"We traveled to Kona as my wife and I had never stayed on the Big Island before. We were there with my in laws and our 9 month old baby and a wonderful time! Their house opened right next to the pool and an amazing view of the Ocean. Every morning and night we ate out on the patio listening to the waves. Everywhere you went in the house you had a view of the ocean! Being right next to the pool allowed us easy access to take our baby in and out of the pool with ease as needed! We were also only a 5 minute walk from a sandy beach! 15 minutes from town worked great to go out and eat the 2 nights we decided too! We are definitely planning on staying here again, next time we visit the Big Island!"

"This home was perfect for us, fully stocked with all needs. The orchard in front of the home provided us with mango, limes, papayas, oranges, avacado, bananas, etc., the gardener asked us weekly what we wanted. The pool and view of the ocean were incredible!! There was plenty of room in the 3 bed/3bath home. You have to have a car, but we were close to everything. This is an awesome property!!"

"Just returned from a 10 day stay at Maluhia Hale. We loved this home. It was clean and comfortable and just lovely. The quiet and privacy was perfect. The views were great to enjoy each day. I wish the neighbor across the street would cut his avocado tree as it totally blocks the actual ball of sun, this time of year, of the sunset. The sky is magnificent at any view but his tree doesn’t allow the full sunset “flash”. However, the egret living in the avocado tree is fun to watch leave and come home each day. You wake up each morning to a symphony of bird song. The pool and waterfall are beautiful and we enjoyed it very much. We even loved it in the rain. The tile is gorgeous and the workmanship is beautiful. The home was perfect for the needs of 3 adults. We had our own space and yet were able to enjoy being together for meals and pool time and movies. We had a rental car that allowed us to explore the island but it certainly isn't a must if you just want to enjoy the nearby beach and Ali'i Drive and downtown area. The younger adults totally enjoyed the proximity of both nearby beaches. This was our first foray into VRBO and it has sold us completely. We won't be going back to hotels or resorts if we can avoid it. This experience was the best!"

"This condo is so wonderfully located, first with it's short walk to all the restaurants and shops in Kailua Village (Kailua-Kona) but more so with its private corner on the top floor of the building and 180 degree (plus) view. You will enjoy watching the body-boarders and surfers right on your doorstep. Sunset's are spectacular. The pictures represent the property quite well so there were no surprises.
Most importantly, dealing with Jim was a true pleasure. We have never rented from such a responsive and honest person who truly wants the best for his guests. Due to a grave illness in the family, only a week prior to our trip we cancelled our reservation, not thinking we would be able to come, and hoping that during Spring Break there would be another taker. Jim was unbelievably accommodating of our situation. Luckily, we were able to come several days later and enjoy his condo for 8 of the original 12 nights. We would highly recommend dealing with Jim to anyone considering staying at the Kona Reef."
