  • Loved this place!

"This place was perfect! We were very comfortable here. We arrived to a stunning fresh flower arrangement, along with handmade leis, both done by the owner. Very clean with windows open and ready for us. There was also fresh papaya and a lime. Assuming the two went together, I cut the papaya (thought I didn't like papaya) and sprinkled with lime juice - tasty! We used the beach chairs, mats, towels and snorkel equipment. Fantastic to have been provided. Thanks, Della! Terrific stay!"

  • What a great place to stay in Kona!

"We absolutely loved our stay at Duke's House. My husband and I stayed there for a month. Another couple stayed with us for 10 days. We had plenty of room with the two bedrooms. There is a spacious kitchen, dining and living area. We had everything we needed as far as kitchen supplies and even spices. The bathroom has two sinks and the shower/toilet area is divided by a sliding door. This gave everybody plenty of privacy and room to get ready. The wrap-around deck was great for viewing the ocean, the cruise ship each week and the beautiful sunsets. Rory was a great host. We can't say enough good things about his hospitality. We had access to boogie boards, coolers, snorkeling equipment, umbrellas, beach chairs, and beach mats. It was a great location in a family-friendly neighborhood. It is very close to the downtown area and was in a great location for driving to the beaches, shopping areas, etc. Rory even had bikes for us to use. My husband rode quite a bit around the neighborhood and downtown. Just a warning though: it's all uphill on the way back! Some of the decorating and furniture could use a few updates, but that absolutely did not deter from our stay there. It was beginning to really feel like home when we had to leave. We would love to stay here again. Thanks Rory!"

  • A week in Paradise

"We loved our week here. The condo was clean and very well appointed with everything that you might need for the week including a washer and dryer. We loved having beach chairs to take with us to the beach as well as the large beach towels. The lanai is lovely and we could watch surfers and see turtles in the surf below. The sunset is gorgeous from that vantage point. The bed was comfortable and even though it was just the two of us we enjoyed having two bathrooms when we were getting ready to start the day. This condo would be perfect for two couples or a family. We used the second bedroom to tuck our luggage out of the way after we had unpacked. There was an elevator so stairs were not an issue. I will definitely put this unit on my list of condos I would stay at next time I'm in Hawaii."

  • Memories of a wonderful vacation at Hale Pohaku

"I wish we could have stayed longer. Our family had such a fun and relaxing vacation at this property. Everything was as we expected and hoped for. You walk into the condo and you could tell it is very clean and well maintained. Everything is very modern and new, the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, furniture, fixtures...everything. The bed and linens are of good quality and very comfortable. The kitchen is complete with nice utensils and supplies. Practically everything is provided to make you feel like you are home. A very nice beachfront property home. There are only six units in this condominium and it has a private feel. I did not see the occupants of the other units except for once when I was sitting at the lanai. It is really quiet except for the constant sound of the waves crashing against the beach and the chirping birds. There is a small sandy cove in front of the property and another a bit to the right of it. Guests at some resorts that have rocky beachfronts need to walk all the way to this one to enjoy the beach. The water has a bed that is more rocky than sandy so this is good for snorkeling as you will get to see a lot of fish even at shallow parts. Downtown Kailua-Kona is close enough to walk if you like walking. I don't so we always drove. It has that genuine island atmosphere, not the theme park feel of Waikiki. A lot of good places to eat here. One of my favorite parts was just sitting at the lanai, relaxing and enjoying the view of the ocean. I spent so much time losing myself in the scenery, watching the water and the sky and the trees swaying to the breeze. It was easy to leave the rest of the world and all my worries behind and appreciate just being there. This was also a great bonding experience for our family. We were all tired and stressed out from work and school and everything else that we have going on, that we really need this break. Hale Pohaku, this condo that we stayed in for our vacation was the perfect location for us. I wish we had more time to spend here. Next time, I'll make sure to stay longer. This is a wonderful property in a great location. I am very happy that we stayed here. I have very good memories of our vacation."
