Loved our vacation in the Blue Roof house
"We just returned from a vacation at the Blue Roof house and had a wonderful time. The location is remote and private, the home is beautifully appointed, and the view can't be beat. We enjoyed cooking in the large well appointed kitchen and dining with our friends in the spacious dining room. We especially enjoyed having coffee each morning overlooking the ocean and cocktails each evening while enjoying stunning sunsets. It was a great place to enjoy with our friends as each room is equipped with a queen or king sized bed so no couple had to "slum it" in twin beds. We'd definitely recommend it!"

"Just returned from our 5-night stay at the Plantation Home. I've rented many places through VRBO and this is the first time I've written a review.
The location was perfect - close enough to Kona for some dinners out but far enough away for quiet and relaxation (after an hour out on the lanai with the cool ocean breeze we totally blocked out the mooing of the cows next door). It was also a great location for heading to the volcanoes, bypassing the Kona traffic. There were four of us staying at the home and we all loved it. It was comfortable for 4 adults - 2 bedroom suites on opposite sides of the house and plenty of space without feeling like we overdid it. Not that we needed all of the space on the inside since we spent most of our time on the lanai or in the pool. The views were fantastic and the owners were very helpful.
In case you are wondering, it took us about 20ish minutes to get to Kona (30-45ish minutes to the airport depending on traffic, about an hour and a half to the volcanoes. Greenwell Farms coffee is just down the street, as is Da Poke Shack, both great stops (though if you are hitting up Kona, you have to check out Umeke's - DELICIOUS!). Kealakekua Bay was also super close, but we didn't go down there. We were too busy napping on the lanai. When talking about whether we'd come back to the Big Island (all of us were visiting for the first time) we all responded that we'd come back and book the Plantation Home again. The pictures just don't do this place justice."

"I can't imagine that you would ever find a better rental at this price. A short walk to the bay, short drive to Two Steps. A great location to explore this part of the island. I know for certain that you won't find a more accommodating, kind, generous host than Kay at any price!! Your cookies are incredible. The thanks so much for letting us stay."

"This lovely cottage-like home was perfect place for our family of five to spend a week. We felt at home as soon as we entered and, while the house had every conceivable convenience and thoughtful detail, it was still homey and comfortable. We ate all our meals and spent much lounging time outdoors in the large front lanai or spacious back yard. The kitchen was very well equipped, including a coffee grinder and mixer. We also were able to use the snorkel gear and boogie board that are available. Bird song and gentle surf are the music you hear as the occasional mongoose scampers through the yard. Each morning and evening we took our coffee or cocktails the 3 minute walk to watch spinner dolphins in the Bay. You can swim there or walk 5 min or so to gentle Manini Beach.
The drive to Captain Cook for groceries and other services is about 20-30 minutes and it is a short drive to the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge) and spectacular snorkeling at "Two Step" and to the beach at Ho'okena."
