"This condo has an excellent location with stunning views of the ocean and sunsets. The condo was VERY well-stocked with most everything we needed including beach and snorkeling equipment. We had many enjoyable meals on the lanai watching surfers or cruise ship activity. We did have two nice dinners out--Mi's Italian Bistro was great--the best tiramisu I ever had! We also had our last dinner at Ray's by the Bay at the Sheraton where we watched from our rail side fire pit table as the tour boats offered night swims with the manta rays--romantic setting. We did many day trips from our "home base"--we even went to Hilo for the Saturday Market taking the new Daniel Inouye Highway which trims the trip to a slick 90 minutes! The only down side to our stay was that the condo hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival due to a miscommunication. The owner contacted the property manager and someone was there to clean and detail the place within the hour and we were refunded the cleaning fee. We would DEFINITELY return to the Big Island, Kona and this condo in particular since our stay was so wonderful."

  • Awesome home

"I stayed here in July 2014. The amenities were more than I expected. A full service kitchen, spacious living area, satellite tv ( even though I didn't watch that often, too busy seeing the island) The bed rooms were very comfortable. When I got there I opened the windows and balcony sliding door and never closed them. I kept the screens closed though. Every bedroom has its own bathroom. The breeze that the home got was great. There was total privacy. it was like we were the only people around for miles. The view of the night sky from the roof deck was spectacular, no light pollution to wash out the stars. the home is centrally located to the south side of the island and Kona."

  • Great stay for family of six

"We stayed here for 5 nights in July - 2 parents, 2 grandparents and 2 kids ages 10 and 12. It was a wonderful location - 5 miles out of Kona so away from all the busyness but close enough to head in for dinner. We snorkeled at Kahalu'u every morning - best snorkeling ever for free! We really appreciated the high quality free snorkel gear provided at the condo. The condo was good sized with plenty of room for everyone. There is a grocery store less than 1 mile away with a farmer's market once a week. We did the night snorkel with the manta rays with Fairwinds which was less than a mile away as well. A relaxing stay, near great snorkeling and amenities."

  • Whales and Dolphins

"We had a great time at the Pagoda House. Things you might like to know: 1. The house is huge. You will have all the room you need. 2. There are bugs because the front side of the house is all screens. It is like you are in a huge lanai. People will either like this, or not, because of the indoor bugs and geckos. We liked it. Sort of like glamping (glamorous camping). 3. The bay is right there. Like others, we rented sea kayaks and not only saw dolphins, but also whales. There is a little place where you can rent kayaks just to the south. Take the second road to your right. We were the first ones out in the morning and were able to paddle up near the humpback whales. They did a deep dive and showed us their tails just like in the pictures. Very cool and only $50 per double kayak. We did the snorkeling and the dolphins that day, too. 4. The big cane spiders are harmless but scary looking. We had three show up in the various bedrooms. 5. The last miles to the house are via a very curvy road. It was a bit of a chore to drive that road. 6. The noises we heard at night and early dawn included dogs barking, feral cats fighting, roosters crowing, and birds at dawn. Some of these were not a problem, but others we could have done without. You can't shut these noises out because the windows are screens. 7. The owners provided a huge gift basket for us upon arrival. We really appreciated that. 8. The owners request that you don't move the furniture, however it was March and the NCAA basketball tournament was being played. There were times that we wanted to watch TV. Unfortunately, the TV is at the end of a long room and the couch and chairs were lined up against the walls facing at right angles to the TV. It was impossible to watch the TV without cranking your neck. 9. You are on an island without garbage pickup. You have to take your garbage to the transfer station on a day near your departure. 10. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. 11. We really enjoyed the pool and the area around it. The pool was great. 12. The bay near the house is pretty rocky at the edges. Good for snorkeling, but not great access for snorkeling. We found a little beach down the first road to the west heading south. You access it between a house and a concrete pad. There, you can safely get into the bay for snorkeling or swimming. Picnic tables and grass is there too."
