"I chose Hale Malihini as the perfect home to spend a family vacation in based on the location and pictures provided on VRBO. I was not disappointed. From the moment I showed an interest in securing the house for our family of 9, Ben was in contact with me and assured me of what to expect from a personal description of the home, to the area it was located in, and the finances. We were delighted to be so near White Sands Beach, as it became the first destination each morning for our one year old grandson, as well as the two teen grandchildren who loved to snorkel. We enjoyed exploring the entire island by day and were able to be back home in time for supper and the sunset. All of our rooms were comfortable and well appointed. We were especially grateful for the assortment of beach equipment including chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and water toys. We could not have survived our beach visits without them. We were able to take in the markets, coffee shops, and luau in town with just a 10 minute drive down Alii Drive. Our host was available and helpful from start to finish. Thank-you for a wonderful 3 week stay in your beautiful home, Jan and Ben. Mahalo."

"We stayed here for several days in November and it was a great choice for us and our baby. You get a living room, kitchen with counter, patio with table, small bedroom, bathroom with tub, and tiny laundry machines. The kitchen was equipped with basics like a pot, dishes, etc. There is a wall A/C unit in the living room; we mostly left it off. Also a TV and disc player. Linens and beach towels were also provided. It was clean and comfortable. There was a small community pool, typically empty, and a couple of grills near it.
If you have a young child, we found it fairly easy to baby proof the living room by moving a few items. We rented a PacknPlay (the baby slept in it in the living room) and used it as a 'gate' to close off the hallway to the rest of the house.
The location is great, you can walk to the restaurants and shops downtown easily, and there is a grocery store and Target nearby. (No paper or plastic bags, bring your own or buy them at the store.)
The owner provided an extensive list of suggested activities, beaches and restaurants. She was also able to suggest where we rented the baby gear too.
If we return to Big Island I would definitely consider staying here again."

"This spacious condo is literally a few yards from the ocean! INCREDIBLE VIEWS from the very large, very private lanai are a daily occurrence. Plus, it is a corner unit--giving one an additional view to the north of a charming old stone church surrounded by coconut palms. Just lovely! It is well stocked--plenty of towels & everything you could possibly need in a kitchen. The complex, Kona Bali Kai, looks to be about 30 years old and is beautifully maintained. GREAT location, too! After extensively searching the Internet for an affordable oceanfront experience I was frustrated UNTIL I found this listing. It is exactly as advertised. ABSOLUTELY a 5 STAR VALUE!!"

"Everything was wonderful and the condo was clean and lovely (I know guys don't use the word lovely). I was impressed by the little things. We rent a lot of places through VRBO (and have had good experiences) but I must say that little things make a difference. The little touches in the decor took this place up a notch. Other things that made the stay comfortable are little things like paper towels, hand soap, fresh bars of soap, shampoo, a call from the owner when we arrived (although she didn't reach us) just to make sure that everything was perfect. She did reach us before the stay was over. Both TVs had Google Chromecast. Both TV's were nice flat screen TVs. We played so hard we were too tired to watch any TV but my son tells me that they had some videos that I would have enjoyed. The beds were comfortable. There was a nice little surprised waiting for us on the dining table when we arrived. I won't ruin the surprise for you but I hope they can continue. They even have guide books available for their guests. The kitchen was well stocked. We never had to wash dishes because there were enough dishes to fill the dishwasher and run it once before we left. The location of the unit was perfect for the pool access and it was right next to the quiet elevator. The parking was covered and reserved. The views of the beach were pleasant from the front door and the lanai. I was even able to see the beach from the kitchen sink with a little effort. The unit was clean and the complex was clean and quiet. Even the doors to the dumpsters were nicely done, stained in dark hardwood. I kid you not. The beach across the street is nice. Big waves (which I like) early in the morning and moderate waves (which others like) for the rest of the day. One snorkeler said they saw a turtle. I didn't see it but I have snorkeled on the beach before in previous visits to the area. It is not the greatest snorkeling like the beaches just down the road but it has real sand and white sand unlike most the other beaches in the area and is nice for every other activity. My son is out sitting on the beach right now watching the sunset with his fiance. OK. I'm done. My wife usually writes the reviews but I wanted to write this one because I was so impressed. Lastly, I must say that I am not connected to the owners in any way. I legitimately found this place through VRBO just like you are. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in any condo that these nice people own."
