Just about perfect getaway
"We stayed 8 days and had a wonderful time. The house easily accommodated our party of 15 and worked great for all ages (1-year-old baby to 69 year-old grandpa). We found the entire house very clean when we arrived and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has a good stove, refrigerator and dishwasher and is arranged so it is easy to work in. The center island is large and makes a good place for serving. There are lots and lots of pot and pans, bowls, utensils, plates, etc.
When we were there there were several boxes of snorkeling equipment, kids beach toys and a couple of kayaks all of which we made use of.
The big lanai off the living room/kitchen is especially inviting and we spent a lot of time there relaxing, talking, eating and playing games. The yard is large and lovely with lots of beautiful flowers and coconut and papaya trees. The house feels secluded even though there are several houses nearby. All the foliage blocks the other houses.
It is close to the ocean and there are areas within a couple of minutes easy walk that are safe and interesting for babies, children and adults. We saw spinner dolphins in the morning, snorkeled and kayaked later in the day. The tide pools at Manini Beach are fascinating.
We found the owner and manager both to be easy to work with and quick to respond to emails.
We would recommend it and would love to go back ourselves."

"Wow! This place is as close as anyone can get of a true Hawaiian experience without actually living there. The atmosphere is tranquilizing, peaceful and as tropical as it gets. Harry has put a lot of heart into the landscape with every flower imaginable and the furnishings just add to the natural beauty. waking to the sounds of the birds and outdoors is the best! We looked forward each morning to our cup of coffee on the patio overlooking the ocean among all the beauty. And Harry makes every accommodation possible to enhance your experience. He's a phone call away or out of sight, whichever you prefer. And it's in a great location to experience a variety of beaches, hikes and volcanic sights which Harry gladly gives insight to. We hope to go back again and would highly recommend it to anyone! A unique unforgettable experience! So grateful that Harry shared it with us."

"I recently ventured to Pu'u Mahana with my family, the property was amazing and the owner was a delight to work with and made our experience that much better! I stayed in one of the beautiful master rooms with an en suite right off the pool, what a way to wake up and start my day. The infinity pool, is beautiful and large and obviously well maintained. Turtles are etched into the bottom and I've always wanted to swim with turtles in Hawaii! Birds also joined me on the edge of the pool to bathe while I enjoyed my morning Kona coffee that was in the welcome basket left by the owner. My family and I spent most of our five day vacation on the property relaxing with a few trips into town or to the beach. Finally, there was nothing like finishing off the day watching the sun set over the large view from the patio with a glass of wine, the tiki torches lit and the laughter of my family surrounding me. The amenities and property surpassed my expectations and made for a very peaceful stay!"

"We have fond memories of our stay in the Paniolo King Suite. We were comfortable there, slept well and felt very relaxed with just the right amount of privacy. The kitchen was more than equipped for making meals and all the fans help to cool the suite down on hot humid days. Historic Honaunau Bay/Two Step and the Captain Cook monument were nearby so having the snorkel and beach gear to borrow made this a great place to stay for first time Big Island visitors. Dave and Beth's advice for outings was an added bonus - they really know their part of the Island and for that we can't thank them enough! The only downside for us was the fact that the screens allowed a few too many flying bugs through in the evenings while we were trying to read by the lights. Other than that, this is a super place to stay!"
