"A perfect setting and atmosphere for the small retreat we hosted. Intimate and beautiful. Welcomed with lots of aloha. Couldn't have been more perfect."

  • Beautiful Place To Stay

"A beautiful home on a beautiful piece of property. We stayed in the Ohana guest house and it exceeded our expectations in most areas. It is very clean, private and quiet. The views from the Lanai are phenomenal. Nice hardwood floors so be sure to take your shoes off before entering,,, as the fun note on the side says. This is pretty common these days and not at all unreasonable. The market isn't real close by so be sure to plan a trip to the store. We stopped prior to arriving at the house on our fist day. We also made a Costco run the next day to stock up for the week. The house is not in the main tourist area which is why we booked it, we didn't want the noise & congestion of that part of the Island. Perfect, no but I'd go back in a minute. Beautiful home, I'd recommend it to anyone going to the Big Island. I do have to comment on a review someone else did complaining about the pool not being heated. Geeze, it's Hawaii and " nobody " heats their pools. After all it's a swimming pool not a Sauna. The " house information book " makes it clear that there is a charge for turning the hot tub on which to me is odd...but that's okay we probably wouldn't have used it anyway. There's also a charge if you want the air conditioning on. but by opening the windows ( they are screened ) and having the fans on it was never warm or uncomfortable. It was perfect. As stated they supply very nice towels and there is a washer & dryer so you need to do your own laundry, after all it's a house, not a hotel. I did find it all that we were only given one roll of paper towels and two extra rolls of toilet paper. Odd yes but not unreasonable I suppose, there's a WalMart & Target down the road. Another review or two mention that Dan wasn't necessarily the most polite person. So what if his interpersonal skills are less than you'd get at Macy's. After all it is his house and his business. He even apologized for his being curt during an email we got. He was off island during our stay so we dealt with the property manager Tammy who was very nice and professional. A good source for local information too."

  • The View or "I must be dreaming, because this place is un-real!"

"Our comments echo all previous 5 star reviews. Words and photos only attempt to describe Kai Ea's state of bliss. You must experience it yourself. Our favorite features include, the view, the outdoor shower, the lanai, the peacefulness, the view, the art, the architecture, the view, the comfy furnishings, the view, and the view. Dennis is friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Kai Ea, The Breath of the Sea will forever be our 1st choice when we are on Hawai'i Island."

  • Ocean Lovers Dream Vacation

"Our family of 4 stayed at Su Gar Cottage for a few days. We had a fantastic time exploring the ocean with Garry. He showed us the best snorkeling places and had we been into Scuba Diving he would have done that too. The house itself is totally set up with a great screened-in Lanai to spend most moments. There was a BBQ for the fresh fish we bought at a roadside stand. We had a blast and would recommend it to anyone who has plans on exploring the ocean. The tree frogs were unbelievable and greeted us every night and lulled us to sleep. The house and surroundings were very peaceful and quiet."
