  • Honeymoon in a Treehouse

"What an amazing experience! We spent 3 days and two nights at Skye's Treehouse in Volcano. It was the perfect way to start our honeymoon! Skye offered very helpful and practical advice on places to go and things to do including when to do them based on experience, weather, busy times, etc.. His advice was always spot on!!! He made our stay super easy with great food recommendations, hikes and sites to see. Thanks Skye! The treehouse was more than we hoped for! It was located in an ultra private property that was dense with natural vegetation and wildlife. The trail into the house was gorgeous and easy to navigate. The treehouse was 20+ feet in the air and it was huge! The place had details and personal touches everywhere. Each item thoughtfully placed. We appreciated how comfortable and functional everything was. The place is nearly all windows with wonderful views from all around! It is clear the place was built for personal use with all of the attention to detail and the homey feeling the place exudes!! The lanai was extraordinary. Having coffee out in the middle of the trees with all the wildlife was incredible. Thanks Skye for sharing your place with us. We would love to return. It was a tremendous value for the cost and exceeded all of our expectations! Mahalo! Linda and Mike K"

  • Definite local experience

"We loved getting to visit the Big Island and seeing all the true Hawaiian culture along with all the hot sites and little known secret places. Though there are a few things I wish had been different to make the stay easier and more pleasant. 1. There's no house number sign on the road to tell you where the house is and because the area is dense in trees/shrubs, we couldn't find it and had to stop and ask. 2. Upon entering the house there were cobwebs EVERYWHERE. 3. There's no AC, which we didn't expect, so we had to work out a system with fans and windows to keep it mild inside. 4. The couch sinks to the middle when you sit on it and not all the lights in the house work. Namely the living room light, so we had to overcompensate with the dining table light (which only had 2 of 5 bulbs in it until we added two more). 5. Ants. We couldn't leave any food out anywhere. Dirty dishes in the sink, crumbs of food our toddler left from eating, crumbs on the stove from cooking, nothing. We woke up in the mornings or returned from sight-seeing on more than one occasion to ants all over the floor, counter, and sink. Even when we had cleaned the dishes. 6. No dishwasher. Wasn't a huge inconvenience, but still a surprise I would have liked to have been prepared for. 7. The internet was not good. And the remotes for the tv and such didn't work half the time or at all. Also I would recommend widening the variety of movies provided. A family with young children needs more than just R-rated movies or less popular ones from the 1990s. We ended up watching most entertainment on our laptop or iPad, which only worked if the moment was right and only one device was connected to the internet. The property is beautiful and we loved the frogs chirping at night and the colorful lizards crawling around the outside in the afternoon. We didn't spend a whole ton of time in the house as we were out and about seeing all we could every day. But when we were back these were the things we were dealing with that we wished we didn't have to."

  • KC's Paradise

"Great house, nice view. This is our third stay in Kapoho Beach and each one gets better. The layout is such that my sister and brother-in-law had their own side for privacy. The kitchen was well equipped, it was just a bit small since we had two cooks in the mix but the meals they created from locally sourced food (Maku'u Market on Sundays, Hilo Market Wed and Sat, Shoprite north of Hilo) were fantastic. We are avid outdoor adventurers and this area makes a great base for snorkeling, biking and hiking. Rental arrangements went off without a hitch. Owners stayed in touch during the gale force wind induced power outage."

  • WOW

"We loved this house so much we have already booked it for next year! The positive: the deck looking out over the tide pools, quiet and peaceful, snorkeling was amazing, house comfortable and clean. The negative: nope none! We found this house very comfortable, yes it is older and not fancy but then we are older and not fancy! It is a long way to the store but the best snorkeling that we have ever experienced is in your back yard! You do want a rental car if you stay here!"
