  • I had a very good time

"The unit, which is a STUDIO condo: well maintained, very clean, with everything you need. The lanai faces the garden, and not the parking lot, which is perfect. The description is accurate, so I don’t have to repeat it in my review. The well maintained complex is right on the shore. Alli Drive Street, where the complex is located, is special. It reminds me of a Turkish Bazaar. Every evening I watched the sunset from the pool, it was SO beautiful! The only ‘negative’ is that I the key that opens the pool gate and the gate to the shore was not available inside the unit when I arrived. Travelers, remind the owner to leave that special key inside the studio. Price: fair, and not overpriced, like other rentals during my stay on the Big Island. Overall review: I was very pleased with my eight days stay. I had a wonderful time there! Many thanks to the owner!"

  • Spacious and comfortable, excellent location.

"Although this unit in Kona Shores is somewhat dated(1970's), we found it to be spacious and very comfortable. we were here for 3 weeks and it felt like coming home every day. Our original idea was to dine out 2-3 times a week but we felt so at home here we only went out for dinner a couple times in 3 weeks. This is a corner unit with an L-shaped patio and a decent ocean view between two other condo buildings. The Master bedroom was large with a great king-sized bed. The unit was equipped with just about everything you could need in terms of kitchen items(except a dishwasher) plus Hawaiian music tapes, outdoor table(we ate dinner every night on the patio). In addition there were beach chairs, snorkels, flippers and other items(a BBQ on the patio would have been a bonus). There was also a pool overlooking the ocean which was hardly ever busy. The owners also sent us a package of information which was extremely helpful and informative. We are considering returning and would certainly recommend this unit."

  • Good economy room

"I enjoyed my visit & would stay here again. There are always pros & cons to any economy condo but the pros seem to outnumber the cons here. Bed & couch are comfortable and the linens clean (though the upper areas of condo especially the bathroom need a good dusting). There is a parking space reserved so no worries when you come home late. There was an umbrella, beach chairs, towels and ice chest available and all the basic kitchen utensils needed for a couple. There are stairs to climb and little air circulation in the room so you need to figure out the method of using the small AC unit vs a fan to cool it off during the night. (Keep the bathroom door closed at all times due to that room being so hot). The complex is older but nice and feels like home. There is a little competition for the outdoor grilling area use but everyone is friendly and met some great people during our week. Despite the no parking signs, there were a couple times guests of the full time residents parked in the car washing space that I needed to wash my dive gear each night so we had to double park & work around them. But just having the hose and space available is a huge plus. The coin laundry ate our coins and it's an outside contractor which was a bit of a problem, but the maintenance man was available and other residents helped us get more change to use another washer. The pool is small clean & has a terrific view. It gets little use so you can usually have it to yourself during the week. No real ocean access but that is normal for most of Kona. The property manager was excellent and quickly responded a couple times when called. No internet was a problem so needed to buy coffee at shop down the street each day to use their wifi. Overall a nice safe & convenient complex."
