  • Great property ! Wonderful Property Manager.

"We spent 11 days at Hale Lani to celebrate our 40th Anniversary with our kids and grandchildren. The grounds are breathtaking ! We spent most of our vacation in the tropical manicured backyard enjoying the beautiful pool. The Sandy bottomed paddling pool was perfect for the 3 little ones ! The swim up bar was a fun added feature ! We thank you Richard for helping us out during our stay. We all appreciated your thoughtfulness. You went above and beyond ! You won't be disappointed if you stay at this amazing property ! We hope to be back again someday !"

  • Quiet and perfect location.

"March 16 to April 1 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, this was our first time staying in Kona at a slightly higher elevation as we have always been down at the Alii Drive level area, and after being up here, it’s the only place we will stay if we make it back to the Big Island again. The cool evening breeze was a welcome relief after a hot day of activities, and the sunsets from the pool or outdoor shower made it all the better. Add to that fresh fruits from the garden and well its someplace you won’t want to leave."

  • Best choice

"This home was comfortable, beautiful, spacious, convenient, and reasonably priced with a priceless view of the ocean. For our kids, the sleeping nooks in the loft added a sense of adventure and the pool was the highlight of their trip. The prior reviews are on target on the details so we will just add that although the home is correctly listed as “not wheelchair accessible,” Grandma managed fine. There are no steps into the home from the carport and the kitchen, dining room, bedrooms and bathrooms are all on the main floor. The living room is sunken (2 steps) but we would lift her wheelchair down so Grandma could sit there or on the deck outside. Mahalo to the owners for sharing Hale Wailele. From the lei greeting on arrival to the late checkout because of a flight change and everything else in between, this home was definitely the right choice for us and we have already recommended it to friends and family!"

  • Charming and inspired homebase for Big Island explorations!

"We enjoyed calling Mango Cottage “home” during the second half of our recent visit to the Big Island. Past reviews don’t lie: Mango Cottage – and its owners – are a real gem. Christine was a joy to work with from the start. She warmly greeted us upon arrival. With peaceful Hawaiian music playing on the radio, plumeria blossoms throughout the house, wine chilling in the refrigerator and fresh oranges and papaya in the kitchen – we felt greatly welcomed. Surrounded by beautiful landscaping and gate at the front of the driveway, Mango Cottage is private. We found the neighborhood quiet and the hillside location gave expansive view of the coastline below. The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and we had no trouble preparing meals. We were thankful to have use of a BBQ and washer/dryer. Had we of forgotten snorkeling gear there was plenty available. The hot tub was enjoyed after days of exploration. I appreciated Christine’s attention to detail both in and outside of the home. Outside, I smiled more than once happening upon hidden treasures tucked here and there among the landscape. Christine’s green thumb shows in all areas of the yard and floral smells waft into the home day and night. The location of Mango Cottage was ideal for exploring many west-side island locations. Kailua-Kona is only a short drive away. We ventured north to the Pololu Valley Lookout after visiting the charming towns of Waimea and Hawi. We explored several beaches and enjoyed sunset from A Bay on more than one evening. With family also on-island, we traveled south for the Thanksgiving holiday – first to South Point (windy and beautiful) and then on to Sea Mountain where family had rented a condo. Punalu’u Beach was a good place to sink your feet into black sand while watching sea turtles rest on shore. Though there were several options for snorkeling, we enjoyed return visits to Kahalu’u and Ho’okena Beach Parks. We opted for the short – but steep – hike down to Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook Monument where we snorkeled for hours and saw both spinner and bottlenose dolphins from afar. As all the guidebooks advise, Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park is not to be missed. The Big Island is a special place. There is a great deal to explore and the beauty is vast and varied. Our time at Mango Cottage allowed us to settle in and make the most of our visit on the island, while giving us opportunity to create cherished memories."
