As Good as it Gets!!
"What fantastic place!! We loved Kealakekua Bay, and the house was just as impressive. As a realtor, I see A LOT of houses….this house has amazing flow, easily the best of any vacation rental I’ve ever been in, and better than 99% of the houses I see on the market. The layout is just totally perfect. You land, and it all just works so well-very intuitive. Super thoughtful design. It’s simple, but simply fabulous. Especially perfect layout for groups (we were two families) in that the house layout enables private spaces, and wonderful group gathering places as well. The large Lanai is to die for-massive slider doors open from the kitchen/living area onto the lanai, so provides for truly seamless indoor outdoor living. A complete wrap-around deck allows for multiple private outdoor spaces. Truly, just a fantastic layout and utilization of space. Everything needed was just right there, we loved renting kayaks (from Rufus just around the corner, such a sweet guy) and touring the bay. Really just a very special place, perfect location, perfectly furnished, and uniquely fabulous layout and design of home that made it a PERFECT place to stay. Thank you so very much!!! No dishwasher, which is no big deal, but does mean family gathers to do dishes after a meal. I know the friend we brought is already planning a return to the Big Island and wants to stay at your place…she also thought it was marvelous, and is dying to share the Aloha House with her family…"

"If you are looking for a crowded resort that looks like every other resort you have ever been to, then Hale Hula is not for you. If you are looking for peace and quiet in an absolutely lovely cottage with every amenity, then look no further. The hosts are lovely, and the setting is idyllic. The recently constructed cottage is roomy, well stocked and beautifully designed and decorated. Coolers, beach towels, mats and chairs; snorkel fins; plush robes and slippers; an outdoor shower; wifi and movies; fruit and nut trees; and a well appointed kitchen--everything you need is here. We dined out at local restaurants, but we also cooked some delicious dinners, including macadamia nut crusted fish with freshly cracked nuts from the trees. The cottage is just a few miles from some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island and many other spots of interest. We have stayed in many rented apartments and condos in our travels, and Hale Hula was by far one of the nicest and most immaculate place we have ever stayed. If and when we return to the Big Island, Hale Hula will be our destination."

"We split our trip between the Mauna Lani Hotel and Bungalows (2 nights) and this property. The bungalows were nice, but staying in this well appointed, well kept, super clean home in Captain Cook is a way different and way better way to experience the island.
The place is immaculately maintained with super nice features. Cooking dinner on the awesome commercial range and then having family dinner on the lanai watching the sunset made our trip truly memorable. The house is comfortable (we stayed in the ohana) and with two adults and two teenagers the place gave us room to spread out - something that is hard to do sometimes in a hotel.
Dan is a super fast and effective communicator and getting checked in and settled is much less painful than what you have to deal with at a hotel.
The house is very near (definitely walkable) Kealakekua Bay so it is no big deal to run down early and swim/snorkel with spinner dolphins and really enjoy the place. A short drive away is the excellent snorkeling spot "two step" that is worth going to for sure. We rented surfboards about five minutes away in South Kona (Kona Boys - they do kayaks, snorkel gear too) so it was a super convenient way to get geared up for almost any activity without paying huge bucks.
We had an a memorable trip and hope we can return to stay here again soon!"

"We spent four glorious weeks in Jill's darling, cute, well appointed cottage that had everything we wanted. One exception was the minimal Satellite TV options. We would have preferred a full cable set up/programming. Not a huge deal. The bedrooms were lovely. There were small AC units in there to cool them before sleeping. The yard was full of a huge variety of wonderful Hawaiian fruit. It was so much fun picking our fruit from the trees as needed. There is a lovely outdoor shower that was a pleasure for both washing off sand and cooling down. Jill and James were fun and accommodating. We are swimmers and spent most days in one of the two glorious bays nearby. We swam with the Spinner dolphin many times. Each time felt like a blessing. Truly amazing! In short we loved every minute and are hard at work figuring out how to return in 2015. You will not be disappointed, but you will be spoiled. Stay at your own risk! :)"
