"We absolutely loved our stay at Bamboo House for so many reasons. We have stayed in a number of VRBOs over the years and this was by far the finest. This is a well thought out custom home with designer touches in every room, from the turtle mosaic entry, to the koa wood floors and kitchen cabinetry, to the bamboo woodwork and glass etching in almost every room, to....I could go on and on (beam ceilings, windows that frame the ocean and garden views, outstanding landscaping, the shower room for two, mosaic of fish and dolphins in the pool to name a few.) There is artistry in the design of this home that is hard to find. The way the house is situated on the lot takes advantage of views and privacy at the same time. The tropical furnishings were lovely as well. This home has everything anyone would need to enjoy a few days, or a few months in paradise. We celebrated our 5th anniversary here and had the house to ourselves. This home would be ideal for two couples as well, as the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house. This was our first visit to Kona, and we found the location to be ideal - very close to town yet felt far removed. One of the best snorkeling beaches in Hawaii is 5 minutes away. We used the guidebook provided by the owners to find the best beaches and it saved us a lot of time. The neighborhood is gated and it is wonderful for morning and evening strolls with views all around. The home was immaculate, well stocked, and there was nothing lacking. Thank you Gerry and Mary Lou. Great effort was put into designing this home, and the same effort has been extended to make sure your guests have everything they need. There should be a 6 star rating for this home - outstanding!"Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 1, 2014View listing

"We spent 9 days at this condo and found it to be a great location. We were close to a snorkeling site - 3 miles away. The condo is reasonably priced for the amenities - is small but has everything we needed, including beach chairs, noodles, cooler, plenty of beach towels. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly to our questions, gave us advice on snorkeling, grocery stores, farmer's market, the cheapest gas available, etc. The condo complex is pretty close quarters, with lots of condos in a small area so there can be noise issues if you happen to have loud neighbors. The few times we were in the condo during the day we could hear neighbors talking but at night it was quiet. The location is far enough out of the downtown area of Kailua to be very quiet in the evening and morning. It is also far enough off the road so you can't hear traffic noise. I highly recommend this property if you are interested in a comfortable place to stay, but plan to spend most of your time out doing activities."Guest: Chris Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 26, 2014View listing
"Where to start as everything about this condo was perfect..... Beautifully decorated, they have a lot of cute Hawaiian finishes, good sized bedrooms for 4 adults which included air con (we needed this during our stay it was really hot & humid), the patio furniture was extremely comfortable, the kitchen well equipped & although we didn't use them they had a good selection of beach equipment. Everything was in good working order and seemed to be fairly new. One of the things that impressed me the most was the cleanliness of this unit. I work for a hotel and have extremely high standards, one of the most reoccurring notes our guests mention is the house keeping services.... This condo was spotless as where the complex grounds, we used the pool one evening while it was raining and had so much fun. Generally there seemed to be plenty of opportunities to have the pool area to yourself. Loved the undercover parking & it's location, location, location! For exploring the volcanoes I personally feel this condo is a little too far, my recommendation would be to base yourself here and maybe stay 3/4 nights over the Hilo side for volcano activities, but for exploring the entire west side and all the way north and south you won't find a better place to stay. Literally on the outskirts of the town it's no more then a 5 minute walk to beaches, shops & restaurants, the actual complex itself is peaceful best of both worlds! Let's not forget the close & easy proximity to the international airport. My husband & I are in love with the big island and are already thinking of our return. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this condo again the only thing that may hold us back is that we would be traveling as a party of 2 as opposed to 4, but we would definitely try & stay in this same complex reaching out to the owners of this unit before looking elsewhere. We didn't have much communication with Tammy as it wasn't necessary but what communication we did have was extremely pleasant & efficient. If your reading this don't look any further this unit will not disappoint."Guest: Amy Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 6, 2014View listing
