"We were a family of 12, ages 5-67. This was a wonderful base to start out each day and end each night. We were very happy with the rooms, the location, the views, and of course the owner who was very helpful. There is enough space so if you wanted you could spread out and enjoy some quiet time, but you could also all hang out together..especially on the wonderful lanai. Everything in Kona is close, 20 min to Costco, Safeway, Walmart and of course some nice snorkelling spots. The following isn't complaints, just things you should be aware of; the pools are not heated, but the kiddie pool was warmer so thats where the kids spent most of their time. This may be different in the summer time. The roosters referred to in other reviews are noisy and they start in the middle of the night marking their territory by crowing. Bring ear plugs or just wait a couple nights and you will get used to it,mostly. There are ample kitchen supplies and condiments and the owner has extras that get left behind, like our sriracha sauce. I'd also recommend Google street view the drive from the airport as it is fun and twisty, respect the speed limits. It cools down nicely at night so no a/c is not a problem. We had a wonderful vacation in part because of this wonderful property and owner, and her cute "little" dog. Aloha and mahalo."

Great find in the hills on the north side of Kailua-Kona
"The location was great, really nice for getting a feel for the local community. Also an excellent choice if you're budget-conscious. Not only are you effectively getting 3 bedrooms for the price of two, but being on the north side of Kailua is great for affordable shopping at Target (most food) and Coscto ($4.99 roast chicken and cheap gas), as well as lots of free beach access. The place has plenty of lovely outdoor areas: we spent mornings by the koi pond watching the birds, fish, and geckos, and evenings on the lanai watching the sunsets and the local fauna passing thru. It has a spacious feel and seems to have been designed with a lot of consideration for natural light and air flow, and the decor is homey without feeling cluttered. The facilities include wi-fi, board games, and guide books, along with water sports equipment downstairs. Very nice master suite, and a roomy downstairs area suitable for a group of four. Superior kitchen and dining facilities. The owner is personable and responsive, and there is even a very nice neighbor who delivers her own locally made desserts. Does it get better?"

"My husband and I loved the location of the condo. It was so convenient to have a kitchen and BBQ area, as we had many meals at "Home". There was a pick-a-boo view of the ocean from the lanai. The owners made check-out easy by having us load the dishwasher, set it to run and go. It was such a relief to not have to do much cleaning. The owners provided snorkel equipment, beach towels, cooler, and chairs for our use. It was a wonderful property and location to town without being too close to the rest of the tourists."

"Beautiful, extremely clean, beachfront, pool home in a gated community. This lovely home has a very large kitchen, huge master bedroom and bathroom, and a/c in all bedrooms. Management company was friendly and professional. Lots of extras all through the home and we even had fresh flowers! Thanks Tom and Gidget!"
