  • Beautiful retreat with unique hospitality

"We spend part of our vacation on Big Island at Davia and Augusts place. Arriving, we found ourselves surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. This garden must be explored as it is so rich and a real composition! There is something to discover at every corner e.g. nice sculptures, a seating area. The room and the outdoor kitchen are comfortable, cozy and spotless clean. Very impressive is the view from the private lanai: the ocean in front of you. It is the perfect location to watch the sunset or just relax and enjoy the surrounding. The hospitality we experienced was really exceptional and we felt warmly welcome. August made great suggestions on where to go. We found everything needed for a great day at the beach: beach chairs and towels as well as snorkeling gear. There are several beaches close by where snorkeling is possible. Highly recommended! We would love to come back some day."

  • Hillside Paradise

"Our family of nine, two generations, had a wonderful experience for our first visit to Hawaii; this home was the icing on the cake! We spent time exploring/snorkeling/shopping during many of the ten days. But the quiet time just walking the five acres of orchards, eating meals outside with the glorious sunsets and swimming in the wonderful pool was probably the best part. We could have just stayed there at the beautiful home and not done the sightseeing things - it was a sweet private resort all its own! We enjoyed the delicious avocados and other fruit we could pick daily. The house is set up so that the two grandkids roomed with their parents in the upper Master and had their privacy for naps, etc. The other rooms were perfect for the older kids; the extra Master BR/Bath was nice for my wife and I. We hope to book Pu'u Mahana annually for our family and will be recommending it to all of our friends as well."

  • Ein Traumhaus - just awesome

And now a short summary of my review in english: + the space, enough room for the 5 of us + all the things you need are there, kitchen stuff, barbecue, snorkel gear, towels and beach chairs and and and, everything in excellent condition. + everything clean + the awesome sorrounding in Kona Paradise, a unique beach quite near, we love the Shaved Ice at the Kealiio Ranch - a little problem with cockroaches and mosquitos, but that seemed to be a problem for the whole island"

  • QUIET RETREAT

"This was our fifth trip to the Big Island. We had previously stayed in resorts, hotels, and private properties in populated areas so we were looking for something a little different. This home is located in a smaller hillside community. The house sits in a tropical setting among tropical flora. We found it to be clean and have everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I was however disappointed as to how far the house was from Captain Cook. It may have a Captain Cook address but it is located about 10 minutes south of Hookena Beach Park. The beach that is within the community within a 10 minute walking distance it is a very nice, black pebble, private beach. I personally don't think I could of walked back up the hill in under an hour. The road within the community is very steep and zig-zags back and forth. we opted to drive down where we found was parking for two vehicles. It would be beneficial to have a 4x4 vehicle to navigate this community. Views from the lanai are beautiful. There was no lounge her to enjoy the view but there was a patio table and chairs. There are homes on either side of you here. The one was vacant the other was occupied but very quiet. Overall it is a nice home with a beautiful view in what we found to be a quiet community."
