  • Very family friendly

"The house is in a beautiful location with amazing views of the ocean. It worked perfectly for our large family vacation. The house is safe for young kids and includes toys and a yard for running around. It was a great jumping off point for exploring the Kona side of the island. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return sometime in the future."

  • Tropical Hideaway

"We just returned from a lovely stay at the Tropical Hideaway. This was a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of the Kona Coast. Kathy ,the owner ,has thoughtfully provided many extras to enhance your stay. The bed was very comfortable and the hot tub was a great way to relax after diving or touring all day. Even when it rained you could enjoy outdoor dining on the cover, patio. I also got very used to the out door shower . It was very nice to have basic condiment and some supplies like sunscreen and band aides in case you forgot or just ran out. Kathy is very pleasant and has an insiders knowledge of the best places to see, eat or buy coffee. I really enjoyed the pool after diving or sightseeing as it was refreshingly cool at 70 degrees. The place is just minutes away from the City of Refuge Park , the Painted Church, and the glorious two steps beach. We went snorkeling every morning we we not diving. You can get in a beautiful snorkel and return to the Hideaway to enjoy a breakfast of mango, papaya and bananas provided free from Kathy's yard. The washer and dryer were very confident and really reduces the amount of clothes you need to bring.we loved this place so. Much we are recommending it to our daughters and all our friends."

  • What an amazing place to stay!

"We just finished a weeks stay at this beautiful quiet and clean house located up a private road along the kona coast. This house was absolutely beautiful, the views and peace and quiet up there were amazing. The owner of the house and his son were really nice and helpful. You cant beat the price and the location is excellent, everything you need or would like to try out is conveniently located just a short drive away. The house itself is located on a very nicely manicured yard and the inside is very spacious. My girlfriend and I stayed in the master bedroom which has a gorgeous view of the bay and our friend stayed in the second bedroom which was also very comfortable. Highly suggest this place for your next stay."

  • Heaven on Earth

"My husband and I stayed 11 nights in the Jungle Cottage early February 2014. All that really needs to be said is: it is a little piece of paradise! We stayed in a couple of other hotel/B&B as well during our stay on the Big Island, and none of them, nor other places we looked into staying at, remotely compared to the accommodation at Bwana Bob. The cottages there are surrounded by lush vegetation and have a beautiful ocean view; it is extremely peaceful and one feels far away from civilization and lost in the jungle yet Kona is just a few miles away. "Our" Jungle Cottage was so cozy and so romantic, very clean - there could not have been a more perfect place to spend our honeymoon! Upon check-in, I was amazed to find absolutely everything we needed: a kitchen stocked with all the essentials, soaps and shampoos, bath and beach towels, beach mats, folding chairs, snorkeling gear, ice cooler, and yes, even an umbrella! Not to mention a pound of the delicious Bwana Bob coffee, and fresh fruit including the sweetest pineapple! In the cottage there is also a TV, DVDs, videos, magazines, guides, maps - and the list goes on. The highlight of my stay at the Jungle Cottage was being able to pick fruit from the fruit trees in the garden: nothing like starting your day with juice from freshly picked oranges or juicy mangoes and fleshy bananas! Our hosts were absolutely wonderful! They are so friendly and bent over backwards to make our stay as fantastic as possible. We witnessed the coffee roasting process. Well, you haven't lived until you have seen Steve's Roast O Rama and the place where he does it! Fascinating! I could have spent hours in his workshop studying all the machines and robots and gadgets and tackle and apparatuses and equipment! Something to tell your grandchildren about, lol! That coffee roasting process if a must-see, so is Bwana Bob's accommodation! I highly recommend it to anyone spending any time at all on the Big Island! And should I go back to Hawaii, this is definitely where I will want to stay! Thank you Susan and Steve, for sharing your paradise with us!"
