VERY COMFORTABLE & CONVENIENT TO HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
"We appreciated Becky sharing her home with us! It was truly a "home away from home". We were able to do so much at HVNP because we were only 4 miles away. We did all the Day Hikes that the NP recommends and some extras. We enjoyed the Kilauea Iki Trail the most, including the Lava Tube. The most challenging was the Hilina Pali Trail to Ka'aha. It was easy to see the glowing caldera in the Kilauea Crater at night with such a short trip back to "home".
The kitchen is large and easy to use, so much storage area. We enjoyed the grill and having a washer & dryer convenient to use. The rooms are all separate enough to accommodate other couples or two or more families (four separate bedrooms). Everything worked out very well! We'd stay here again and recommend it to others!"

Beautiful Rain Forest Vacation Home for our big family!
"We had a nice time at the Naupaka Guest House secluded in the Rain Forests of Hilo. Surrounded, by beautiful nature and the wonderful sounds of birds and frogs, we loved it. There was plenty room for our two families with 9 kids total and my dad. We each had privacy but gathered together in the mornings before we headed out and in the evenings before sleeping. They have everything for you, even if you forgot soap and shampoo. They had a cooler (life saver) and beach chairs and noodles and boogie boards and umbrellas. Each room was cutely decorated and we slept comfortably. They have a washing machine and dryer which is so necessary for our bunch of kids. And the kitchen had all we needed for cooking. To top it of Gina was super communicative, so we felt taken care of from our first inquiry about the property. She and Mike greeted us when we arrived and they were so kind. There's plenty to do with this spot as your central location. They have guide books in the house that helped us plan our adventures. We also had the added bonus of having family live near by in paradise park and so it was extra fun for us. If you want to be in the center of city night life and have room service and someone to make your bed everyday...this isn't the place for you. But if you want a clean, comfortable place to make your own meals and enjoy the beauty of hawaii's nature in a secluded, quiet (except the sounds of nature) this is the place to be. Thanks Gina and Mike for helping to make our Big Island stay a wonderful vacation."

"My family and I really enjoyed spending 3 nights at The Ohana on The Big Island! We really enjoyed meeting Heath and his beautiful family. There is sooo much to do on The Big Island and Heath helped us "plan it all out"! The Ohana was in the perfect location for exploring The Volcanoes National Park, Lava Tree State Park, Wai'ope Tide Pools, the Geothermal Hot Pond, and lots of black lava/sand beaches. We even drove to Southpoint one day and explored Waipio Valley AND the Green Sand Beach (whew...what hikes). It was so nice to return to The Ohana each evening, after being "on the go" each day. The best part of all...the frogs would "croak us to sleep"!"

"We chanced upon this Hale very last minute in our trip-planning and lucked out completely.
Only several blocks away from the ocean and amazing scenic drives at every turn. The Hale itself is spacious and offers cottage comfort. We slept a family of four, including our two small children, very comfortably with plenty of amenities (full kitchen, two full baths, washer/dryer, screened-in patio) to make us feel at home. Details such as a nightlight in the bathroom, weren't overlooked!
Short drives every day gave us plenty of local adventure. We never went further than an hour by car and filled our two week stay with new things to see every day. Locally, the small village of Pahoa has some fantastic, casual restaurants and we loved shopping at their Natural Foods Store for health food items we never expected to buy on an island! The Maku-U Market (held on Sunday's,despite old signage!) was one of our favourite local hang-outs with great prepared food, fresh local produce and misc vendors selling everything from home-made lai's to vintage clothing to tropical plants.
A bit tricky to find comfortable beaches with small children, but eventually we found many shallow tide pool parks before reaching Richardson Beach Park in Hilo. Along the strip to Richardson Beach Park, you have your choice of several ocean-side places to swim safely with children and enjoy colourful fish. Waterfalls are also easy trips for young and old; Akaka Falls being one of the most scenic with a well laid out path through the rainforest.
The best bonus of the trip is an accommodating, welcoming host who is most helpful and quick to respond to questions.
Absolutely, highly recommended for a fresh take on a Hawaiian vacation."
