  • Perfect place to stay in Kona!

"I just returned from a 12 day stay at his condo with my family of 4. The pictures almost don't do it justice, its perfect! Everything was very clean and tidy when we got there. There were absolutely no problems with cockroaches or geckos in the condo, I saw maybe 3 bugs the entire time and they were small ones that would have entered when opening and closing the screens. The condo has a great view and a nice hammock/patio to sit on and have meals or just enjoy the sun, there are also plenty of fans to keep the condo cool during the heat of the day. From the patio we could watch paddle boarders, boats and sea life (particularly dolphins). There are also 2 geckos that like to hang out on the patio. The condo also has a pool which was usually pretty quiet and nice to head to for a quick swim if you didn't want to walk to the beach. The beach park is within probably a 15 minute walk up the road, and is really great to go snorkelling at. The guest book was really helpful in finding places to eat/tours to take, we were never disappointed. My favourite thing that we did was book a private fishing boat through Bite Me for 6 hours, we caught a 283 pound marlin and a 12 pound mahi mahi, it was a great experience for all of us. The condo is in a great location to do site seeing around the island (ex-volcano, black sand beaches) and easily accessible from the main highway. I didn't notice any traffic noise from the road. I would definitely stay here again, the owners have done a really wonderful job and were incredibly helpful and prompt when booking the property."

  • Great Spot in Paradise(Keauhou-Kona) #59

"We have always wanted to stay at the Kona Surf and Racquet Club. Finally did this Thanksgiving and we were not disappointed. Very nice Townhouse, clean, comfortable and lots of space to relax. We just lived on the Lanai and enjoyed coffee in the morning and Umbrella Drinks in the afternoons. Very close to the pool, bbq's, short trek to the beach and enjoyed exploring the Lava Rocks out front. I have to say that besides the great location, near grocery and drugstore, the beach toward the abandoned Old Hotel grounds gave us a lot of Beach Time that was quiet and calm. Definitely a bonus and we had explored this area before the Hotel was torn down, years back. Great to be able to use this to our Hearts Content, not many other beachcombers and we just loved that! Saw a lot of interesting fish and turtles here, nephews came down to play in the surf. I would say everything was pretty much perfect. We cooked many meals and found that the kitchen had all tools and pans we needed. We felt like we were at home. Nice welcome gifts were well received. Beds were comfy and clean. Fans kept the rooms cool and breezy. Nice sheets and pillows. Plenty of towels for bath and pool. Toys for the nephews were a bonus for the beach! All in all a sweet little place and lovely stay! Bonus was being able to walk to the Snorkel Beach, which is making a comeback! Hooray! I rented snorkel gear, reasonable $18. for the day. Tons of fish and nice warm waters, I did not wear my reef shirt! We also did some hiking around the area and saw some other beaches we would like to visit when we return again. Lots of birds, mongoose(saw here and there) and local kitty's. Really a great place to spend time and unwind. We did find a few new places to eat and have a beer. The Fishhopper in Kona Town was very friendly and good. Charley's Thai in Waimea did not disappoint our vegetarian son! Tried to visit the Kona Brew House, always packed, but decided perhaps there must be another place with Kona Beer, found a few for my husband the beer drinker! Son loved Lava Java, music and coffee : ) There is a fine used bookstore, Industrial area in Kona. Huge selection of books, hard to find. It is near the Health Food store. Google for directions. We would definitely visit this place again and would highly reccomend it to anyone who was traveling to Kona/Big Is. Thanks for sharing this place with us!"

  • A Great Place to Exhale!

"We travel extensively and I have to say that this is the MOST relaxing spot we have ever stayed in. The lanai is not large but we thouroughly enjoyed it each and every day of our stay. For us, this was the townhome's best feature. Although there is a nice dining area inside, we didn't use it once - not even for a coffee. Why would you when you have the option of the lanai table with its spectacular view and the ocean breezes augmented by an overhead fan? The completely private view of the crashing waves was simply good for the soul. All of the oceanfront townhomes have similar lanais but we noticed that ours had the best location for view and privacy - and the orientation was perfect for shade, light, breeze and sunsets. I'm a "clean freak" and it's not unusual for me to sanitize bathrooms, kitchens etc. before unpacking. Not this tme; every inch of the place is well maintained, organized and immaculate. Jeri, who is the owner's "eyes and hands on the ground" is a treasure - she keeps the place in top notch condition and - on top of doing her job very well - is a pleasure to deal with. She was there to welcome us and took time to check in on us during our stay - without being intrusive. She even generously brought us samples of her wonderful home-grown coffee and fruits! The owner, Sandy was always easy to contact and very responsive to any of our questions or requests. As others have mentioned, the complex is gated, well maintained and attractive. An extra bonus was that the only noise we ever heard was the crashing of the ocean waves; what a wonderful way to go to sleep. The water right outside the lanai is crystal clear, blue and visibly filled with brightly colored schools of fish and tons of big turtles. We never got tired of looking for them! We had the condo for two wonderful weeks and we fully intend on going back."
