"We spent a wonderful 5 weeks in Ann's condo. It's in a great complex, with a great ocean view and a heavenly warm pool. Ann provides everything you would need, including a huge walk-in closet with tons of hangers, and tons of beach and bath towels! In all the VRBO's in which we've stayed, I felt most at home in this one."

"We loved spending breakfast and sunsets on the lanai. Great view and an easy to access location close to town. As this unit has both the living room and Master bedroom along the front, the lanai is double wide and very spacious. The condo was clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything you could need for the kitchen as well as beach chairs, beach umbrella, beach towels, coolers and boogie boards. It seems that there is nothing more that we could want, except more time there. The complex was quiet and nicely landscaped, with a great pool and barbeque area. Again, the lanai view is wonderful and even closer to the water than I might have expected from the pictures. This unit met all of our needs and expectations and we would love to stay there again!"

"We have been traveling to Kona periodically for over twenty years. In August, 2014 we stayed at the Kona Makai complex for the very first time, in this unit. The Kona Makai is now our new favorite place to stay. The location of the unit in the complex is great. We enjoyed the ocean view and sounds from the lanai day and night.
The unit was very clean, well equipped, and nicely updated. It is very well supplied with beach towels, high quality beach chairs, and umbrellas. There were also boogie boards.
The complex as a whole is very nice. The neatly manicured tropical landscaping make the grounds beautiful. The pool is quiet with very nice lounge chairs and large umbrellas. There are also some lounge chairs along the ocean for enjoying ocean sounds, views, beautiful sunsets, and meeting other guests.
The owners were prompt and thorough with every question we had. They also have a binder in the unit with information about beaches, restaurants, activities, and other information about the island. There was a current copy of "Hawaii, the Big Island Revealed." With this book and the owners binder, even repeat Big Island visitors will find some new things to do.
We highly recommend this unit!"

"Our family spent a fantastic week in Kona with this condo as our home base and enjoyed diving (do the manta ray night dive if you can) and snorkeling and the beach. The condo was immaculate and well appointed, and most of the open floor plan has an unobstructed view of the ocean. Gene and Charlie were clearly very committed to providing a superior guest experience, and they responded quickly when we noted a minor maintenance issue.
The condo is just over a mile from downtown Kona. There is a reserved parking spot, and having a car is recommended but would not be necessary.
As others have stated, the condo has virtually everything you will need for your visit, including two coolers, binoculars, board games, sunscreen, a full set of dishes and silverware, and seasonings and condiments - I recommend you check in first and then go to Costco or Walmart or Safeway or a local store to stock up with what you need for the week. The high efficiency washer and dryer (with detergent) was nice, too.
Our family, including two teenagers, all really enjoyed the cono and fit comfortably in it. The ocean is so close that I had to shut the bedroom slider at night to keep the waves from waking me. There is no air conditioning, which took some getting used to, but a breeze and muliple ceiling fans kept the place comfortable. You can't help but feel relaxed waking up with coffee or juice on the balcony each morning and watching the sun set over the Pacific each night.
We wholeheartedly endorse this condo, and found it to be a great value for everything you get."
