  • Wonderful and Restful Hawaiian Lodging

"We were privileged to spend six-weeks of a pastoral sabbatical in this beautiful and spacious condominium. We so enjoyed daily swims in the pool and eating on the lanai. Great TV and internet made it easy to stay in touch with family and friends. We enjoyed the location very much... not too close to Kailua, and not too farm from Kailua. We appreciated the snorkel equipment and all the necessary paraphernalia needed for trips to the beach or the mountains. We will definitely be coming back!"

  • Paradise Outside Your Door

"Pros: Nice location, close to ocean. Watch dolphins and whales with your morning coffee if you step outside and sit at the right at the BBQ area. Has the separate bedroom which is so much nicer than a studio rental. Doable walk to town and beaches - a couple of miles, we chose this location for that reason. You need a car but that is a given in Kona and fortunately parking is included. . Quiet area, you feel safe. Well stocked with everything needed for cooking and beach items, even extra things you didn't even think you would need like scissors, tape etc. Fortunately even some condiments left from previous tenants so you don't have to go out and buy everything - just add to. Nice full size stove. Fridge was very clean. Brand new laundry facilities so you can do all your laundry before going home. Lanai was nice, you felt like you were in a little tropical forest until the last day, when they cut it all back to open it up, unfortunate for us that we had to have the worker hacking down vegetation our last day. But it isn't our condo, and the owner was putting it on the market so they needed to get a better view for selling purposes. Pool was clean and often vacant. Condo is located close to the pool and a Pro - right beside the BBQ area, also a Con - right beside the BBQ area, they have parties sometimes there, we were fortunate and none happened while we were there. Pro - condo management staff always cleaning/fixing/vegetation removal/garbage etc. very visible presence, but also a con - they can be working anywhere, sometimes right outside your windows at "inconvenient" times. Owner communication response time was good helps maintain faith in VRBO. Overall another good VRBO experience. Cons: Mention to cleaning staff to leave info booklet out on counter to answer any condo questions. TV either is or the size of or is a computer screen (you aren't there to watch TV, but at night a larger screen would be nice, but if the low rental price means a smaller TV screen, I can live with that. Was mostly clean but needs a little extra detail cleaning, overhead fans needed dusting, I know the staff can't get everthing. No AC stated, but the standing fan didn't work and the main living room fan barely sporadically worked. The price was why we chose this condo so we could stay longer not posher and if that is your priority it will fit your vacation needs, would stay again, Alii Villas is a nice community."

  • Great stay!

"Fantastic location: walking distance to town, yet super quiet. The best part is the lanai: all our "in-home" meals were eaten outside. The lanai is very private, has wonderful views of both the ocean and the mountains. The unit is clean, bright and very comfortable. The kitchen is a little outdated but has all the conveniences one might need and more. The king bed is very comfy and having 2 bathrooms was very practical. We would return and definitely recommend this unit."

  • Great spot, Fantastic Host!

"My wife and I stayed here for four days as part of our honeymoon to the Big Island. LOCATION: Near Captain Cook and important amenities very close by like grocery store, gas, kayak rentals, breakfast, other nice food spots, coffee farms, beach, amazing snorkeling. Conveniences nearby but you feel like you are away from the heavily touristed Kailua-Kona, which is a 20-25 minute drive away. SETTING: Five acre property with a few buildings on it, within a secure gated entrance. The huge and gorgeous main house is a separate building from this rental property, which is a smaller, not super fancy but in a very quaint, comfortable and peaceful setting. This rental is private from the other buildings on the property. Stunning view from the lanai. Waking up to birds, roosters and sipping coffee on lanai while watching sunrise. Weather was always comfortable and we spent both mornings and evenings in shorts and t-shirt typically. Mango, papaya, citrus, bananas, MAC nut tree behind house (an abundance of nuts you can crack and eat), avocado, pineapple...all available for picking. AMENITIES: the usual stuff plus snorkeling gear, propane mini BBQ with a nice grill, washer/dryer, chairs, beach umbrella, fully stocked kitchen appliances. However, no high quality coffee making supplies, so if you're a coffee connoisseur you may want to bring your own stuff (for instance: only a blade grinder and Mr Coffee drip is available). We like burr grinder and French press... MANAGER: Candi is a darling of a person and shares the Aloha generously. Available and affable but not overbearing. Lives nearby. Went the extra mile for us on a couple occasions. Also has 100% Kona coffee for sale which was grown on the estate. I would recommend this rental to a friend."
