"My husband and I stayed at Mik'a and Lisa's home this past spring. The house is exactly as it looks in the pictures including the vase on the window. We had to rent a Jeep wrangler to navigate the spiraling steep road to the house - It was fun driving up and down the hill.
This house certainly feels like home - it was very quiet, peaceful and away from the tourists . After a day of exploring the island we looked forward to coming home and watching the sunset with a glass of wine.
We are looking forward to our next trip to the big island and this house would be our first choice."

"We spent four glorious weeks in Jill's darling, cute, well appointed cottage that had everything we wanted. One exception was the minimal Satellite TV options. We would have preferred a full cable set up/programming. Not a huge deal. The bedrooms were lovely. There were small AC units in there to cool them before sleeping. The yard was full of a huge variety of wonderful Hawaiian fruit. It was so much fun picking our fruit from the trees as needed. There is a lovely outdoor shower that was a pleasure for both washing off sand and cooling down. Jill and James were fun and accommodating. We are swimmers and spent most days in one of the two glorious bays nearby. We swam with the Spinner dolphin many times. Each time felt like a blessing. Truly amazing! In short we loved every minute and are hard at work figuring out how to return in 2015. You will not be disappointed, but you will be spoiled. Stay at your own risk! :)"

Welcoming arbor+ real Hawaiian experience+ real relaxation= immersion in a true Hawaiian vacation
"I've been to Hawaii before. Staying in the insulated boxes of the Sheraton/big box hotels and having a very tourist type experience that was bland and fake feeling.
But staying at a home, with all the things I needed, right in the middle of the local scene was a real Hawaiian vacation. I felt more connected with my vacation and relaxed far more than in any hotel. This home is close enough to run into town and do shopping and be a tourist or better yet.... follow the locals every morning as they walk past your porch to swim with dolphins at the Captain Cook Cove (Kealalekua Bay) and local park.
I loved being among the locals; feeling connected to the land and sea and felt less like a tourist in this home and more at home and at ease. It was wonderful..it is the only way I will vacation from now on and it was very hard to leave!!
The home has all you need, just grab food. It has plenty of room for all and the view was wonderful and special. My 16 yr old spent his time on the top floor observation deck and that is the best place to take a nap!! The sunsets up top were amazing, BBQ in the sweet shady backyard and then have dinner with the sun and sea at your fingertips from the top deck.
Stroll across the street and snorkel your heart out, walk home and enjoy the huge double shower to get the sand off and at your fingertips are the washer and dryer and sink to keep your suits clean and sand free. I found this to be so much nicer than having to worry about washing things off in a hotel room.
This is a very special home to vacation in and the location was wonderful.
Ill be going back as soon as I can."

"The house and views are better than the posted photos. Its very spacious, comfortable and relaxing. We liked being outside of Kona and thought it was easy to do our 4 days of activities on the Kona side before driving to Volcano NP. We really enjoyed starting and ending our days with meals and the views from the front lanai. You are close to a good grocery store in Captain Cook and you can find anything that you might want nearby.
Having rented many places on VRBO and other sites our decisions to rent way heavily on the comments about the owners as well and Mike and Mimi were absolutely great. I forgot the contact information, address and had to call them in a panic after midnight on a Monday morning. She was very gracious and waited up to confirm that we were able to get in. We highly recommend the 180 Ocean View."
