  • A piece of heaven

"We have stayed in just about all Sophia's properties and have had no complaints. The houses are beautiful and well stocked. All you need is groceries and you're all set. Sophia will address any issues you have and get them resolved quickly . The area is quiet so don't expect a lot to see but if you're looking for piece and quiet you have it. Rental car a must. Getting across the island is easy and Kona has all the tourism you need."

  • Great views and Tidepool Access

"Our family loved the ocean view from the upstairs lanai, though the passage to that came through a bedroom. And the location for snorkeling the tidepools is tremendous. The house is generally well-equipped, though there was no colander in the kitchen or working remote control for the dvd player. It's a good choice for a group, though a little more attention to small details would help."

  • Wow... what a treat!

"We really enjoyed our stay here. It was the real deal for a tropical vacation! Everything we needed for our stay was there. Including tide pools, just a few steps away (what else can you ask for?)! If you are looking for island excitement, this is not what you want. If you are looking to spend some time away from the busy hustle and bustle of your everyday busy lives, then this is where you want to be! You are in jungle, so bugs and gecko's are just part of being there... but, the gecko's eat the bugs, so there you go! I recommend this place for anyone wanting so spend some time on the Hilo side of the island. you can be anywhere in less than an hour, including Hilo and the Volcano! Loved it!"

  • Ahhh...this is aloha...

"This area is my favorite on the Big Island, and this may just well be my favorite house! It's airy, open, and delightful, and the whole neighborhood is quiet and orderly. How about the house itself in particular? Well, if you're looking for relaxation, you've got it. The patio is south facing, but offers lovely shade in the mornings from the plantings on the east, and a bit in the late afternoon from the palms on the west. The bedrooms are roomy and breezy, very comfortable beds, and clean, modern, nice bathrooms, The windows, transoms and fans keep you comfortable day and night, the kitchen is well done, the laundry is new, the outdoor showers are handy, and it's well lit throughout. The Wai O'pae Tide pools are a ten minute walk down the block (there is little to no vehicular traffic, nor any beach), the night's stars are stunning (this is a Dark Skies area), and the place lends itself to conversation on the patio after dinner. The patio sits above the tide pool in the picture, and the yard is not done justice by the photos. It is, in a word or three, gorgeous, serene, lush, tropical. This NOT a tourist-y destination (that would be Kona...), this is a place for a slow, relaxed visit where you should feel at home, comfortable and bathed in the Island's Aloha. Close enough to Hilo, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, MacKenzie State Park, and Lava Tree to visit those whenever you want or need to, they're all easy drives. We ate several times in Pahoa at Pele's Kitchen- wonderful breakfasts! We were sharing the house with another couple, and had plenty of room for us all. We will be back as soon as we can, and that's the best recommendation I can give."
