"We were very pleasantly surprised when we entered the condo. Looks like new carpeting and the layout was inviting and relaxing. We opened everything up to let the ocean breezes come in to the unit and it cooled off almost immediately. They do have fans throughout the unit to help you stay cool in the bathroom and at night. We left the lanai doors open all the time we were in the unit because we loved the sound of the ocean and the breeze. The unit had everything for cooking (BBQ downstairs) and better, yet, everything to take to the beaches for your enjoyment.
We arrived late afternoon after going to Costco and decided we would get food from Da Poke Shack on the complex and enjoy it from our lanai. The food at da Schack is great. Then we walked along the rocks and the ocean. There are a lot of fun tide pools adjacent to the complex, and bits of sad here and there. The locals were surfing just to the north of the building and it was fun to watch. Kailua is really close by so shopping is easy, and it is still far enough away that you feel separated from the hustle and bustle.
We had a couple of hiccups (wrong combo to the lock but called Lisa and easily solved) and the parking space that is listed on the VRBO for the unit isn't actually assigned to anyone--you can park anywhere that is not reserved. Don't forget to check in at the front desk when you arrive, we didn't realize we were supposed to for a couple of days, but no big deal.
Beach recommendations include Hapuna for surf and sun, and the City of Refuge for snorkeling...neither can be beat. Also, a HUGE thumbs up to night snorkeling with the giant manta's. It was fantastic. We used Hang Loose boat tours, and couldn't have had a better experience! (I have SCBUA'd all over the world and dealt with many organizations, and this was one of the best!).
We had great main Tai's at the Kona Inn and Jackie Rey's--great food at both and a lot of locals. One more recommendation is the Fish Bowl (AKA Sundried Products) if you go North to the Coffee plantations or snorkeling at the City of Refuge.
All in all, the unit is in an incredible location, and the sunsets every night were amongst the best we have seen anywhere in the world! When we come back, we will definitely stay here again..."

"Came to Kona Bali Kai for birthday celebration & mini vacation from living and working on Kauai. All was great, condo and location. Away from town but not too far away. Hope it is available when we want to come back."

"This is a great place for a couple to stay. The beach was close. A good part about the location is it is close to all the shopping areas. This was nice. We stayed during the King Kamehameha Day. The parade was down In the Kailua Village which is down the street. This was a nice trip and we appreciated the beauty of the island. One thing would have made it better, having an air conditioner in the bedroom. But everything was great with this home. Would love to stay here again."

"We planned this family vacation for 3 years and it was 100% worth the wait! Janice was extremely helpful in the planning process and always responsive to any questions we had. The condo was amazing!! The view every morning when waking up is priceless. You couldn't have been any closer to the water. I think most of our pictures came from just sitting out on the lanai at sunset because the view is breathtaking! We loved getting up every morning and watching the surfers and bodyboarders. The condo is clean, nicely decorated, and fully furnished. We were thrilled when we first walked in and saw the huge shelving unit stocked with every beach supply imaginable (flippers, snorkeling gear, towels, chairs, fishing supplies, coolers, etc.) We didn't have to pick up or rent one item during this two week vacation, because the condo has it all! I was even able to do laundry everyday and avoid the hassle of coming back to a huge stack of laundry at the end of our trip. We would highly recommend this condo to anyone planning a vacation to Kona!"
