  • Beautiful house and convenient location

"The house is beautiful, spacious, and has everything you need; the large garden is a wonder for kids to explore. We were only 6, but 10 people can be very comfortable here. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a blender for making tasty smoothies. We benefited from the snorkel gear, towels, boogie board, coolers, and even clothed for cooler weather (which you'll need if you go to Mauna Kea). We stayed 7 days and were sad to leave. Marci and Chuck were very helpful to us when we needed them, plus they had fruit and coffee for us on arrival. I liked the closeness to Honaunau for picnic and sunset and 2 step for snorkeling. The house is very close to a wonderful fruit stand (at mile 103-104 on hwy 11), and if you want to explore Kohala and the south part of the island, all from one location, this will be a great place to stay."

  • An amazing experience!

"For what we were looking for, the Kona Cabin was perfect in every way. We booked this trip earlier this year and every time work got crazy, I looked at the link here on VRBO dreaming of the 12 days when we could be there. Well, the actual experience was even better than what we had envisioned. It was a morphing of all the things we love--healthy food, wildlife, dogs, cats, art and the ocean. The Kona Cabin was comfortable and we saved a ton of money, because Jeffrey and Heide provided all of the snorkeling gear and beach chairs and their kitchen was stocked with spices, utensils, coffee maker, blender, etc. They have a nice selection of DVDs and music CDs and WiFi, which was nice. It’s a semi-rustic experience and if you’re into the luxury of a hotel where they clean your room every day, this may not be a great match for you. But, if you’re looking for a great Island experience that makes you feel like you’re in the jungle, this is it! Huge avocadoes, a plethora of exotic fruits, macadamia nuts you can pick right outside your door and crack them in the kitchen; our hosts’ 3 dogs, their chickens, sheep and assorted wildlife. And if you’re a decent table tennis player, please stay with them, because we provided little competition for Jeffrey, although he’s a great teacher. Heidi is an exceptional artist and they both have incredible souls. Meeting them made the whole thing complete!"

  • Great stay

"We stayed in this studio for 3 nights. Carol's farm is just awesome, surounded by beutiful avocado, orange and banana trees. The views from the hudge terrace are fantastic. We took advantage of the bbq to grilled some vegetables and seafood. The unit is secluded and very comfortable. We think the pictures don't do the property justice as it is even better than what you can see on them. Carol is also very helpful and gives you all the information you need to explore the area as well as snorkeling gear, beach towells... The coffee is awesome!"

  • Excellent for Divers and Snorkelers!

"My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights as part of a 3-1/2 week xmas vacation. Cottage is clean and comfortable with all the kitchen basics. There is a charcoal BBQ outside which we didn’t get a chance to use. Also have a convenient outside area for rinsing and hanging dive equipment. Appreciated the seclusion and quiet - very good choice if you aren’t into the touristy scene. Hosts Garry and Susan are lovely! Enjoyed 3 dives at Honaunau Bay with Garry who was kind enough to lend me some gear as well as the advertised weights and air. Garry is a cautious and conservative diver so, as an infrequent diver, I felt very safe with him as guide. Saw tons of fish, a few turtles, heard the whales calling and was introduced to the local reef shark. This place is a terrific deal especially for scuba divers - would love to stay again. The hosts made it cosy and welcoming. Chatting with them and diving with Gary was a spectacular added bonus to the stay."
