Far from the Madding Crowd
"Banana Bungalow provided just the secluded escape we were looking for, away from the bustle of the city but close enough to everything we wanted to experience - ten minutes from Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (the most extensive historical site), ten minutes from beautiful beaches for fantastic snorkeling, two hours from Volcano National Park, and twenty minutes from good dining. The ocean south of Kona is less turbulent than in the north, where winds whip up the waters, important for less experienced snorkelers. And the bungalow was delightful, offering all of the creature comforts in a lush, jungly setting. There is no need to rent beach gear, as masks, fins, boogie boards, and beach umbrellas are provided. And not to be missed - Bwana Bob's very funky coffee roasting workshop!
Thanks, Susan and Steve, for welcoming us so warmly!"

"We could not have picked a better rental for our two-week vacation. August and Davia were kind and very generous with their secrets to explore the Big Island. Their garden lot is spectacular and our room was absolutely spotless. We will defiantly return to Hale Gediminas on our next visit."

"My wife and I, our two daughters, their partners and two grandchildren all stayed here for the most wonderful week. The house is outstanding with a huge wrap-around porch and each of the four bedrooms had its own bathroom. The kitchen is super equipped and stocked with spices, oils etc. We all loved the pool, kids most of all. This area of the island has everything close by; beaches, restaurants, stores, historic sites, coffee farms and Kailua is only 25 minutes away. The manager is next door and very friendly and helpful. We couldn't have been happier. The worst part was having to leave."

"Aloha. We just got back from our stay in the most perfect setting on the Big Island. If you want the resort life style, this is not your place. But if you want to experience your own piece of Hawaii heaven, this is just your place. This little bungalow is sitting in a tropical jungle that affords you privacy and beauty. Each morning I sat on the lanai in a comfy chaise, drank my tea and enjoyed the marvelous view.
At first I was concerned about the no air conditioning thing, but afternoon, evening and early mornings are very cool. The days may have been hot/warm but we were out exploring so it didn't bother us at all.
I really miss it and hope that I can return.
ps: the geckos love whipped cream and jelly"
