  • Great value!

"Just got back from a great vacation on the Big Island. We were very pleased with the accommodations. It's difficult to add to what previous reviewers have said, but overall we were very happy with this rental. The location is ideal - within walking distance to great coffee, a sweet little beach, restaurants, etc., but no traffic noise. The building is very clean and quiet. The unit itself has everything you need and more. It was really easy and helpful to have beach chairs, towels, umbrella, snorkeling equipment, etc., available. We really had to stop and think what a big hassle it would have been to have to either travel with all those items or buy/rent them while we were there. I have to give a big shout out to the Wayne and JoAnn, the property managers. They provided great information ahead of time and were extremely accommodating. Very different experience from staying a big hotel. We didn't use the pool at all. We enjoyed some great day trips to northern beaches, as well as an overnight at Volcano. Can't say enough good things about this property!"

  • A Tranquil Spot

"We had a wonderful stay at the Keauhou Sunset. The house was clean and spacious - plenty of room for 4 couples and a toddler. The bedrooms were all large, and the common areas were open and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, and there was beach gear (umbrellas, beach mats, coolers) that definitely came in handy. Adam was really helpful with any questions we had - and he even cut down coconuts so we could all enjoy fresh coconut water! The fresh fruit on the property was abundant, and we enjoyed papayas and starfruit every day. We highly recommend this house!"

  • Beautiful Kona Vacation

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Awesome location in a well located older condo development. Very comfortable property but not upscale. Have been visiting here for over 30 years and love it!"

  • LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION

"Location, location, location is probably what summarize Hale Honu best! This was our first experience on this Island and from what we were able to see, Hale Honu was probably one of the best location available on the Big Island. It offered proximity to downtown (3 1/2 miles) where most of the shops are located and only a short distance away from major grocery store and shopping center. There was 5 of us in our party and we had rented the whole house. The fenced property allow for all the privacy and the noise from Alii Drive was never an issue. Since we had both floor of the house, we had more than enough space and the property offered all the amenities one can ask for. The sound of the surf crashing on the lava at the front of the property and the view was all the entertainment we needed and it was so relaxing that we never even use the television. The view from the upper lanai was just spectacular with whales, dolphins and turtles being center stage every day. We spent hours every morning and every evenings just looking out for them and we were never disappointed. We saw hundreds of whales and dolphins that provided us with front row seat to unbelievable shows; from just swimming along the coast, to breaching, tale slapping, jumping and spinning. Wow, it was like watching Discovery Channel live.... Unfortunately, the surf was very high during our stay which limited the amount of snorkeling we were able to do but this was the call of mother nature and it had nothing to do with Hale Honu. I don't know yet when we will be returning to the Big Island but Hale Honu will certainly be at the top of our list as a place to stay. Don A."
