  • Amazing View!

"This place has an amazing view and if you have never been to Hawaii, you should choose this place. The vacation would not have been the same without the stunning ocean view. The price is well worth it and since it comes with a kitchen, you will save money by preparing some of your meals at home. We were able to see whales one morning and a school of dolphins another morning over coffee. The location is great, just 10 minutes from downtown Kona. This condo is highly recommended."

  • Great Ironman Stay

"The property does indeed have a sense of calm and inspires relaxation and introspection. A perfect place to prepare for Ironman whether you are an athlete or a spectator. We happen to have both in our party; competitor and spectators. Happy to share that our athlete made the podium, coming in 4th in his age division, 50-54 years old. There were plenty of linens, pillows, blankets, towels, beach chairs, beach towels, and water/pool toys. So refreshing. The refrigerator was über clean, something VERY appreciated, and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils, plates, seasonings, oil/vinegar, etc. The suggestion in the binder to look around in the cupboards before grocery shopping was spot on, thank you! In fact, the Binder itself was truly appreciated; so much helpful info in there! We couldn't have enjoyed more reading through the approximately 15 years of guest book entries. My son and I particularly had a good time with this and read through them more than once. The photo albums are also a very personal and appreciated touch. It's fun to imagine all the people that have passed over the Kona Hideaway thresholds. Close enough to downtown Kailua Kona, but far enough up the hill to get out of the hustle and bustle. We would highly recommend staying here."

  • Great location!

"Our family of 4 stayed here for just over 2 weeks. The owner was easy to deal with. The condo was in a great location, just as advertised. The beach was visible right from the lanai. The kitchen was well equipped, the only thing missing was bath/hand towels. There were not enough for our family of 4, we had to buy some from Costco. We did our laundry at Tyke's laundromat, they charge by the pound. The unit is on the end of the complex, parking was right outside the back door so it was very simple to load and unload groceries, etc. There was also a handy place to hang wet towels and bathing suits to dry outside. Be aware that the Magic Sands Beach can disappear quickly, one day it's there and the next it's gone. I believe this happens mostly in the winter months. It was there for the first week of our stay, and had started to disappear during our second week. As anywhere in Hawaii, you need to be respectful of the power of the ocean here...there were ambulances at this beach at least twice during our visit. The lifeguards are great, if in doubt talk to one of them before going in. There is a fabulous snorkeling/surfing beach just a few minutes down the road that we frequented. The shopping and restaurants on Ali'i drive are a short 10 minute drive away. There is also a great church, Living Stones, a short distance away. There is a mall close by with a drug store, restaurants, a farmer's market, movie theater and free entertainment on Friday nights. There was some road noise as Ali'i Drive is a busy one...and you can of course hear the ocean waves pounding at night. But nothing a set of earplugs can't fix, if you're a light sleeper. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Would have given it 5 stars if there were adequate towels."

  • Perfect Location & Perfectly Well Equipped and Clean Condo

"My mother and I stayed at this property for Christmas 2014 for 2 weeks. The location is ideal as you can very easily walk into town to do some shopping, try one of the many fabulous restaurants, hit the local market etc. Being along the main street in Kona allows you to go for some great runs as well. The condo itself is spotless and very well equipped. The building itself is very quiet and exceptionally well maintained. The lanai is huge and has separate areas for relaxing and dining which we appreciated. The new beds and AC units were a definite perk. We are grateful the owners shared this unit with us! Most definitely would recommend this unit and will rebook shortly!"
