  • Spectacular in Everyway!

"Ridiculously beautiful view from a giant, airy suite overlooking the ocean and coffee orchard. The pictures do not do this fantastic studio apartment justice - it's stunning, yet simple and elegant. Carol is a gracious, generous and thoughtful hostess, providing everything a traveler needs, from travel/ Hawaii history/plant/animal books to soaps to linens to beach/adventure gear to her delish organic coffee to filtered water, grill, super comfy bed and more! The suite is gorgeous, light-filled with skylights and tastefully furnished with little nooks for eating, reading and relaxing. Definitely the most beautiful and most quiet place we stayed in on our 3 week island adventure. A suite like this in a hotel or resort would easily be in the several hundred dollar range. Fast wifi, cable, gorgeous bathroom with amazing shower; every wall is a window so you can see the ocean, sunrise, sunset, horses, wild turkeys, avocado and coffee trees and the rest of paradise. Or you can draw the shades and sleep-in. Conveniently located up the mountain from Captain Cook, which has a grocery. A perfect getaway/adventure-base/vacation hideaway. I would never leave if I lived here...."

  • Great find!!

"Very nice property with lots of space! Beautiful view. Great little beach at the bottom of the hill for watching the sunsets!! Easy to find. The drive is steep but by the second day we were used to it. Had no problem getting in and out. Hawaii is on a volcano. A lot of the driveways and roads are steep.;) the water pressure was low. Talked to one of the neighbors and he said it could be the water filters. We just made sure to not run the washer or dishwasher while anyone showered. It all worked out fine!! We loved the lay out and enjoyed our view!! The house was clean and well kept!! Thank you!!"

  • Million Dollar Views, Amazing Property

"We rented Kai Ea based for the view but the photos of this property do not do it justice. It is an impeccably decorated, spotless, comfortable home with amazing drop dead gorgeous views. No small detail was overlooked, even the landscaping was perfect. We enjoyed using the well equipped kitchen and the outdoor shower. We loved sitting on the lanai to watch sunrise/sunsets. We loved the mountain goats that graze below the property, so cute. We even had a hurricane pass near the Big Island and we were rained in for a day but it was no problem as it was a pleasure to relax and enjoy the home. The owner was easy to work with and very helpful. I have rented many vacation properties over the years and this house is by far the BEST rental I have ever done. We have crazy stressful jobs and Kai Ea was the perfect place to escape, unwind and let go. Already looking forward to renting it again."

  • Great Family Getaway

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Michelle was extremely helpful and responsive prior to and during our stay, without being the least bit intrusive. The house itself was perfect for our family. We had 6 adults, our older parents had the downstairs to themselves but we essentially ate every meal and spent all of our time on the upstairs lanai so we could enjoy the beautiful views. We did spend a lot of time in the car as the location is somewhat remote...but it didn't bother us. A Driving around seeing the sights is what we enjoy doing. We did visit the nearby attractions: coffee plantations, painted church, local beaches. The town of Captain Cook, with a grocery store and restaurant options, is about 15-20 minutes away. We did pick up take-out from the local thai restaurant in Captain Cook on the night we flew in so we'd have something to eat when we arrived at the house. We would stay again."
