It was a great place to stay.
"This was a last minute booking for us, and host was very helpful. Cottage was very clean, and really well decorated. Bed was comfortable, and great location to start our trips. Great place for a couple!"

"The Hale Lana studio provided everything we could want: a peaceful and very comfortable space, indoor/outdoor living, ample cooking equipment, extra towels, washer, clothesline, beach chairs, boogie board, directions to local sites, and a fabulous outdoor shower! Easy walks to nearby beaches. The snorkeling at Captain Cook Monument and Two Step is spectacular. Look at the spinner dolphins in the bay, but please don't touch."

"We had seen the pictures on vrbo.com, but our group of 6 adults (ages 18-60) was blown away by the house, the grounds, and the view! During our two-week stay, we spent many hours on the lanai soaking in the view and it is gorgeous! Everything about our stay at Maka Nui was exceptional, and that was in large part because of our very gracious and hospitable caretaker, Candi. She anticipated our every need before we could think of it. The welcome basket and flowers from the grounds were such a nice touch! The house is beautiful, well designed, and is very spacious. Our group likes to cook and we were pleased to find the kitchen well stocked. We enjoyed snorkeling at Manini Beach Park, and Two Step which are both a short distance from the house. We had good food at the Poke Shack, Patz Pies, the Coffee Shack, and Teshimas - we actually hit all of these places twice! One of the highlights of our trip was helping Candi to harvest the coffee beans, and the best part was spending time with this dear lady. We will definitely be back, but just can't get back fast enough!"

Twist my arm... I want to keep this hide-away for myself!
"We would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to have spent a week at Maka Nui, an absolutely beautiful, private haven in paradise. The photos and description of said property, found on the VRBO website, were spot-on, but, this impressively decorated, comfortable home, offered so much more in person and we felt beyond "spoiled" (a word said often when speaking of this property) by all the amenities - both inside and outside, it provided.
The estate and surrounding property is very well-managed and maintained by Candi and her staff. We found her to be genuinely welcoming, never intrusive and always supportive to our needs. We will wholeheartedly recommend this lovely home to our family, to friends, and to whomever will listen!
Although our vacation has ended, we are already longing to return to the serene foothills of Mauna Loa and the vacation home that is Maka Nui.
