  • Breathtaking Views

"Since our return from Hawaii, a day does not pass that the view from the Pu'uhonua House‏ is not remembered. The “treehouse” as the children affectionately named it provided landscaped grounds with Hawaiian plants, coconuts, pineapples, coffee, and papayas for all to investigate. Indoors the pole house provided a variety of sleeping arrangements including separate bedrooms and a loft and was plenty big enough for our family of five. The Pu'uhonua House‏ is centrally located so that there is driving access to a variety of sites and activities including beaches, snorkeling, boats, surfing and historic landmarks. The house grill is more than adequate to cook a fine steak to end the day and then begin the evening with a beautiful sunset and speckled lights accenting the valley below. The owners were wonderful to work with and responded to any emails or questions quickly. We highly recommend the Pu'uhonua House!"

  • Fantastic Dive Holiday

"We stayed at Sugar Cottage for a week at the beginning of Nov. The cottage was very comfortable and quiet. Garry was an excellent Dive Master. I did 6 terrific dives with him. The sites we dove were incredible - so clear and lots to see. We enjoyed exploring the southern part of the island. Wish we had stayed longer as there is so much to see & do on the Big Island. A big thanks to Garry & Susan - we so enjoyed our visit."

  • Celebrity status house on Big Island

"The house exceeded our expectations on a few fronts: The view from the top of Kona is breathtaking. It appears that the house is well known among the locals because of that. Expect to be recognized as the Dolphin Kona houseguests throughout Kona community The main house it is in excellent shape; the floor plan is contemporary, beautiful, spacious, comfortable - 13 of use never felt crowded or constrained - whether congregating, having a dinner, or just relaxing all over the place. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need for cooking and eating. Between the two buildings comprising the property the sleeping arrangements were completely adequate, and this is an understatement, for all 13 of us. There is abundance of linens, bath towels, and beach towels. Everything, including all appliances and electronics - was in perfect order. All baths, hot tub, fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee maker - you name it, we had no problem with it whatsoever. Dan The Man(ager) of the property is very attentive, personable, and is in a stand-by mode at all times to address any of the inconveniences or concerns you might have. Mobile connection might be spotty, although Verizon customers amongst us did not experience any problems. WiFi works quite well, we did not register any interruptions. Overall - kudos to the owner and Property Manager for maintaining the house in perfect welcoming order."

Your host Beth...yes, she's a real person and husband Dave will point you in just the right direction for the best local dining, water sports, shopping, and sight-seeing. Definitely worth a return visit!"
