"We Stayed at this home for a week from March 18-25 and absolutely enjoyed it! The home was beautiful and clean. I was worried about the stair access and the kids playing on the lanai when I booked the house, but the lanai is fully enclosed with screens and two locked doors, so if you have small ones like me, they cannot access the exterior stairs when playing out there if the doors are closed. The great thing about this house was the management. Extremely responsive to problems and a caretaker lives a few houses away so was able to address any problems or questions we had (Microwave was broken and replaced within 24 hours). Some info that may be helpful to travelers: The house comes with long distance phone calling and wireless because there is very spotty wireless service out in Kapoho--Verizon has no service and AT&T one bar. So when booking in this area, make sure the rental is like this one with wifi internet and long distance calling-if that is important. The house itself was fully stocked with a roll of paper towels, a few rolls of toilet paper, full size bar of soap and dish washing liquid, dishwashing detergent and laundry detergent. The yard was wonderfully enclosed. The house was walking distance (very close-my 2 year old could walk it) to the tidepools. We just loved our stay and look forward to coming back in the future!"Guest: Paulette U. Date of Stay: March 2013 Review Submitted: March 31, 2013View listing
"We just got back and can't wait to plan a return trip. We did a weekend "stay-cation" and couldn't ask for more. The cottage was clean & well equipped, once we arrived we didn't have to leave. The property was beautifully maintained and very private. Relaxing on the front porch and watching the water just puts you in such a state of bliss.... We live on the Kona side and sometimes just need a get-a-way. This is it!!! And the bonus is Hula Cove is pet friendly so we were able to bring our dog along. What an experience; priceless!!!"Guest: Roxydog Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 30, 2014View listing
"My husband and I stayed in the Turtle Suite about a year and a half ago for 3 nights. This time we returned for a full week. It just so happened that the owners were on the mainland while we were there so we didn't have contact with them until the last day. They had everything ready for us and there wasn't anything we would have had to ask them for anyway. Cooking without a stove is a bit of a challenge, but with the large electric fry pan and the grill, plus the rice cooker we were able to do quite well. I found taking along some foil for wrapping vegetables in worked very well on the grill while the meat was cooking. The sound of the waves was very pleasant and the table on the patio was nice. We did have a quite a bit of rain this year so we used the outside table less than I would have liked. We did snorkel in both the Kapoho Ponds and Champagne Ponds. Unfortunately the volcano's lava was not visible from the Pahoa side this year. As volcanos will do, it changed direction. We love the Sunday Markets, both in Pahoa and on the highway toward Hilo. The new Friday market across the road from KBC was a nice addition. Everyone was so friendly and fruit prices so much more reasonable than in the stores. Fresh Mahi Mahi from the fish market in Pahoa was delicious. We enjoyed dinner in Pahoa at Ning's Thai one night and it was very good, with nice size portions. It is a laid back town so relax and don't expect a waiter/waitress to appear the instant you walk in. This is getting quite long, but we did have a good stay. My only suggestion is that the futon is not very comfortable for sitting on. It would not keep me from returning."Guest: Cathy Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 21, 2014View listing
"We stayed at Nanea Kai in late July/early August for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There were 7 of us in our party including 8 & 10 year old grandchildren. The tidal pool was a big hit, both because of the Koi (the kids named each one) and because we could practice snorkeling in it. The house itself is well maintained and up to date. It was wonderful to have a washer & dryer to use. Beds were comfortable and we really appreciated the fans in every room. We traveled to the volcano, the Rainbow Falls, into Hilo, to Mona Kea Visitor’s Center, and across the island to swim and snorkel. We found restaurants & grocery stores in Pahoa although we did stop at Safeway in Hilo as we went through there. We hope that Tropical Storm Iselle didn’t do damage to the property so that others will be able to enjoy it, also. Thanks, Kim, for a great time. We appreciated your house, all your snorkeling gear & boogie boards, and especially your flexibility on our departure time. Our 10 year old grandson summed it all up by saying, as we were leaving, “I’m going to miss this place.”"Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 12, 2014View listing
