  • Great month

"We just returned from a month at this beautiful house. It was perfect for us and our disabled daughter. The beach at the bottom was difficult for her but that is not the home owners problem. When we needed something they were there with a phone call or maintenance man. Loved sitting on the balcony watching whales and spinner Dolphins. The papayas on the tree were great and I loved looking after all the plants, inside and out. The area is quiet and very close to many activities. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We are already talking about going back. A rental care is a must!"

  • Gorgeous Sunsets Every Night

"The house was perfect for our family. Dan was very helpful and informative without ever being the least bit intrusive. With seven adults in our group, we never felt cramped, in fact with the huge den and the many outdoor lanais around the house, there was always a quiet nook for just sitting down and reading a book. Yet, plenty of family fun pool side or snorkel outings to Manini Beach, a short walk from the house. Two Steps, another local swim and diving spot, was great fun with a spectacular array of fish which were practically in our lap when going into the water. It was always nice though, coming home here for a relaxing afternoon drink by the pool and watching those beautiful sunsets."

  • Beautiful Place To Stay

"A beautiful home on a beautiful piece of property. We stayed in the Ohana guest house and it exceeded our expectations in most areas. It is very clean, private and quiet. The views from the Lanai are phenomenal. Nice hardwood floors so be sure to take your shoes off before entering,,, as the fun note on the side says. This is pretty common these days and not at all unreasonable. The market isn't real close by so be sure to plan a trip to the store. We stopped prior to arriving at the house on our fist day. We also made a Costco run the next day to stock up for the week. The house is not in the main tourist area which is why we booked it, we didn't want the noise & congestion of that part of the Island. Perfect, no but I'd go back in a minute. Beautiful home, I'd recommend it to anyone going to the Big Island. I do have to comment on a review someone else did complaining about the pool not being heated. Geeze, it's Hawaii and " nobody " heats their pools. After all it's a swimming pool not a Sauna. The " house information book " makes it clear that there is a charge for turning the hot tub on which to me is odd...but that's okay we probably wouldn't have used it anyway. There's also a charge if you want the air conditioning on. but by opening the windows ( they are screened ) and having the fans on it was never warm or uncomfortable. It was perfect. As stated they supply very nice towels and there is a washer & dryer so you need to do your own laundry, after all it's a house, not a hotel. I did find it all that we were only given one roll of paper towels and two extra rolls of toilet paper. Odd yes but not unreasonable I suppose, there's a WalMart & Target down the road. Another review or two mention that Dan wasn't necessarily the most polite person. So what if his interpersonal skills are less than you'd get at Macy's. After all it is his house and his business. He even apologized for his being curt during an email we got. He was off island during our stay so we dealt with the property manager Tammy who was very nice and professional. A good source for local information too."

  • Relaxing home for a week

"A friend and I rented the upstairs apartment to serve as home base for exploring beautiful Hawaii both below and above water. We knew it'd be farther from the dive shops in town but also a bit closer to the national park, and wow, was the beauty of the location well worth the drive. Our hosts were wonderfully accommodating of our late arrival flights and had fresh fruit and macadamia nuts in the kitchen to welcome us. Their adorable dogs would come up the stairs to say hello in the mornings. Though we were away much of the day, we loved coming back to a comfortable abode to cook dinner, watch the sunset, and reflect on the day's adventures to the songs of frogs and birds, plus the cute geckos on the lanai. The rental had everything we needed, from wi-fi and kitchen appliances to beach towels, drying racks, a cooler, and even a jacket I found in the closet that saved me from a cold boat ride one night. I will be recommending it to my friends and would definitely visit again."
