A great place to recharge
"Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful Makalani Ocean View Cottage. It was exactly what we needed. Relaxing in a beautiful setting with fresh fruit for breakfast right off the tree is how we started each day. We explored every day but was always greatful to come back for a sunset and dinner on the lani. We will be back!!"

"This was our fifth trip to the Big Island. We had previously stayed in resorts, hotels, and private properties in populated areas so we were looking for something a little different. This home is located in a smaller hillside community. The house sits in a tropical setting among tropical flora. We found it to be clean and have everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I was however disappointed as to how far the house was from Captain Cook. It may have a Captain Cook address but it is located about 10 minutes south of Hookena Beach Park. The beach that is within the community within a 10 minute walking distance it is a very nice, black pebble, private beach. I personally don't think I could of walked back up the hill in under an hour. The road within the community is very steep and zig-zags back and forth. we opted to drive down where we found was parking for two vehicles. It would be beneficial to have a 4x4 vehicle to navigate this community. Views from the lanai are beautiful. There was no lounge her to enjoy the view but there was a patio table and chairs. There are homes on either side of you here. The one was vacant the other was occupied but very quiet. Overall it is a nice home with a beautiful view in what we found to be a quiet community."

"This was our second time on the Big Island and our Ohana's first and this house was amazing.
Walking onto the deck all of us were in awe over the view. My Kids loved exploring around the property there was never a dull moment. The house alone makes you feel like you've belong there it didn't feel like we were on vacation but at home. Here is a plus the swim equipment! we used and donated to the stash its so amazing just having all of it to use and not worry about where to get the gear. My In laws used the downstairs quarters and loved it, it was just right for them.
If down in Kona and want a tattoo look up Artistic Creations and ask for Dave he is amazing! We know him Personally and are clients
Our favorite place to eat while in Kona was Big Island Grill Huge portions for a great price
The Volcano is not far and that is a must see on the island.
We had 2 spots we loved for snorkeling Great for kids and first timers too. Beach 69 there is a fee to park $5 and Two step in Honaunau Bay there is street parking or park in a lot for $5 oh can't forget Magic Sand Beach too that beach has a van with educational stuff about the reef and fish.
Once again house was amazing Michele is so sweet she emailed us to check on us a couple times. We diffidently will be staying with them again in the future.

"What a wonderful spot. You can hang out at the pool all day or do all the touristy stuff there is to do. Still can't get over the change in flora and fona in such a short distance, it was amazing. Candi was very helpful with everything from where to go to the beach to where to get band aids. Captain Cook is such a nice place, and the people were all very nice. I love the big island and am looking forward to coming back"
