We almost didn't leave we loved the place so much!
"We stayed in the house for three weeks and it went by way too fast! The house has a beautiful, amazing, breathtaking view of Kapoho Bay. You can literally sit on the rooftop lanai (we referred to it as the lido deck) and stare for hours. We actually got up at 5:00am so we could witness the amazing sunrise from the lido deck. If it's too hot for you, you can head down to the lower lanai that's fully shaded and breezy. So lovely. I feel like I went through five books while I was there. There's also a very nice hot tub on the lido deck.
If you're adventurous, you can enter the water, but it's a bit rocky and the water is a little rough. The snorkeling is amazing. About a mile's walk away is Champagne Pond, a brackish pond for swimmers of all levels. The snorkeling there is amazing as well. My Dad claims to have seen a blue eel, but no one can corroborate this!
There was a little bit of rain, which I love, but it was either early in the morning or while we slept. Never during the day.
I haven't even mentioned the house which is absolutely amazing and beautiful! It has all the modern amenities you'd ever need. We did a lot of cooking there and for some strange reason, everything tasted so much better!
If you want a quiet getaway, this is the place for you. The "big town" of Pahoa is about 20 minutes away and Hilo is about 45 minutes away. But there's so much to do from the house, all you have to do is stock up on groceries and hunker down! It's just so beautiful and peaceful there. We can't wait to return.
The neighbors are very friendly and helpful, but they don't bother you.
I highly recommend this place. Can't say enough good things about it."

"We immediately fell in love with the arrival in the house. It has a lot of charm and is very tastefully decorated. The kitchen is huge. The covered porch is a dream, just like the view. On listening to the birdsong morning, just wonderful. The whole booking process was very friendly and very well documented.
Will be back soon!
We hope we can come again. Much obliged."

"Four of us (two couples)spent three lovely days at the Pond House as part of our week on the Big Island. The house is not fancy, but unique and charming. We loved the screened porch where the furniture was comfy and a cooling breeze relaxed us in the evenings. All the plants on the grounds are so lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the beautiful tide pools each morning where snorkeling was awesome. After our morning snorkel, we would go out exploring the area. One day we took the road to Kalapana. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way and then was fascinated by the lava that buried the town. The pond house is about 45 minutes from Volcano National Park so we spent a day there. Enjoyed pizza and aloha at Boogie Woogie pizza in Pahoa. Also went to the Mauna Loa macadamia nut factory in Hilo- lots of free samples! All that said, if you want an impeccably clean place, go somewhere else. This is jungle living and there were some ants in the house and also geckos that left their poop here and there. It's not close to restaurants so you'll need to plan accordingly there. We loved our time at this home."

Ocean front, amazing snorkeling, and rustic charm.
"Absolutely loved our stay at Hale Hui. The access to the tide pools and extraordinary snorkeling was fantastic. Out the door and into the clean, clear water. Perfect house for a couple - we grilled every night on the balcony, went to sleep with the sound of the ocean or tropical rain showers as our lullaby, and awoke each morning to that special view. I loved spending the afternoon in the "gravity chair", placed out on the lava rocks by the tide pools, glass of wine in hand, ocean in sight. A great place on a unique coast, with easy access to even more adventures in the Pahoa and Hilo area."
