  • Perfect for a Relaxing Getaway

"Just returned from our 5-night stay at the Plantation Home. I've rented many places through VRBO and this is the first time I've written a review. The location was perfect - close enough to Kona for some dinners out but far enough away for quiet and relaxation (after an hour out on the lanai with the cool ocean breeze we totally blocked out the mooing of the cows next door). It was also a great location for heading to the volcanoes, bypassing the Kona traffic. There were four of us staying at the home and we all loved it. It was comfortable for 4 adults - 2 bedroom suites on opposite sides of the house and plenty of space without feeling like we overdid it. Not that we needed all of the space on the inside since we spent most of our time on the lanai or in the pool. The views were fantastic and the owners were very helpful. In case you are wondering, it took us about 20ish minutes to get to Kona (30-45ish minutes to the airport depending on traffic, about an hour and a half to the volcanoes. Greenwell Farms coffee is just down the street, as is Da Poke Shack, both great stops (though if you are hitting up Kona, you have to check out Umeke's - DELICIOUS!). Kealakekua Bay was also super close, but we didn't go down there. We were too busy napping on the lanai. When talking about whether we'd come back to the Big Island (all of us were visiting for the first time) we all responded that we'd come back and book the Plantation Home again. The pictures just don't do this place justice."

  • The View or "I must be dreaming, because this place is un-real!"

"Our comments echo all previous 5 star reviews. Words and photos only attempt to describe Kai Ea's state of bliss. You must experience it yourself. Our favorite features include, the view, the outdoor shower, the lanai, the peacefulness, the view, the art, the architecture, the view, the comfy furnishings, the view, and the view. Dennis is friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Kai Ea, The Breath of the Sea will forever be our 1st choice when we are on Hawai'i Island."

  • Fantastic Villa

"We recently stayed nine nights. First time for us at this villa and we loved it. Waiulu is an excellent location - close to the Four Seasons. The golf course and mountain views never get old. Our kids loved being on the ground floor where they could easily run around on the grass out back. Everything about the villa is well done. The property manager is excellent to work with and makes for a smooth experience, and the people onsite are very attentive to making sure you have everything you need. The Hualalai is our favorite place to visit and we are looking forward to being back to this villa in years to come."

  • Happiness in Paradise

"It starts the minute you walk through the front door and pick your head up. You are looking straight out to the lanai and your gaze takes you to the South Pacific. As you stand there in awe, you immediately begin day dreaming about Mai Tais and white sandy beaches, you are run into from behind by the rest of your party wanting to get through the front door and get a view of what has stopped you in your tracks. I knew right then and there, this was the place to stay. There isn't a better sunset anywhere on the island. We had many "happy hours" from the beautiful lanai - literally a rocks throw from the ocean. The weather was superb and the condo had everything needed to make this stay a memorable one. Already planning a return stay - see you again next year (if not sooner)."
