Great Family Time
"We stayed from July 3-9 and was a great location for us. Nice quiet location away from the traffic. My 9 yr old daughter enjoyed swimming every day in the lagoon with fishes and turtles. Very relaxing spot. However, it was a little uneasy at first to have our kids sleep down stairs away from main floor. But, they were good with it. Will like to go back again soon. One week was not long enough to enjoy the big island. Check in and out was easy. Note: no cell phone service. Just WiFi."

"We enjoyed our time here. Quiet, great star gazing, snorkelling in the pools, bike riding... this house is really nicely built and appointed. There's lots to explore nearby and volcano park is not far away nor the beautiful waterfalls and such north of hilo. It's a perfect spot for two."

"We're so happy we decided to take a break from timeshares and do this. We loved every minute. Being from Seattle, we didn't mind the occasional rain, especially since it was warm rain. This was our third week on the island, and the most enjoyable. We loved exploring the local area, starting with the beautiful, well kept grounds, the nearby beach park with warm ponds, the beautiful drive down the coast, the scenic lava tree park, the interesting Old Pohoa Town with some cool restaurants, and, of course, the Kilauea Volcano that is just an hour drive away. Rosie is a delight and very helpful. The very well-stocked home is the largest one bedroom we have ever been in. We loved how we could open up the large doors on two walls and have the air flow right through. We definitely plan to return."

"We spent a memorable week at Ka Lani Kai celebrating 35 years of marriage, and found it and its surroundings to be ideal for our adventurous needs. Not only was the cottage warm and comfortable, but the neighborhood presented a relaxed atmosphere, far away from the hectic tourism on the Kona side. We found it a convenient starting place for our several road trips to the furthest north, south, east, and west corners of the island, and our trusty GPS always got us there and back; we especially liked the Red Road, and "tunneling" through the tree canopy. While the enormous tidal surges brought on by hurricane Olaf prevented snorkeling, it did provide memorable views (and photos) of enormous waves breaking over lava formations; during the highest tides sea water flowed down the path next to the cottage, overflowing the pond temporarily, but a phone call to Jeana informed us "not to worry". Our visit to the Big Island was nearly perfect, and Ka Lani Kai even better!"
