A wonderful, relaxing stay!
"I spent 11 restful nights at the Koa Cabin and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The cabin is well stocked with virtually everything needed for an extended stay. Heide and Jeffrey make visitors feel extra special with their warm Hawaiian hospitality and treat their guests to fresh fruit, fresh baked bread and jam, and local Kona coffee. Just slightly off the beaten path (which is exactly the point) and yet conveniently located, a stay at the Koa Cabin is a unique get away to a place that is truly special. It was hard to leave but I hope to return again soon!"

"This lovely cottage-like home was perfect place for our family of five to spend a week. We felt at home as soon as we entered and, while the house had every conceivable convenience and thoughtful detail, it was still homey and comfortable. We ate all our meals and spent much lounging time outdoors in the large front lanai or spacious back yard. The kitchen was very well equipped, including a coffee grinder and mixer. We also were able to use the snorkel gear and boogie board that are available. Bird song and gentle surf are the music you hear as the occasional mongoose scampers through the yard. Each morning and evening we took our coffee or cocktails the 3 minute walk to watch spinner dolphins in the Bay. You can swim there or walk 5 min or so to gentle Manini Beach.
The drive to Captain Cook for groceries and other services is about 20-30 minutes and it is a short drive to the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge) and spectacular snorkeling at "Two Step" and to the beach at Ho'okena."

"All the previous commenters have described this cottage well: beautiful location, easy access to everywhere, and helpful, friendly host. If we are lucky enough to visit the Big Island again, we will arrange our travel schedule to be able to stay here. Charles describes this cottage as "close but far..." and this says it all. It's far from crowds, busy roads, etc., but close to the bay, close to town, and its easy to get anywhere from here. We appreciated the chance to relax on the large lanai and watch the birds, the ocean, and the sunsets. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook meals regularly. We very much appreciated Charles' willingness to let us leave late on our departure day, as nobody was scheduled to come in immediately. We would definitely love to have the opportunity to return!"

"The view from this house during our stay was by far the best memory from our stay on the Big Island. Kayaking across to the Captain Cook Monument, snorkeling right off the rocks and playing in the tidepools with our young twins were just several of the many activities that we enjoyed. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone is very friendly. The house even includes a nice lawn to play on. The only drawback I can think of for the house is the drive from the main highway to the house itself which takes about 10 minutes each way (which isn't very much if you think about it). Once you get to the house and you see the sea right there, it makes it all worthwhile. Thank you to the owners and the rental agency, everyone was great and our family enjoyed our time at this amazing oceanfront home. Mahalo."
