So close and yet far enough!
"The view - spectacular! You are short drive from everything, but look down from the spectacular 2,000-foot ocean view from the cottage window and the hustle and bustle looks 100 miles away. I highly recommend for those who want serenity on their vacation. Sam, the dog treats you like an old friend the minute he meets you. The horses are friendly too. Can't say enough good things about our hosts. I would definitely come back again."

"My husband and I stayed here for a few months and absolutely loved it. The view is spectacular and the surrounding property is beautiful. It is a short drive to town and to some of the best snorkeling spots.
Since we were there for a few months we were able to enjoy several types of fruit that grows on the adjoining property - rambutan, tangerines, star fruit, loquat, passion fruit, papaya and lots of oranges. Each type of fruit ripens at a different time, so what is available will depend on the time of year. Although citrus seems to be year round. The neighboring coffee farm (UCC) allows you to pick their fruit as long as you leave their coffee cherries alone.
The home comes with everything you need from the kitchen supplies to beach supplies. The hot water never ran out - which is essential for four people showering following the manta ray night dive!"

"Our stay started with detailed driving directions from the airport and it got better from there. It is impossible to describe the view as you walk down the hill to the lower unit of the building and then you realize the view is the same from the sliding doors in the bedroom and the outdoor kitchen. During the day we explored the island but choose to come back for a peaceful dinner overlooking the city rather than eating out. The unit itself is modern and well equipped. It has a large bath and bedroom as well as a comfortable living room with a wet bar. If it is important to you there is a large HD tv in the living room. My only suggestion would be to have a pair of binoculars available. This was our first visit to the island and if we come back this will be our place to stay."

"Hale Kawika was the perfect home for us on our week's stay on the big island. We had a family of 8 - including grandparents, aunt, uncle, and our 6 month old baby. The property is amazing and we found ourselves sitting on the lanai all day and enjoying the sunrises and sunsets, all the while sipping fresh squeezed lemonade from the juiciest lemon trees found on the grounds. The photos posted are nice, but they don't do this place justice as it's simply an amazing place! We arrived a bit early, and also needed a late checkout due to our flight and the managers were more than accommodating - thank you so much!
- Gorgeous views every day. Huge Lanai to enjoy it.
- Peaceful and quiet.
- Very clean and everything's in great/new condition.
- Huge kitchen that's well stocked.
- Master and en suite are huge and amazing.
- All the amenities you could need: they had a crib, booster seat, and toys for our baby. Also have pool toys and extra beach gear (umbrella, snorkle gear, etc.)
- Fresh fruits around the property - we had fresh Avocados, Passion Fruit, and Lemons everyday. Also found some Papaya and breadfruit!
- Heat pool and hot tub (we used it every day!)
- Wonderful staff, Lisa and Herb were super responsive.
- Short drive to town, not too far away from all the action and shopping.
- Great Coffee roasters just down the road.
Cons (not that there really any!):
- A bit difficult to find the first time, especially at night! (Make sure you have a GPS!)
- Rooster doesn't understand the concept of a sleeping baby
We will definitely be coming back for our second vacation!!!"
