"After staying at La Capana May of 2014 we decided to return for a visit in July of this year.
This is a really comfortable, well-equipped, and seriously convenient place to stay. It is close to the highway but we had no problems with noise at all. On the contrary the proximity to the highway made it a cinch to get to Volcano National Park as well as down to beaches and other sights in the Puna area.
Donna is a great host. Last year I had problems with an allergy to scented laundry products at the property. I mentioned it to Donna this year when I booked and not only were the sheets and towels washed with unscented detergent but the laundry room was stocked with unscented detergent and fabric softener.
We'll be back!"

"We are a family of 3 and this cottage was the perfect amount of space for us. It was so much fun to swim in the beautiful ocean outside your back door. The geothermal "pools" are just spectacular! Bring your own snorkel gear. We were in the water everyday checking out all the beautiful fish. Many people pay good money to get a snorkeling trip like the one in your own backyard. We saw tons of beautiful fish everyday and even swam beside 2 Sea Turtles! It was truly spectacular! House was well stocked with towels and everything that was needed. The master bedroom is very small and the bed not too comfy. But the second room of 2 bunks (4 beds) was great. If you are a family of 4 or 5 this is still plenty of space. It's a cute funky beach cottage and we LOVED every second. If you are not big on lizards and geckos you may be a little squeamish! However, we LOVED seeing all the geckos outside and in the house. There was one in particular that must live behind the cupboards in the kitchen. Numerous times we gently removed it from the house and every time it wound up back inside. My 7 year old daughter just adored catching and releasing geckos. It was hours of entertainment. Lots of crabs down in the "pool" too. She loved seeing them and we did catch one baby one while there to check out and release. The crabs are really quick. They don't like humans and move out of sight when you get near. So again nothing to worry about if your not a big animal lover like we are.
The only negative was that along side of this property is the public access route. So there is a constant stream of people walking alongside your property to access the pools as well. We stayed Monday through Thursday which I'd consider the slow part of the week and there was still a steady flow of people each day. So it wasn't really as private as I would've liked but guess that's the price you pay to be somewhere as gorgeous as this. Others want to see it too :) We'll be back! Mahalo!"

"The unique layout of this home, wrapped around a center Japanese garden, made our stay memorable. Sliding panels open the rooms to garden views and breezes. The two large bedrooms and four sitting areas sometimes made it challenging to find one another! The landscaped lava field across the street is beautiful, demonstrating the love and care also shown in the prints and art objects which decorate every room. We enjoyed the bicycles and the children loved the pool and the moas. You won't forget this special house. photos don't do it justice."
