"We had a wonderful trip to Hawaii and it all started here! Thank you Gary for taking us diving in great
locales. As beginner divers, we really appreciated all of Gary's patience and help! He had extra equipment that we used, took his jeep down with us every day, and provided tanks and weights. Our teenage son really enjoyed talking to Gary about music. We are so glad that we stayed here and received an insider's guide to Hawaii's diving and snorkeling. The cottage itself is spacious, clean, secluded and has a wonderful lanai to sit out on and eat meals or just relax. We'll definitely stay here again if we come back. Thank you again, Gary and Susan for being such thoughtful hosts and making our vacation so memorable."

"What fantastic place!! We loved Kealakekua Bay, and the house was just as impressive. As a realtor, I see A LOT of houses….this house has amazing flow, easily the best of any vacation rental I’ve ever been in, and better than 99% of the houses I see on the market. The layout is just totally perfect. You land, and it all just works so well-very intuitive. Super thoughtful design. It’s simple, but simply fabulous. Especially perfect layout for groups (we were two families) in that the house layout enables private spaces, and wonderful group gathering places as well. The large Lanai is to die for-massive slider doors open from the kitchen/living area onto the lanai, so provides for truly seamless indoor outdoor living. A complete wrap-around deck allows for multiple private outdoor spaces. Truly, just a fantastic layout and utilization of space. Everything needed was just right there, we loved renting kayaks (from Rufus just around the corner, such a sweet guy) and touring the bay. Really just a very special place, perfect location, perfectly furnished, and uniquely fabulous layout and design of home that made it a PERFECT place to stay. Thank you so very much!!! No dishwasher, which is no big deal, but does mean family gathers to do dishes after a meal. I know the friend we brought is already planning a return to the Big Island and wants to stay at your place…she also thought it was marvelous, and is dying to share the Aloha House with her family…"

"I recently ventured to Pu'u Mahana with my family, the property was amazing and the owner was a delight to work with and made our experience that much better! I stayed in one of the beautiful master rooms with an en suite right off the pool, what a way to wake up and start my day. The infinity pool, is beautiful and large and obviously well maintained. Turtles are etched into the bottom and I've always wanted to swim with turtles in Hawaii! Birds also joined me on the edge of the pool to bathe while I enjoyed my morning Kona coffee that was in the welcome basket left by the owner. My family and I spent most of our five day vacation on the property relaxing with a few trips into town or to the beach. Finally, there was nothing like finishing off the day watching the sun set over the large view from the patio with a glass of wine, the tiki torches lit and the laughter of my family surrounding me. The amenities and property surpassed my expectations and made for a very peaceful stay!"

Welcoming arbor+ real Hawaiian experience+ real relaxation= immersion in a true Hawaiian vacation
"I've been to Hawaii before. Staying in the insulated boxes of the Sheraton/big box hotels and having a very tourist type experience that was bland and fake feeling.
But staying at a home, with all the things I needed, right in the middle of the local scene was a real Hawaiian vacation. I felt more connected with my vacation and relaxed far more than in any hotel. This home is close enough to run into town and do shopping and be a tourist or better yet.... follow the locals every morning as they walk past your porch to swim with dolphins at the Captain Cook Cove (Kealalekua Bay) and local park.
I loved being among the locals; feeling connected to the land and sea and felt less like a tourist in this home and more at home and at ease. It was wonderful..it is the only way I will vacation from now on and it was very hard to leave!!
The home has all you need, just grab food. It has plenty of room for all and the view was wonderful and special. My 16 yr old spent his time on the top floor observation deck and that is the best place to take a nap!! The sunsets up top were amazing, BBQ in the sweet shady backyard and then have dinner with the sun and sea at your fingertips from the top deck.
Stroll across the street and snorkel your heart out, walk home and enjoy the huge double shower to get the sand off and at your fingertips are the washer and dryer and sink to keep your suits clean and sand free. I found this to be so much nicer than having to worry about washing things off in a hotel room.
This is a very special home to vacation in and the location was wonderful.
Ill be going back as soon as I can."
