Hale Honu Kailua-Kona
"You cannot beat Hale Honu's location and amenities. The upstairs is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. We didn't want for anything. The hosts also provide access to their beach chairs, coolers, boogie boards and snorkel gear. Whatever you need for the beach, they have it. The house and grounds were very clean and well decorated. We loved having coffee on the lanai and watching the turtles and fish just below. We snorkeled easily from the beach next door to in front of the house to check out the sea life we enjoyed watching during morning coffee. Magic Sands beach is a 3 min walk and great for boogie boarding and body surfing. Lots of great food and shopping a short drive away. You can't beat the location for the price and its amenities. We would go back without hesitation. Darla and Peter were great hosts throughout our stay and made everything very easy."

"We recently stayed in Kona for the IM, and found the location of this home fantastic as if was not too far to drive into town, but far enough away for a peaceful, relaxing stay!
Our family of 8 (with our 2 older children often visiting for meals) had plenty of space when we were home, many options for quiet spaces or meals, and of course we loved the pool, and watching sunset every night was just beautiful.
The house is exactly as offered from the pictures, and the master bedroom (with renovated bathroom) is fantastic. We cooked many meals in the kitchen, and grilled downstairs often during our 10 day stay, and appreciated that many of the basic kitchen condiments were kept in the pantry!
There was also a day home where the younger kids found the games and jigsaw cupboard, and had a great time, and the pool toys were available (to which we added a few more before we left!!)
I would love to stay there again, especially during a quieter time in Kona, and would have no hesitation in recommending the property."

"Our vacation to Kona was one of the best ever in part to our stay at Nohealani. The house is located at the perfect elevation and location-a quiet neighborhood, beautiful 180 ocean and sunset views every night. Designed like a hotel where all the bedrooms open to the pool lanai and view, we could have our own privacy, and come together in the large kitchen and living room. The house was very clean and shows recent upgrades everywhere. The hot tub is another great feature and sits in a secluded back yard. The owner thought of everything to make our vacation worry free! This was definitely a five star house for our family on a budget. Thanks Tina!"

"We spent eight nights at Sandra and Ken’s Great Kona Escape, and it was great! The property is absolutely beautiful and the apartment itself is spacious and comfortably furnished. The location (on the side of a mountain) provides great views and is central to most things you will want to see while on the Big Island.
Sandra and Ken are very nice people. They shared fresh papaya from their garden with us and really seemed to care that we had a good time (unlike the owners of another property we stayed at on Oahu who seemed to be in it just for the money). Also Sandra is a great massage therapist. The cost of the stay was equivalent to about $150 per night. You can't get a decent hotel room in Hawaii for that! And this was a big three-room apartment.
The only glitch is that the apartment is not air-conditioned, and we had thought it would be (the only reason why this isn’t a five-star review). This turned out to be a problem caused by the HomeAway system. If the owner of a property types anything in regarding air conditioning, the words “Air Conditioning” show up under amenities with three little dots after them. Only if you run your mouse over the little dots do you see what they wrote. In Sandra’s case she had written that trade winds and ceiling fans keep the place comfortable. This is true and we ended up not minding the lack of air conditioning all that much. But someone with respiratory issues who really needed AC would have a real problem.
I took a quick look at other properties on the HomeAway site for the Big Island and discovered others that said “Air Conditioning...” but what was behind the ... were the words “No air conditioning.” HomeAway really needs to change this as not everyone will think to mouse over the three little dots. They and/or some of their owners could end up being accused of false advertising!"
