  • A little peice of heaven

"Tara Cottage is a perfect romantic getaway for young and old alike. The grounds are awesome. Birds, Roosters, chickens and geckos greet you every morning, and the Coqui frogs chirped us to sleep each night. Coffee is grown on the grounds and is free for your stay which is really cool. Plus some other special snacks await your arrival. The octagon shaped room is beautiful place to hang out. The outdoor shower is awesome! Michael, the owner is nearby and his little dog is the cutest!"

  • A home away from home

"We spent four glorious weeks in Jill's darling, cute, well appointed cottage that had everything we wanted. One exception was the minimal Satellite TV options. We would have preferred a full cable set up/programming. Not a huge deal. The bedrooms were lovely. There were small AC units in there to cool them before sleeping. The yard was full of a huge variety of wonderful Hawaiian fruit. It was so much fun picking our fruit from the trees as needed. There is a lovely outdoor shower that was a pleasure for both washing off sand and cooling down. Jill and James were fun and accommodating. We are swimmers and spent most days in one of the two glorious bays nearby. We swam with the Spinner dolphin many times. Each time felt like a blessing. Truly amazing! In short we loved every minute and are hard at work figuring out how to return in 2015. You will not be disappointed, but you will be spoiled. Stay at your own risk! :)"

  • Just about perfect getaway

"We stayed 8 days and had a wonderful time. The house easily accommodated our party of 15 and worked great for all ages (1-year-old baby to 69 year-old grandpa). We found the entire house very clean when we arrived and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has a good stove, refrigerator and dishwasher and is arranged so it is easy to work in. The center island is large and makes a good place for serving. There are lots and lots of pot and pans, bowls, utensils, plates, etc. When we were there there were several boxes of snorkeling equipment, kids beach toys and a couple of kayaks all of which we made use of. The big lanai off the living room/kitchen is especially inviting and we spent a lot of time there relaxing, talking, eating and playing games. The yard is large and lovely with lots of beautiful flowers and coconut and papaya trees. The house feels secluded even though there are several houses nearby. All the foliage blocks the other houses. It is close to the ocean and there are areas within a couple of minutes easy walk that are safe and interesting for babies, children and adults. We saw spinner dolphins in the morning, snorkeled and kayaked later in the day. The tide pools at Manini Beach are fascinating. We found the owner and manager both to be easy to work with and quick to respond to emails. We would recommend it and would love to go back ourselves."

  • Great Vacation House

"4 of us stayed for 6 nights on Jan 2015. This was our 2nd time to stay at this house. Always great !! We saw whales from Lanai everyday. Also, we encountered with dolphin and swam with them at the Kealakekua Bay which is located just in front of the house!! Just stay at the house and relax, snorkeling…… BBQ… That all we did. We are sure to come back the house next year again."
