"If you are seeking an oceanfront vacation rental that is beautifully furnished, spacious and comfortable, and that provides all needed supplies and amenities, look no further. The large, private lanai was a magical place to begin and end each of our wonderful days on this very special island. The heated pool was perfect for our 2 year old granddaughter, as was the sandy beach in the small cove just steps away (where turtle sightings are guaranteed).
The design of the small 6 unit complex results in privacy and cooling breezes throughout the condo. The furniture was very comfortable, and the appliances worked well.
The owner was very responsive, and upon arrival, we were greeted with a thank you note and gift. We loved staying at the Hale Pohaku, and we will certainly return.

"We have been to Hawaii before, and have rented condos in Maui, but this condo at Kona Reef blew us away: spectacular view from the lanai, from where you can see swimming dolphins and enjoy picturesque sunsets.
The condo was well supplied with absolutely everything we might need - even paper towels and garbage bags (which we could never find in any of the previously rented condos). We really appreciated all beach supplies: masks, tubes, flippers, beach chairs and beach towels, thank you!
We had a problem with lanai door (it wouldn't lock safely), and when I contacted caretakers by e-mail they responded immediately, and the handyman was in our condo the next working day (we didn't have to sit and wait for him at home, as he had an access code to our condo).
Caretakers need to be thanked separately: we were stuck at the front door upon arrival, as we didn't realize the code panel was on the entrance door itself, while we tried to enter security code on the wall unit. I called them and they were very patient with me, although we arrived before check-in time (at 2:20 instead of 3 pm), and helped us to get in. The lady on the phone told me not to hang up until we managed to open the door, and she was sure we succeeded, that was a great relief.
Location of the condo is great - short drive to the beaches, walk distance (about 5-10 minutes) to the town center with shops and restaurants, very short 5 minutes drive to the closest grocery stores (there are 3 on Palani Drive) and 10 minutes drive to Walmart and Safeway (they are located side by side).
The parking is free and Wi-Fi worked perfectly well. The unit has A/C, although it was very loud and we didn't turn it on too often: ceiling fans were enough even in the heat of +32C (90F).
All in all it was a wonderful renting experience, and I would recommend this condo to everyone who travels to Kona."

"We had a wonderful time! My family consists of 4 (2 kids ages 14 and 11) and we shared the home with my brother-in-law and his family which consist of 3 (one 16 year old). There was plenty of room for all. The pool and the view at night were awesome. Such a relaxing home. There was an issue with the pool and tv but I emailed and received a timely response and both situations were corrected. My only suggestion would be for the owners to keep the air a little lower than 86 degrees for the simple reason that the refrigerator condensation would build ice and leak out onto the floor. So every morning and every night my brother in law broke up the ice chunks and cleaned them out of the bottom. I firmly believe the refrigerator was working too hard to combat the 86 degree home. The doors were always shut tightly as well. Though the home was set and locked at 86 degrees (because we didn't purchase the air conditioning) we slept comfortably with the windows open and the fans on. We would highly recommend this home!"

"Condo was great. Excellent location, view, and couldn't have asked for more. Had all the amenities that we needed. The saltwater pool was a plus especially overlooking the beach. Waking up to the waves crashing in the short distance was perfect. It was a quieter resort with either 55+ or families with under 12's. Will definitely be booking this one next year when we go back."
