"We loved this little house in Kona coffee country! It was quiet and comfortable with easy access to the Kona sites. Our host and hostess were friendly and helpful, and even dog Sam was welcoming. It was fun to wake up to a horse nibbling grass right next to the front porch. The evenings were cool and days warm, and what's not to like about this lovely place? It's closer to the size of a hotel room, but with the charm of a home. We would definitely come back. We found sea turtles on a lovely walk on a beach 20 miles north."

  • Unbelievable beauty and amenities

"From the moment you drive down the private road, after following the perfect driving directions, you know you are going somewhere special. The view cannot be described and pictures do it no justice. This is the 4th year in a row we have stayed in Holualoa, and this is by far the best view, location, everything we have ever experienced. In fact, it's the best VRBO experience we have had period. The outdoor kitchen lets you feel like you are really experiencing something out of the ordinary, and the lack of any bugs was amazing (may be the time of year?). Hotel quality bedding, nicest bathroom have ever seen and a fantastic mix of useful furniture, audio/video and kitchen utensils covers every need. For example, the microwave is a GE Profile, not some cheapo brand, and even acts as a convection oven! Albert was very hospitable and even made an effort to come see us to make sure everything was ok and gave us a mini coffee farm tour. We plan on coming back to Hawaii for a few more years and know exactly where we will be staying!"

  • Our Perfect Vacation

"I just wanted you to know how perfect Hale Kawika was. It was everything and more! We DID make guacamole every day. It was hard to leave the house but we managed to go snorkeling and kayaking as well as attend my daughter's wedding. We definitely didn't want it to end and we will be back. We dream of staying at Hale Kawika again in the future. Thanks for everything. Karen Hartling PS: Herb, Lisa and Jennifer were wonderful too!"

  • Quaint Rustic Experience

"What a wonderful different experience by staying in a cottage vs. a condo or hotel room. It was really a neat stay and very much as the others have described. Beautiful view looking past the house and down to the town and ocean. We loved the architecture design and the wood and stone used. Loved all the plants surrounding the cottage and enjoyed the fruits as well. The avocados were the best we have EVER had!! We do a lot of cooking and for the most part the kitchen was well stocked. A few things missing would be an ice maker. Since there is no freezer we could not make or store ice. It would be great to have an automatic one put in. Also, I wish there was a dishwasher. Washing by hand just doesn't cut it (but that's my pet-peave). The temperature in the higher elevation is very cool so you really don't need a/c, however, it is also very damp and at the time we were there it rained quite a bit. Its nice to hear the rain on the roof but be prepared that towels and clothes will be damp. As a previous person stated, you will hear chickens/roosters crowing which quite frankly is part of the charm of the coffee farm. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you because you will hear your neighbors and the goldens and the roosters. Its just part of the whole experience. Its just a completely different experience and feel. I'm so glad we did it."
