Tide pools are amazing and so close!
"Four of us (two couples)spent three lovely days at the Pond House as part of our week on the Big Island. The house is not fancy, but unique and charming. We loved the screened porch where the furniture was comfy and a cooling breeze relaxed us in the evenings. All the plants on the grounds are so lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the beautiful tide pools each morning where snorkeling was awesome. After our morning snorkel, we would go out exploring the area. One day we took the road to Kalapana. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way and then was fascinated by the lava that buried the town. The pond house is about 45 minutes from Volcano National Park so we spent a day there. Enjoyed pizza and aloha at Boogie Woogie pizza in Pahoa. Also went to the Mauna Loa macadamia nut factory in Hilo- lots of free samples! All that said, if you want an impeccably clean place, go somewhere else. This is jungle living and there were some ants in the house and also geckos that left their poop here and there. It's not close to restaurants so you'll need to plan accordingly there. We loved our time at this home."

"We stayed from July 3-9 and was a great location for us. Nice quiet location away from the traffic. My 9 yr old daughter enjoyed swimming every day in the lagoon with fishes and turtles. Very relaxing spot. However, it was a little uneasy at first to have our kids sleep down stairs away from main floor. But, they were good with it. Will like to go back again soon. One week was not long enough to enjoy the big island. Check in and out was easy. Note: no cell phone service. Just WiFi."

"We immediately fell in love with the arrival in the house. It has a lot of charm and is very tastefully decorated. The kitchen is huge. The covered porch is a dream, just like the view. On listening to the birdsong morning, just wonderful. The whole booking process was very friendly and very well documented.
Will be back soon!
We hope we can come again. Much obliged."

"This is a beautiful Hawaiian home with a million dollar view, 24 hours a day. House faces the Pacific, waves crash and trade winds blow just beyond the front doors, the night's are inky black and the Milky Way cutting across millions of stars seems just beyond arms reach. And all of this is only a 5 minute walk to the best salt water snorkeling in the world [and I've snorkeled all over the world]. My wife and I were there with our 2 older sons, we snorkeled every morning then road tripped each afternoon all over the Big Island.
Yes I would recommend this house to others and yes I would gladly return. I never met the owner in person, but she was a pleasure to deal with over the phone and called to check on us during the week
This house was our refuge, our peace, our retreat for a week. We already miss it and continue to visit it in our dreams."
