  • Absolutely Hawaiian

"A First class accommodation in a beautiful slightly remote location. Loved the fruit trees, all the macadamia nuts you could eat, and a very interesting parrot sanctuary. The owners are on-sight and very pleasant. The cottage has everything you will need, very comfortable with a lovely porch and outside shower to get the sand off when you get doused! The Big Island is so interesting. Lots of geology and beautiful scenery, but not much in the way of beaches."

  • Bungalow a magic find!

"What a sweet, well-loved place! We felt so fortunate to have stumbled upon this place--who knew? Reggie takes such care to see that her people are happy--she responded immediately to our requests and tended to them with generosity. The jungle garden is magical, and the hot-tub a godsend! Love, love, love the lanai and the bed out there!! And when we had to leave early because of a hurricane scare (which never ended up landing!), she generously offered us a night refund, way beyond the call of duty, and a great sign of her commitment to helping her guests have a good experience. We would stay there again when we come to the big island! thank you!!"

  • A perfect place to stay

"This was Tom and my first visit to Hawaii. When Beth told me she had a house in Hawaii when I mentioned we were talking about going to the Big Island, we had to have detail. We stayed 10 days and from the moment we walked into the house, to the last moments there, it felt warm and welcoming, almost as if it was our own home on the Big Island. We would go to bed each evening with a fan blowing on us, and by midnight, we had to pull heavier covers over us to keep off the chill. When we met people at places like Green Sands and told them were we were staying, each wanted details on the house and what if offered over the private resorts. You cannot beat staying in Rainbow Ohana. Our trip was made all the more special as Tom proposed to me one late afternoon as we enjoyed Pololu from the beech. Our stay will always be a magical stay at Rainbow Ohana and we hope to return in the near future. If you need a place to stay, Rainbow Ohana has everything you need from a place to prepare your own meals, a comfortable bed, washer and dryer, and sunsets that are hard to match. Thank you Beth for sharing it with us and Jeri making sure all our needs were met. Mahalo Tom and Delaney"

  • Our first time on the Big Island

"This was an incredible spot for our first trip to Hawaii as it was away from the touristy spots yet still very close to everything we wanted to do. There is enough local stores in the immediate area that provided us with what we needed without having to drive the 10 miles or so into Kona. The place is truly surrounded by tropical forest which gave you a sense of total privacy as they list on their info page. The patio with the chairs for relaxing/sunning along with the bbq grill was a definite plus as well. As you can see I gave the place an excellent rating which it certainly deserved BUT the only caveat to my review would be something that is entirely out of the owners control which was the noises of the many animals that surround you all of the time especially at night and early in the AM. It was very enjoyable as you have to understand that you were in the jungle but the roosters starting their "squawking" pretty early in the morning and being a light sleeper I had to purchase a set of earplugs to be able to cut down on some of it. Do NOT let this be a warning as to not to go but simply one to understand as the place is well worth the stay."
