining out on the deck at sunset was heaven! Then off to the outdoor jacuzzi to enjoy some dark sky stargazing. At night you can watch one of literally hundreds of commercial-free movies and TV shows in the Internet library. For those needing to stay connected there's internet and even free long-distance to the mainland. Learn to play the ukelele or read from dozens of books on the Big Island's history, flora and fauna, culture and attractions. Tons of restaurants within a 5-30 minute pleasant drive in all directions. From great burgers just down the street to five-star dining at the Kohala resorts and in Waimea you'll find what you're craving. The location is an excellent base from which to head out to see the sites. For starters, drive along the North Kohala coast from Hale Lauhau to Hawi and the Pololu Valley Lookout and trailhead -it is an easy ride and an amazing introduction to the Big Island's geographic diversity. Go from a dry, sunny, savannah-like landscape (a great place to be when it's raining just about every where else!) and within 30 minutes you'll pass through lush, rolling grasslands and into thick, tropical jungle. Take Kohala Mountain Road back to Waimea and marvel as your literally drive through the clouds in this mysterious and lush green landscape that strangely evokes some fairytale English countryside. Check out the Waimea Farmers' Market Saturdays for a sampling of the Island's bounty. I know I sound like some advertisement but this is the real thing folks! Thank you Sue for your attention to detail, your Aloha spirit and for making our Hawaii vacation more than we had hoped for."

  • Home Away From Home

"What a wonderful place to stay while visiting the beautiful island of Hawaii over the holidays. The photos included represent the condo perfectly. The Condo was clean, roomy and well equipped with towels, sheets, beach toys and kitchen items. Everything we needed was there. It is within walking distance of a grocery store and places to eat and is located on very well maintained and beautiful grounds. Breakfast at Lava Java and dinner at Pueo's Osteria was fabulous. The owner Amanda was very helpful and always available. Since we were traveling over the holidays she alerted us to local store hours and their locations. Our 2 week vacation could not have been better."

  • Vacation in Paradise

"We have been coming to Hawaii for 4 years now and always stay in Kolea. The apartments - this one included - are beautifully furnished and maintained. The property is gorgeous and the beach club is perfect for kids. We especially love the kids' sand pool, the infinity-esque hot tub and the free Kona coffee in the mornings. This unit completely met and exceeded our already high expectations. The unit is very similar to other units, but what really sets it apart is that it is well stocked with everything you need for a beach vacation! They have beach toys, beach chairs, boogie boards, a high chair and pack n play (in case you have younger kids), cooler bags, beach towels, etc, etc, etc. These little touches really went a long way to making our stay even more comfortable, easy and relaxing than usual. The apartment is clean, all of the utilities work, and there are loads of extra sheets, towels, etc. Thank you for a lovely vacation!"

  • Beautiful property and amazing vacation

"My family and I stayed here for a week in June and will definitely be back. The home was clean, well maintained and the photos/description were spot on. The property has everything you could possible need or want and you cannot beat the location. The pools are close to the condo and the private beach is just a short drive away (you could walk if it's not too hot). You are within driving distance of everything (Costco, Kona Waterfront, Kohala Zipline, Helicopter rides) and there is a marketplace just a few minutes away. I would recommend this property to everyone (which I already have) and you will not be disappointed."
